Jennie X Kyungsoo.

THIS STORY IS CURRENTLY UNDER REVISION. SNIPPETS WILL BE ADDED AND DELETED AND CHAPTERS MAY EVEN DISAPPEAR. HOPEFULLY, I"LL BE ABLE TO CORRECT ALL GRAMMAR ERROR'S. IF NOT, THEN I WILL REVISE TWICE.

Foreword

BEFORE YOU READ CHAPTER 1: PLEASE READ THIS

[Hello Readers. I welcome you to the revised version of MR ANGRY.

Beware, I have completely rearranged chapters. Some chapters that were in the middle have been taken to the end (SPOILER- KIDNAPPING) Some chapters that were at the end have been taken to the middle (HIGHSCHOOL YEAR)

Chapters have been added. Chapters have been deleted. But the story still is still the same, it's just that everything happens in a different order, to raise the suspense.
Although, I have added a new scenario in the beginning.

I felt that the story had too many plotholes and was grammatically correct. My grammar is still terrible, but I hope that I have improved enough for you to read this and at least feel a little bit more.

Therefore, I welcome you to the new Prologue.

The short story before chapter 1 . This is a LONG prologue 5k BUT THE WHOLE THING MUST BE READ!! THANK YOU]

What do you mean I didn’t pass?!”

Nobody hated studying more than Jennie Kim. The very thought of books, pens and papers was more despicable to her lazy spirit than meat to a vegetarian.

Jennie Kim puffed her cheeks out, as though she hadn’t expected this day to come. As though all the months of bribing teachers wouldn’t even turn back around to bite her in the neck.

Your exams didn’t earn you enough credit to pass the year,” explained the principal.

W-What about my music exams? I composed a few pieces!” said Jennie.

I’m afraid acoustic ballads weren’t enough to earn you any music credit either,” he added. He shoved the paper toward her, “It’s a shame. I know you really did care for the arts, especially dancing, but you shouldn’t give up. Don't forget your father owns a music academy, you can always start over there.”

Jennie rolled her eyes. She didn’t want any part of her father's music academy; not willing to risk peoples expectations of her.

I’ve called your parents..” he finished and she puffed her cheeks.

He stood up, scooped up his suit-jacket from around the steel chair, and whisked out of the office.

She dropped her eyes to the printed text popping out at her like bullets. Each word worse than the next.

Huffing, she rose for the door, popped her head through for any potential spies, then pulled back in the office, swinging it shut with a click.

Once secure, she rummaged blindly through her crocodile skin purse, hands skimming past makeup products, headphones, mini-microphones, before withdrawing her cellphone.

She banged her in her friend's name and waited:

Hello?” came a high voice, muffled slightly by the sound of a vacuum, several other faint voices, and a puppy-dogs bark.

Jennie paced toward the principals leather desk chair and plumped herself down miserably. Knee pressed together from under her silk black dress. leather-covered feet shaking inches from the ground.

Hello?!” repeated her friend, this time concerned.

I didn’t pass,” said Jennie flatly.

There was silence, only muffled by the background noise of her friends home.

What?”

I didn’t pass. But I’m going to go to the ceremony anyway, I can’t miss him.”

What if they don’t let you in?”

Then I’ll stand outside and watch from the windows. I’m not scared.”

But you didn’t even-”

Jennie spun around in the seat then looked out the window into the running field, “Even if I didn’t graduate, I can’t miss this.

There was a pause and her friend released a long sigh,

Well, if you say so, but what will you do if he see’s you?”

Students in long black robes swept past Jennie, under a storm of cherry blossoms.

She held her purse helplessly and approached the gym window; the closest she’d get to attend a graduation ceremony. Her eyes caught the stage decorated with banners, the podium where a lanky boy delivered some soppy speech, the projector screen, the audience, that odd cleaner who mopped along the left aisle.

She swallowed down the hot ball in and smoothed her hands against the glass.

The paper remained unfolded in her bag, every word memorized—without intention. The devastating news she could hardly bare to recall.

The doors to the gym opened and a group of excited girls hauled outwards.

- Did you see Kyungsoo blush on stage? So cute

- Not as cute as Baekhyuns.

- no, Kyungsoo thanked his dad and actually cried! It was so sweet!

