A Second Chance

Author's Note: Honestly, I was getting bored of this story. Coz it clearly is going to be the same as any other love story. I'm not surprise why don't really get many comments for this fic. If I were a reader, I'm getting quite bored with this fic too. So.. I've decided to change the way the story is being told. Although its going to be quite confusing, but its different. Really different from the usual writing style I always do. I'm prepared to get some unsubscribers, but I hope I don't. :) So here goes nothing...

“So how’s everything at home?” Yoseob asked. We were sitting in his living room after that melodramatic scene just happened. Yaeshin went out for awhile to buy dinner and I stayed behind to look after Yoseob.

“Everything’s good.. except for the fact that I’ve already confessed to her,” I said.

Yoseob’s eyes grew wide hearing my words. “You did??”

“Accidentally.”

“How can it be accidentally?? Did you talk in your sleep or something?”

“Ahni.. Aishh.. You see, I got Hyuna’s morning sickness. We went to the doctor to get a checkup coz I’ve been vomiting every morning. The doctor explained that I kinda took her morning sickness for her coz he said my love for her was too strong. It happens but rarely. And.. well you can figure out the rest right?” I said.

Yoseob was just stunned. He just sat there and stared at me, mouth slightly opened. Finally he spoke. “How is this... ‘everything’s good’?”

“She’s okay with it. She said she won’t be awkward around me although she knows my feelings,” I said calmly.

“Aren’t you supposed to be happier than this?”

“She doesn’t feel the same Seob-ah.. She’s just.... okay with it. I have no more hope,” I said, lowering down my head, looking at my fingers.

“Give her time Junhyung. There’s still time,” he said, patting my back softly. I just nodded slowly

14 years later.....

“Jae Hee! Jihye! Breakfast!” I called out in the early morning. These two are never early.

“Appa!! Jihye won’t come out of the bathroom! She’s been in there for hours!” Jae Hee shouted, stomping into the kitchen. I sighed. Every morning..

I knocked on the bathroom door calling out Jihye’s name. “Jihye, sweetheart.. how much more longer do you want to be in there? Your oppa haven’t even bathe..” I said. After awhile the door opened.

“Well this is what you get if you sleep like a pig!” Jihye said to Jae Hee that was standing beside me.

“Yah! You’re the one who bathes for hours!”

“I just took half an hour! Not even 45 minutes!”

“Still!”

“That’s enough. You two continue fighting and you’ll be late for school. I’m not the one who will serve detention,” I said, walking to the kitchen calmly. They fight like cats and dogs but love each other more than lovers. Aishh..

I sat at the dining table, reading my daily newspaper while waiting for the two of them to get ready. Jihye walked to the table with her backpack and all ready for school in her uniform. “Morning appa!” she greeted me, giving me a kiss on the cheek.

I just smiled as she sat down across me, taking the breakfast that I had prepared for her. “Sweetie, why do you need to bathe for so long?” I asked gently.

“Appa, I’m a girl with long hair and other needs like facial wash. And you know I’m not like other people right?” she said, waving her right hand that is only up to her elbow. I nodded my head.

“I know dear. But your brother needs to get ready for school too. Maybe you can cut your timing to about 15 minutes?” She exaggerated a shocked expression to me.

“20?”

“25!” she said. 5 minutes? Well its better than nothing.. I simply nodded.

Jae Hee came out all dressed too and sat beside me and Jihye. “Appa, today I’ll be coming home early. Can you fetch me?” he asked.

“Already 18 and still needs appa to fetch you.. How shameful,” Jihye commented and rolled her eyes.

“Park Jihye,” I said her name seriously.

“Sorry appa. Sorry oppa..” she apologised, lowering her head.

“Why do you need me to fetch you Jae Hee? I thought you always go home with your friends?” I asked, turning to Jae Hee.

“I want to see her appa,” he said softly, biting on his bread bit by bit. I know very well what he meant and so I just nodded.

