yellow
all my starsLook at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And everything you do
Yeah, they were all yellow
. . .
One month later…
“I cannot believe you’re not going to fix things with Wheein before you’re released.”
“And I can’t believe I let you talk me into living in an apartment opposite you.” Byulyi joked, trying to lighten the mood.
“What am I supposed to do? Let you live in a bat cave? If you’re going to study for medical school you need a better environment.”
“For your information, I study perfectly well in my bat cave.” Byulyi grinned even though Yongsun couldn’t see her.
There was a few seconds of silence before Yongsun sighed into the receiver.
“You need to fix things with Wheein, Byulyi.”
“She doesn’t want to talk to me, Yongsun. She wants nothing to do with me. The only reason why she hasn’t transfer unit is because Hyejin wouldn’t allow her to, for whatever reason.”
What Byulyi didn’t know was, before Yongsun left, she made Hyejin promise her, as a friend, that she’d take care of Wheein.
Byulyi was going to tell Yongsun not to worry about her and Wheein when Yura, one of the woman in Hyeri’s crew tapped her on her shoulder.
Mouthing an annoyed What? to her, Yura leaned in, “Hyeri wants to see you.”
Byulyi rolled her eyes and signalled for Yura to leave her alone, but the same aged inmate waited for her while looking around.
“Okay, hey, look, I need to go. I promise I’ll talk to Wheein before I leave this hole.”
“And promise me you won’t get yourself in trouble?”
“I promise.”
Byulyi hung up the call and turned to Yura, “Let’s go.” The former Boss sighed and followed Yura to wherever the hell Hyeri was.
Yura looked around the corridor cautiously. Now that Hyeri was the Boss, everyone more or less has to listen to her. Since Byulyi was pretty much still Hyeri’s biggest nemesis, the former Boss has a big target on her back. That said, there were probably eyes and ears around Byulyi all the time.
“I’ll look out for Wheein. For you. When you’re gone.” Yura whispered as softly as she could, but made sure Byulyi heard every word she said.
“What?” Byulyi looked at Yura, who was looking everywhere but her.
“I’ll take care of Wheein. So you don’t have to worry about her. Just get out and become a surgeon or whatever.”
“What’s it to you?”
“You saved my life. It’s the least I can do for you.”
Byulyi really didn’t have anything to say. She didn’t trust anyone in Hyeri’s crew, but Yura seemed like a decent person.
Byulyi nodded, “Thanks.”
Yura brought Byulyi to Hyeri’s unit and the Boss was waiting for her by the middle of the common area. Her whole crew was there, including Wheein, who was standing next to her with an expression Byulyi couldn’t really tell. And that’s new to her. Because Byulyi could always tell what Wheein was thinking just by looking at her expressions. But now there was nothing. Wheein looked a mess.
