When Jennie’s father left the following morning, she didn’t bother to bid him farewell. Like a ghost, she remained silent and pale as he packed his bags.   The maids had overslept due to staying up all night tidying the mansion after the huge party.   Baekhyun dropped by to hug Jennie and Taeyeon goodbye. He was to leave that day as well. Unlike Taeyeon, who burst into tears upon Baekhyuns leaving, Jennie wanted othing more than for him to be gone.   To leave her world and let her heal.   Once Baekhyun and Jennie and Andrew Kim, the man who claimed Jennie as his own daughter, were official gone, the mansion became a large, freedom square once again.   But this time, it wasn’t the freedom of playing music in the dining room, or drinking delicasies that relaxed Jennie. It was the faith of knowing that from that day on, she could stand on her own two feet by knowing the truth.   As she munched back on a packet of crispies from the kitchen pantry, she felt as though a huge weight was rising from her shoulders. But it would never truly be gone until she told Taeyeon the truth.   Weeks passed and the day came for Jennie’s new school year.   The sun poured through the balcony doorway, warming the carpet beneath her feet.As she stood in front of her mirror, Maid Wang Fu zipped up the back of her new uniform skirt. Dark green checked. She T’d her arms and a yellow jacket was brought over her white collar shirt. A tie brought around her neck.   Her hair brushed back into a slick do.   Her cheeks tingled from the moist aftermath of exfoliation. A one hundred-and-fifty-dollar facial mask used for the opening of new school year.   Kyungsoo’s face appeared in the miror, far behind her. His bags packed and hanging over both his shoulders.   “Maid Wang fu,” said Kyungsoo, “I have something to say to monket girl.”   Maid Wang Fu hesitated before tightening Jennie’s tie one last time they leaving the room.   Once Jennie and Kyungsoo were alone, he came up behind her and smacked the back of her head.   “ow!” Jennie whined, surprised. He hadn’t hit her in weeks.   “I’m going to shift in with Jackson,” said Kyungsoo, “He’s got a new apartment that’s only a block away from the training building. I am free.”   Jennie didn’t turn around,   “Don’t tell me you’re only leaving with those ugly hoodies you came here with,” she said in a gruff tone.   Kyungsoo scoffed, “I’ve had these hoodies for years. I’m not gonna throw them out. They’re my trademark.”   He dropped the bags with a thud.   “So you’re really shifting out now?” said Jennie in an icier voice than she expected,   "Yes."   He left the room before Jennie could see his reaction and Taeyeon entered from behind him.    She stopped beside Jennie, examining her own black locks and bright eyes in the mirror and straightening out the top of her denim shorts.   "Jennie, Baekhyun called me last night," said Taeyeon. Jennie felt the top of her chest shrivel up at the mention of Baekhyuns name. "Y-Yeah?" she croacked just before coughing into her hand.   "He said that he wants to work harder than he's ever worked, now that he's gone back to america," said Taeyeon.   Jennie nodded, tight-lipped, twirling her hair in a finger.   "Did something happen with you's?" asked Taeyeon, her voice more calm than it should have been.   "Yes," said Jennie, rather aruptly.   Taeyeon stepped away from the mirror and wondered over to the fireplace.   "He kissed me," said Jennie.    It was as though all the light shut frmo the room. Jennie felt Taeyeons shock travel through the air and sink right into her tightening stomach.   "Y-You?" asked Taeyeon, turning around slowly.  THe seriousness in her eyes made it seems as though she were twenty years older. Jennie instantly looked away and nodded.   "I knew it," whispered Taeyeon. SHe looked at Jennie and her eyes glazed over.   "Taeyeon, I pushed him off," said Jennie, struggling to keep the calm in her voice, "H-He was drunk."   Taeyeon  held up her hand to indicate needed silence then slowly paced toward the bathroom and locked herself in. After a short minute, Jennie heard her burst into tears, her sobs muffled into stretches of pain—choking.   Jennie turned back for the mirror and stared at the redness forming in the corner of her eyes. This wasn't how she wanted to say goodbye to Taeyeon.     ONE YEAR LATER   The highschool halls were crowded with people, and the chaos was so similar to E-Music academy. There was the couple that was always making out on the left side of the hall, and about ten feet farther down, the cliquey girls. Opposite them, the cosplay bunch who often dyed their hair, and between them, the parade of band geeks with their huge instrument cases. There were the aerospace tech kids, the fashion kids that wheeled mannequins and clothing racks down the halls. And then there was Jennie, the infamous daughter of Andrew Kim.   Jennie felt too old to be at highschool. She was soon to turn twenty, and  would be the only girl in school who wasn’t a teenager.   As she tightened her bag over her shoulder, she had to remind herself that  this was going to be a long year.   The classroom was cool after the summer wind outside. The teacher must have stayed late last night, because Jennie spotted several cups of dried coffee all alined across his desk. She paused, suddenly feeling lighter, a smile spreading over her face like it belonged there. Taking off her jacket, she placed it in the cloakroom. Her cheeks rosy. The air had a cinnamon perfume and already the room was mostly full.    Everyone seemed so excited for the year, yet nervous for examples. But she had already studied for all the exams of the year. She had memorized books full of historie facts, math quizzes, english assignments, and other various essays written by students.   When the bell rang, she settled down at the window seat. Embracing the heat that burned at her thick, wavy hair.   The teacher arrived in his grey sweatshirt, the roll was called.   The first assignement for the day was to write an essay on the first queen of Korea. Jennie couldn’t believe her luck. That just happened to be first subject she mastered during study sessions with Taeyeon.   Of all the classmates, she managed to finish her essay first. Scribling away at quick speed and handing in three sheets of paper after only twenty five mintues.   This gave her spare time to sit back on her chair and gaze around the classroom. Everyone was either one or two years younger than her.   She wondered of all the yellow jacketed students, who would become her friend over the year.   When the school day finished, Jennie  set off on her own to find her Mercedes.     Jennie found herself standing in her empty park space. Itching her head, she took a turn about the parking lot, assessing every vehicle until it became clear that her vehicle was gone. Alarm struck- she withdrew phone from her pocket and dialed for kyungsoo. When he didn’t reposnd, she dialled for Taeyeon. When Taeyeon didn’t respond, she dialled for Lisa.   Finally, she received a response.   “Lisa!” panicked Jennie, ignoring several boys that wolf whislted past her.   “My cars gone!”   “Oh, sorry, I had to borrow it!” said Lisa. “It was an emergency!”   Jennie almost gallopped on the spot, “What? But, my keys?” “I got a copy made of your keys!” she said, “I hope you don’t mind. I’ll return it later today.”   “I didn’t even know that was legal!” snapped Jennie     “So, your dad’s coming back in a few days, huh?” said Lisa, “I guess you'll have a lot of to prepare for! Bye!”   She hang up and Jennie slammed the phone into her pocket. Baekhyuns first phone. She wondered, for a moment, why she still had it.   When Jennie arrived at the academy to visit Kyungsoo, she was surprised to find him in full action, rehearsing a dance with his friends. A large mirror in a room that gave them space to move as far as they wanted. The ground displayed triangler shapes that helped place each member in