-you are both crazy! Chanyeol's the hottest!

They stopped talking, then pointed at Jennie and gushed. Stopping beside her, the lead girl tapped her shoulder, “What are you doing here? Ain’t you Jennie Kim??”

Jennie turned with a shrug, examined the three blonde girls before her, then stared back to the window.

The ceremony is for graduates. Why did you come?” asked an annoyingly squeaky voice.

I came to see Baekhyun,” answered Jennie in a strained voice.

Didn’t everybody?” chuckled another voice.

Well, isn’t he one of your best friends?” piped up a shorter blonde. “I think his speech has already been, and he mentioned you. He said that he loves you..”

Jennie whipped around: “What! He did!?” she asked in amazement, chest pounding.

They exchanged hot smiles then burst into laughter,

No! Of course not! Keep dreaming loser!”

Then they swooshed around grinning heartily, headed into the carpark.

Jennie snorted. Who the hell did those bleached blonde girls think they were? Teasing her even though all their fathers worked for her father. Her fingers reached for her phone before she could stop herself.

For some unknown reason in her wildly unaccepting mind, she called her father; “Daddy! I’m graduating today!” she declared, a good lie, she believed at that moment.

Are you quite certain? The school already called me and told me you will be repeating—“

No!” she refused, “I am graduating Dad! They got my records mixed up with another student, and so it turns out I passed the final exam after all!”

She clutched tightly onto the phone. Even if this wasn’t exactly the truth, far from it, it was worth the lie for one, small, regretful moment.

There came uneven breathing and then, “I-I’m so proud of you! I-I love you, my dear!!”

Her heart sunk and she hung up the phone. Cursing her silly hands that had reacted without thinking. This was the first time her father had ever told her he loved her and all for a lie.

Jennie banged her head with her palm, leaning from one skinny leg to another. A flame ignited in her chest. And she hurried into a nearby toilet—splashing her face in front of the graffitied mirror—panicking.

Once she returned to the gym window, Taeyeon Kim was coming on stage: Her thick black shiny locks curled under her square hat. Her oval face clear of makeup, glowing like a fairy.

When she reached the mic, she trembled into it, echoing awkwardness through the gym.

Jennie rolled her eyes. This was simply unacceptable for a girl of such high status. For a fashion model: Taeyeon's lack of confidence for everybody-but-Baekhyun always came as a great confusion.

Just then, another door slammed open and the entire audience turned.

Jennie pressed against the window, sensing danger, and there he came strolling through the hall as though he owned the place. If horror was the best word to describe her sudden discomfort, that would be an understatement. This was sheer terror. This was world war III.

! Dad!” she whispered. ” She ducked from under the window.

Crouching, then she tapped her fingers together, “Come on, think!” she panicked. She couldn’t run out of the school, because there could be a chance her dad would see her in the streets. She couldn’t stay under the window, just in case he suddenly decided he wanted to come out the back door.

Finally, she took a step...

After five minutes of mazing around the busy school grounds, she came to a small field cornered with great tree’s that— if climbed well— gave the perfect view of the “teachers staff room” from the towering building ahead.

Racing, she kicked off her shiny pink leather shoes and twined her feet and arms around a tree trunk. Taking a deep breath, she heaved herself up, foot by foot.

At last, she took hold of a branch and swung herself onto a branch, balancing both feet on the clunky bark..

There came noises from below, somewhere behind. Carefully, she twisted around and poked her head through star-shaped leaves to see a large group of boys, laughing:

"You don't think those girls are gonna find us?" the tallest boy worried.

"Of course not.." grinned another.

Jennie groaned. These were the popular boys. Each one so handsome in their own way, yet so annoying to watch.

Except for one. Her brows tensed as he came into the front.

Like a single rose to poke out from a thorn bush, he was impossible to miss. Byun Baekhyun: He had an elf-shaped face that curved at the chin smoothly. Sharp cheekbones. A cute button nose. Soft, hearty lips. And deep charismatic eyes.

To everyone, he was the popular guy, but to Jennie, he was that innocent child she met by the river ten years ago. Her true love.

He strut with sleek, sharp steps and faced down, as though deep in thought. Every so often he glanced up with a fleeting smile, as though to remind his friends that he was listening. One hand remained in his pocket and Jennie knew he was clinging to his wallet.