14 years back

Jae Hee ran into the house the moment I put him down. He ran straight to the bathroom as he had been holding his urge to urinate eversince he was in school. “Be careful Jae Hee! Don’t slip in the bathroom!” I called out to him. I went around the house to look for Hyuna and finally found her in her room, sitting by the edge of the bed backfacing me. I was about to approach her when I heard her talking softly to herself.

“Jay.. You were right. He still loves me.” She chuckled. He? Me?

“When the doctor said that he got my morning sickness because of either the strong love from the wife or the husband, I thought it was my feelings towards him. But apparently, its his too.” I arched an eyebrow. I shouldn’t be listening right?

“Its all your fault. Who asked you to still keep this bracelet? Now I have the urge of wearing it back. Should I Jay?” she said softly. She remained quiet for awhie.

“Gosh.. 9 years. Nine Jay. Nine,” her voice got softer and she chuckled softly at the end, shaking her head slightly. I was too surprised that I didn’t know how to react. I stepped back carefully from her door, deciding not to go to her just yet. Suddenly I heard a thud.

“Aahhh Uncle Junhyung~” I heard Jae Hee whining. I turned behind and he was sitting on the floor. I accidentally pushed him when I was retreating and he was behind me. He furrowed his eyebrows looking at me, rubbing his .

“Oh Jae Hee-ah! Are you okay? Are you hurt? I’m so so sorry! I didn’t see you behind me…” I said worriedly, kneeling down to help him up. He didn’t cry. He just whined at me and acted as if he was angry with me.

“Why didn’t you go in Uncle Junhyung? Are you scared?” he asked me as he stood up.

“A-ahni.. I didn’t want to disturb your omma,” I said.

14 years later

“Honey, do you want me to fetch you along with your brother today?” I asked Jihye as I stopped the car infront of her school.

“Its okay appa. I can go home myself. I’ll be coming home quite late today because I have extra class,” she said.

“How late?”

“About 7pm?”

“I’ll fetch you. Its night time and its not safe for a girl to be going home alone,” I said firmly. She nodded in agreement.

“Annyeong appa! I’ll call you when I finish school,” she said, waving goodbye as she stepped out of my car, walking to her friends that were waiting for her. From the car I saw a young boy running towards her, calling her noona as he approached. Jihye smiled happily and greeted him with a warm ‘morning’. Oh? Isn’t that Seungie? It means his father must be around…

Suddenly I heard a faint knock on my car window. I turned and saw Yoseob waving excitedly. Yup. Told you so.

“Busy much Jun?” Yoseob said as we had breakfast together at our usual cafeteria.

“Yeah. Jihye and Jae Hee fight over the bathroom again this morning..” I sighed.

“Don’t you think you should move to a bigger apartment? The kids are getting older and they need more space. How much longer do you want to live in that 2-room apartment?” Yoseob raised his eyebrows, showing his concern face.

“Memories Yoseob. Its all about memories.”

“You can still keep those memories without having to sacrifice your childrens’ comfort. Memories will always be in our heart and mind Junhyung,” he said slowly. I remained silent, stirring my coffee again and again.

“Is it about money? Junhyung you know you can ask help from me anytime right? We’re already like blood brothers,” he said.

I shook my head. “Ahni Seob-ah. Its not about money. I just… can’t bear leaving that apartment..”

“Then don’t. Just buy a bigger house. I didn’t say you can’t still keep this apartment. You can visit it when you’re free or during the weekend right?” Yoseob smiled. I thought about his suggestion carefully. He’s right. I just have to buy a bigger house. It doesn’t mean I have to sell this apartment. I looked up at him and smiled.

“Thanks Yoseob. I know I can count on you,” I said and took a sip of my coffee.

“Appa let’s go buy some flowers first!” Jae Hee said excitedly the moment he stepped into the car.

“Arasso..” I said and ruffled his hair. He pouted and carefully fixed his hair. He has grown so much. When I ruffled his hair when he was younger, he didn’t even bother to fix it. But now... aishh teenagers.

