It’s Wednesday and Hyukjae is at the dorm kitchen, making ramen while video calling with Donghae after a tiring schedule.

“You really should eat healthier,” Donghae said with a frown.

“This is stress eating, babe. Today’s schedule was really tiring. I just had a few hours of sleep because I arrived at the airport at 3am, and we kept on extending because the members of the rookie group were still a bit shy so it was hard to get good content. 

“I’m sure you guided them well as a good sunbae and MC.”

“I tried my best.”

“You’re the best,” Donghae said with a wink. 

Hyukjae smiled his gummy smile and Donghae smiled happily at that. 

Before any of them could speak again, Kyuhyun arrived at the kitchen to cook himself a simple dinner.

“Donghae~!”

“Hi, Kyu!”

“How’s the Philippines? Come back here faster, Hyukjae is extra grumpy without you!” Kyuhyun teased with his trademark evil smirk.

Hyukjae just chuckled, amused at how Kyuhyun thinks he can annoy him with this, not knowing that Donghae and him are together now.

Donghae just laughed. “It’s hot as usual, but I’m used to it. Are you preparing dinner? Give Hyukkie some of that as well please.”

And then they continued their conversation about updating each other about how their day went. Sometimes Kyuhyun joins their conversation as well. 

“Hyuk, you should go and sleep now so you can recover.”

“It’s not even midnight yet, Hae. And my schedule tomorrow isn’t until the afternoon.”

“Aish.. Okay then, but I have to go though.”

“You’re gonna sleep already?”

“No, I have some things to do.”

Hyukjae pouted. “Oh, okay.”

“Stop being cute,” Donghae chuckled.

At the corner of his eye, he saw Kyuhyun look at him with a raised eyebrow, judgingly. Kyuhyun always does that whenever he’s on a video call with Donghae and they’re being a bit flirty. No wonder Kyuhyun isn’t even being suspicious right now despite listening in to their video call for about twenty minutes already. Although really, they weren’t acting out of the ordinary (or how ordinary was for them before) because even if it’s just Kyuhyun, they’re still not used to being together in front of other people.

He grins mischievously, deciding to amp it up. “But I miss you~”

Donghae raised an eyebrow. He knows Kyuhyun is still there and is a bit confused as to why Hyukjae is acting this way. Hyukjae winks at him and Donghae reflects Hyukjae’s mischievous grin, now understanding the situation. “I miss you more~”

Hyukjae can see Kyuhyun’s eyebrows disappearing to his bangs at this point and can’t help but let out a giggle.

“See you on Friday, Hae.”

“See you soon, Hyuk. Good night.”

“Good night. I love you.”

“I love you too!”

Kyuhyun audibly choked, wide-eyed. Hyukjae pursed his lips, trying to hold off from laughing. He looked again at his phone screen and saw Donghae covering his mouth to mute his laughter, eyes shining in mirth, obviously delighted like a victorious kid. 

Then they laughed loudly together in chorus as Kyuhyun was gaping at them in shock. Hyukjae waved goodbye to Donghae and ended their call. His last view was of Donghae wiping the tears in his eyes from laughing so much. 

“Wh- Wait. H- What?? Okay, explain!” Kyuhyun demanded as soon as he got over his sputtering.

Hyukjae was shining brightly as he proudly said, “I’ve confessed. And we’re together now.”

“Oh my god! Finally! Hyukjae, I’m so happy for you!” Kyuhyun exclaimed, suddenly hugging Hyukjae.

“I’m so happy for myself too,” he said in a joking tone but was obviously telling the truth.

Kyuhyun smacked him, laughing. “Okay I’ll give you that. I’m sure your emotions are all over the place.”

“On the contrary, I’m just happy,” Hyukjae said simply with a smile.

Kyuhyun opened his mouth, looking unsure about voicing out his thoughts.

“I know what you’re thinking. And yes, we’ve talked about the conflicts we’re facing, and we promised to talk more about it when he gets back.”

“Well, that’s good then?” Kyuhyun said with hesitation.

Hyukjae nodded. “It is.”

“Okay, now tell me how that happened. How did you confess?!”

Hyukjae humored Kyuhyun by telling him how their vacation went and their confession. Then Hyukjae retired to bed, still happy with reliving the past days, and dreamt of Donghae in his arms with the sound of the ocean’s waves in the background.

Hyukjae woke up feeling different and yet also familiar. He kept his eyes closed as he assessed his environment and realized that he can feel soft hair on his chin and a heavy arm on his chest. 

He cannot mistake that perfume, and the warm body that he’s grown addicted to in just a span of two days together.

He blinked his eyes open and yes, there he is, the love of his life, sleeping peacefully beside him.

Hyukjae reached out to his phone and verified that it was Thursday morning. Donghae wasn’t due to come back until tomorrow afternoon, and Hyukjae was supposed to fetch his boyfriend at the airport.

Donghae stirred awake and groaned. “Let’s sleep more, Hyukkie. I’m still so sleepy.”

“But what are you doing here, Hae? It’s still Thursday.”

“I rebooked my flight so I can be with you earlier,” Donghae answered, muffled as he pressed his face on Hyukjae’s neck.

Hyukjae’s face stretched in a smile, very much delighted that Donghae came back to him earlier. He rearranged their position so that Donghae can comfortably snuggle on him, with his arms wrapped around Donghae.
