Sehun: Peacemaker
Deliquent
Sehun
The cold, crisp night air gently blows on Sehun's face as he walks. And it makes him regret not bringing a scarf or, perhaps, a heavy jacket. He knew he would stay late to study at school but he didn't know it'd be this late. Sehun leads and walks with his bike, music filling his ear as he enjoys the quiet stroll. He readjusts his headphones before stopping and searching through his bag. He grabs his glasses and slides them on; they’re not prescription either way. Because Sehun doesn’t need glasses but his mother seems to think differently. She isn’t worried about her son's health, either; she just wants him to look smart. He leaves the house in glasses and comes home in glasses. During school, it's his freedom from stupid frames.
He suddenly frowns when he feels strange as if someone’s watching him. He hears a faint noise and looks around, someone in a window above grabbing his attention. Sehun stares up at the boy in the window, a cigarette in his hands and a beer nearby. Sehun has to admit that the man is kind of handsome. Though the light in his room makes it hard to see him, attractiveness is obvious. But he looks kind of mean. It's only then that Sehun notices the phone to the man's ear and he feels stupid.
Idiot, he’s just on the phone. Sehun laughs to himself and smiles before he turns away and continues on his walk, the thought of the staring man completely fades. Instead, thoughts and worries cloud his mind; he hates going home. Sehun absolutely loves his parents but they’re just...distant. If they’re home, they'll be silent as the grave or talking on their phones, with work. When they speak, they fight. Vicious words spit from their lips as they fight about everything; Money, college, love and most of the time, Sehun.
Father wants him to pick a college that'll make Sehun happy, but mother insists on real estate. Could you even earn a degree for real estate? What's the homework like? Math, Calculating, socializing. Sell miniatures homes to other students? Sehun's eyebrows furrow at his mindless thoughts. Nobody really cares about that, do they? What if she didn't care if Sehun goes college at all and she just wanted him out of the house as soon as he turned eighteen? No, she cares. Why else would she push him so hard for good grades? And to be a good student?
He does, however, like the idea of making cute, little, miniature houses. The idea makes him smile a little.
"I'm home!" Sehun calls out, taking off his shoes and setting his bag down. He waits for a response. Nothing. He can hear his mother talking on the phone. Father isn’t home. Again. Sehun adjusts his glasses and hair before walking into the kitchen and giving his mother a smile. “I’m sorry I’m home late- my study went on longer than I thought.”When he tries to hug her, she just pats his head and waves him off. “That’s fine, dear.”
Sehun frowns and takes a step back. "Mom," Sehun says softly. She ignores him and sits at the kitchen island, sipping wine. He sighs and turns away, sulking back to his room, letting his jacket drag behind him after he pulls it off. The walls of his room are baby blue, accompanied by hardwood, cold floors. He had decorated the walls with several paintings and a corkboard full of photos that hang above his nightstand. Photos of friends decorate it, a couple of spaces are taken up by photos of his friend and his best friend, of sorts, Tao. Not that they spoke in awhile but he likes to hope that they’re still close.
Sehun pulls out his phone and dials a number. It’s the second time he’s called today but he still waits patiently. He grins when he hears the phone pick up.
"Dad, hi."
"Hey, kiddo."
"Will you be home tonight?"
Sehun's father remains silent for a second. "Sehun, I..."
Sehun sits on the edge of his bed, trying not to feel disappointed.
"You're going out of town again."
"I'm sorry, Sehun. I know I promised to take you out for your birthday."
"But...?"
"I'm sorry."
"It's okay, dad," Sehun lies, his chest tightening. "I don't like beef bowls anyway." Yet another lie. "I can just get bubble tea with my friends, too." That’s true but it’s not the same. He loves going out with his friends but once in a blue moon, he'd actually like plans with his father to fall through. Not that they ever do anymore.
"I love you, Huna- I have to go."
Sehun's feels sick. It feels like a thousand daggers are being into his chest and twisted."I love you too, dad."
Does dad really love me? What about mom? Sehun looks out his window. The already unbearably cold air twists with a hint of something. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but maybe it’s sorrow, anger, and most of all, loneliness.
"I thought the remake was waaay better than the original!" Chanyeol announces.
"What!? No way! The original is classic!" Baekhyun argues.
"The graphics are better,” Chanyeol points out.
Baekhyun scoffs. "Whatever, graphics don't matter when the classics rule!"
"Why are you children fighting over that silly movie?" Suho puts in. "Pirates of the Caribbean is better anyways."
Sehun shakes his head and turns it, looking at the other students. The first day at school and his friends are already debating over summer movies. Summer time is movies, snacks, and sleepovers. Studying, fighting, and worrying. There’s a lot of new faces in school, less than old faces but it’s still impressive. Someone leaves, someone takes their place. He rolls his eyes at some girls complain about being there.
"Why does summer have to end!? I just found a cute bikini too!"
"It's okay, we can just go to the pool! Cute boys go there!"
"It's not the same," The girl complains.
Sehun shakes his head again. He, for one, adores school. He loves learning- both new and old; If it teaches, he likes it.
"Never thought I'd see him at school," Baekhyun laughs. Sehun looks over to where Baekhyun had been looking. A handsome, tan student walks by; a stern expression seemingly forever planted there, he swears he can see some roots growing. Sehun almost laughs at his own joke. Almost.
"He is handsome, isn't he? I heard he's a real bad boy!" A girl nearby giggles.
Sehun thinks it’s ridiculous- the guy is angry as hell and, apparently, scary and yet they still like him. “Bad boy,” He snorts and turns back, giving his friends his full attention. "I like Pirates of the Caribbean."
"Sehun, that's because you're in love with Junmyeon,” Baekhyun snickers.
Sehun frowns. "No, I'm not."
"He's his mama!" Chanyeol teases loudly. "Mama! Mama!"
Sehun blushes and smacks Chanyeol. "Stop it!"
Suho sniffs and wipes away a fake tear. "My Sehuna, so sweet and affectionate."
"He's so sweet to his hyungs,” Baekhyun fakes cries as well.
Sehun grumbles and grabs his bag. "Let's just get to class, you big jerks," He stands up too quickly, yelping when someone knocks into him and causes him to fall hard. He groans softly and looks at the pieces of rocks on his palm. Looking up, at the badass from earlier, Sehun glares up at him; There’s a hint of disgust on his face as if Sehun bothered him and not the other way around. He walks off without a single word, not offering him any help. Sehun stares in bewilderment as his friends quickly help him up.
"What a !" Baekhyun practically shrieks. "Hey, get back here, you ing prick! I’ll kick your !” Sehun shakes his head as he brushes his uniform off.
"I'm sure it was an accident," Sehun says calmly. He knows it wasn't but he doesn’t see the point in getting angry; he’d rather save his energy for more important things. "It's alright, really," He smiles and accepts when Suho offers to help him with his bag. "Accidents happen.”