“Jae Hee-ah, what do you think of moving into a bigger house?” I asked him. I glanced at him and he looked at me with wide eyes, clearly excited with what he just heard.

“Are we moving appa? Are we seriously seriously moving??” he asked happily. I could almost see his face glowing.

“I was planning to. I want to find out first if you and Jihye are fine about moving. Seeing your reaction, obviously you are,” I said chuckling.

“Of course! Jihye would be ecstatic when she hears about this!” he said cheerfully, grinning from ear to ear. I just smiled looking at how happy he was.

“So what house are you buying appa? Condo? Bungalow? Terrace?” he asked, clapping his hands together.

“How about a flat?” I smirked. I could see that his smile faded and he pouted slightly.

“I guess… that’s okay too…” he said slowly. I laughed at his change in reaction.

“Jae Hee-ah, why would I want to move if I buy a similar house as what we have now..?” I said, raising an eyebrow. He chuckled and his lively mood was back up.

“Do you want a bungalow? Like the one you used to live in?” I asked. His smile faded slightly but is still there plastered on his face.

“Do you think its still there appa? The house?”

“Of course.. She sold it to another family remember?” I said. He smiled and nodded faintly.

14 years back

“Jay.. I know you really love the house. But its being abandoned.. eversince I moved in with Junhyung, I barely have time to stop by that house. I really really don’t want to sell it because its our house. But…” Hyuna sobbed silently. I her back gently as I sat beside her. I felt weird sitting there with her as she talked to Jay by his grave but Hyuna was already 4 months pregnant and I couldn’t just leave her alone.

“I remember Jay. I do..” she said softly. Is she really talking to him? Is he really here? I’m starting to get slightly creeped out here.

“Ara ara.. Little Jihye has grown big you know! I hope everything goes well. I love you Park Jaebum..” she said, caressing her stomach that has grown quite big after 4 months.

She turned her head to me and smiled. “Let’s go now..” I just nodded and helped her to stand.

So... how was it? I hope I didn't ruin this story even more. :/ As you can already see, theres ALOT of going back and forth between the 14 years. It might confuse things abit, but I'm sure you'll get it. :) For those who didn't unsubscribe, THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCHHH!! I LOVE YOUUU!! <33

Chapter 29: OMG. UGLY SOBBING. No lie - my eyes just won't stop leaking tears lol. UGH. I'm an incoherent spazz right now. This story, your writing, HYUNA. JAY. JUNHYUNG. EVERYTHING has put me through an emotional roller coaster and I can't really process my thoughts well enough to give you anything constructive other than my eternal feelz LOL.
So, I think I'm in the minority here but I literally SQUEALED when it was revealed early on that Hyuna was married to Jay. Not gonna lie, I am a hardcore Jay/Hyuna shipper. There isn't enough fanfic about them sadly :( so I was shocked and beside myself reading all the adorably sweet Jay/Hyuna moments. Ugh, it was heartbreaking when he died...I literally choked and let out a sob and had to walk away for a breather.
I think what I love most about this story is that the ending (though heartbreaking) leaves a rather ambiguous message that can be taken either way. We know Hyuna is Junhyung's only true love but is Junhyung Hyuna's? I found myself torn .. when she was still alive, I thought that Jay's death was a way for her to find her way back to Junhyung but then she died and joined Jay and I changed my mind and thought maybe Jay is her true love/soul mate and she's finally returning to him. ANYWAY. I could be completely OFF and just insane but that's just a testament to your skill and how engaging this story is and how emotionally invested I became.
Junhyung was just heartbreaking from start to end. I felt for him and really the poor guy went through so much but I was incredibly touched that he finally got his family in the end, even without Hyuna. Your ending sentence had so much emotional impact and was absolutely perfect.
I know this is mainly a Junah love story but perhaps you wrote Jay and Hyuna's relationship so well I couldn't help but root for them instead (and I say this with Junah as my OTP). Hopefully if you find inspiration you might write a Jay/Hyuna centred fic next? hehe ^^
YOU'RE AMAZING. I'm off to read your other work!