In a daze, her feet slowly loosened down the branch.

"Oh...I can stare at you forever Baekhyun," she whispered dreamily.

Suddenly, wind swept in like a tiny tornado. Her dress flew up with a whoosh and she screeched. Her feet slid off the branch with a rash and she came falling, screaming as her legs and skirt flew above her head.

At the speed of light, the group of boys swooped around and ran at her. But only one made the catch.

She crashed into his arms and he croaked like a seagull, toppling back and forth. Another ghast of wind pushed his balance and they plummeted into the dry blades of grass.

-Is she okay?

-Hyung!

-What was she thinking?

-I can’t believe she climbed that tree, Is she crazy!

-Wait? Is that Jennie Kim?!

Jennie kept her eyes closed, humiliated to the core, her back crushing the chest of some hero. His muscles twitched beneath her, and her leg jolted and became numb.

In a sudden, dry tobacco smoke flew up her nostrils, making her eyes shoot open, stinging.

Her hero rose, grasping her quaking body in his hot, aching arms.

She squinted, blinking through sunlight to make out a blurred face—a cigarette poked from a pair of firm, pouty lips, too pouty for a guy.

He huffed, spitting out his cigarette and digging it into the grass with his shoe, “Don’t look at me! Monkey!” he snapped. “Close your eyes idiot!”

Confused, she squinted her eyelids just enough to make out black hair, blurred round eyes, a masculine neck, and chiseled jaw. Very different from Baekhyun.

She could feel his chest, beating fast.

Th-Thank you,” she said, choking slightly.

IN a sudden, his arm came loose around her and she flopped into the dry grass, shaking like a fish.

What the hell bro?!” came a walloping voice.

You’re so weak!”

Jennie let out a wrench moan and reddened, embarrassment boiling in . Arms and legs lifeless as puppets. SHe could feel Baekhyuns feet near the top of her head and silently sulked. Why did he have to see all this?

The other guys reached out and pulled her onto two struggling legs, but her hero staggered several feet behind her.

"Baekhyun?" managed Jennie while turning to catch a glimpse of her hero.

"Y-Yes?"

"Who saved me?" she asked.

He didn't answer. WHen she opened her lips to repeat herself, somebody suddenly caressed her backside:

“Hey, don’t touch me there!”

Sorry!” he apologized.

ow! My arm hurts! Be careful!” she whined.

She finally turned right around to see her half-hero had gone. She stared, wondering how he had disappeared so fast...

There came a yell and she yanked her eyes forward…and there he was. The one person she'd been trying to avoid.

Dad!” she yelped, trying to break off her helpers grasp. Baekhyun backed away from her immediately.

He father wore a shiny black coat and silk pants, “Jennie! Where were you?!”

The boys dropped her and she wobbled into the grass on her hands and knees, “Dad!” she repeated, head firing, looking up and ahead.

He lunged forward, seized her arms, and pulled her upwards. She screeched in pain and the boys watched in surprise.

You lied to me!” yelled the father. “How dare you bribe your teachers into acing you all year! Is that what I taught you, Jennie Kim? To be a fraud?”

She trembled and turned to Baekhyun, silently begging him to step in and save her.

Baekhyun and his friends exchanged small looks but didn’t move.

"And Mrs. Zen showed me your 'music compositions', you called those four key guitar ballads art!"

He slapped her then Jennie screamed, her cheeks red: “It hasn't been easy to study when you keep taking off around the world for months at a time!”

Don’t give me that rubbish! You’ve had tutors! You’ve been too spoiled Jennie Kim! Maybe I should take everything off you! Teach you humility!”

Baekhun cleared his throat and finally stepped in, “Mr. Kim!” he interrupted, holding up his hand to initiate peace.

The father hesitated and eyed him with irritation, “Yeah what do you want Baekhyun?

She just needs a nice mentor,” he suggested.

No!” snapped Jennie, suddenly glaring at Baekhyun, “I needed you father!” she said, staring back into his dark eyes. “ WIthout support, I can't do it!”

His face dropped then there was silence.

So you need support? Is that what you’re saying? Did you lie...just to impress me?” he asked slowly.

I just need someone there for me," she explained.

You have a mother,” reminded the father. Jennie’s eyes dropped and she suppressed her anxiety by clenching onto her black skirt. Her other hand grasping onto her father's shoulder for weight support.

What happened to you?” asked the father in a low voice. “When you were a kid you were the smartest girl in school. ANd then one day, you stop talking to your mother and your grades fall apart."

She looked down and squeezed out her response, “I could never say.”

Her father stared, then shook his head grievingly, "I will find you a supervisor then...”

No!” said Jennie quickly, “I don’t want a supervisor! I'm a grown woman!”

You may be 18, but you are barely an adult!” he snapped. He then switched his focus to the group of boys who had been watching silently, “I have something to tell you boys,” he announced, a tone of voice changing.

They retreated several steps.

It has nothing to do with my family,” he assured, relieving their tensed muscles. “It's to do with your music training. I’ve received some good news regarding all of you....”

He stepped away from Jennie and she fell back onto her backside, cheek stinging, backside thumping wildly.

Without looking up, she heard their footsteps fade, carrying their great discussion into the distance.

They’re leaving me here?” she whispered in disbelief.

And then a shadow came over her, blocking out the sunlight. Smooth fingers massaged her head. Slowly, she peered up to see Baekhyun smiling down at her. His gentle, long-lashed eyes twinkling.

Tingles traveled up her arms and he reached down to pull her up, stretching her numb arm around his shoulder.

Jennie whimpered, trying not to heave to much weight onto him, “I-I’m so embarrassed Baekhyun...”

He chuckled,

Don't’ worry. This is just like you Jennie. Falling off every tree you ever climb.”

She scowled, “You know that’s not what I’m talking about...”

He huffed then pulled her in closer, tightening his arm around her waist. “Fine,” he said, “Do you want me to repeat another year with you?” he asked carelessly, “I’m already graduated now, so I can give you all the answers and be your mentor.”.

That wouldn’t be right...” she said with great surprise, “But thanks anyway Baekhyun. It’s just that—”

Her voice dropped and she stared down, only just realizing they had been staring into each others eyes. She cleared , “Thanks for always be here for me.” She mumbled.

He blushed then turned as far as his neck would allow, staring at the buildings ahead.

A figure came round the bend and Taeyeon Kim appeared. Her black shiny locks bouncing behind her pointed little ears.

Baekhyuns eyes lit up like a firework and he called out for her, “Hey! Over here Taeyeon! Come, help us!”

Jennie desperately restrained an eye-roll, eyebrows coming close together. This always happened. As though some mystic curse were demanding she and Baekhyun never be alone together. And why was it always Taeyeon?

Jennie! I just saw your father!” called Taeyeon, stopping in front of them with a wide grin. She held out her wrist to reveal a dangling pink watch. The very same watch Jennie's father once bought her.

Wow,” said Jennie numbly, “Where did you get that?” she questioned while not really wanting to hear the answer.

Your father!” said Taeyeon to which Jennie mentally deflated. “He said that since I don’t have parents he ought to buy me something t-to make up for it.” She stopped and Jennie thought she saw a tear well up in Taeyeon's eye.

He’s such a good man Jennie, you’re lucky.” she finished, cheeks tinting pink. “And I’m sorry you didn’t graduate!” she added. "But hey, what does it matter. That won't stop your musical ambitions."

Jennie looked down, feeling rather embarrassed. Taeyeon's almond fairy eyes drifted to Baekhyun and glittered into a very pretty smile, “Your speech touched my heart Baekhyun.”

Jennie puffed up her cheeks. It was just like Taeyeon to give heartfelt little words to Baekhyun like there was no-one else around.

You reached a 4.9 semester score! You should be really proud!”

She checked her watch then repeated, “a 4.9-semester score.”

The lines on Jennie’s forehead creased and she arched her brows, squeezing Baekyuns shoulder and making him twitch.

There came squeals and a great number of girls came round the bend. Before Taeyeon could react, they soared toward her..

Taeyeon broke away to congratulate her schoolmates,. Questions fired at her like bullets.

Taeyeon! We saw that music video you featured in! Did you really kiss that guy?!

Taeyeon! You're so pretty! You’re so pretty!”

Taeyeon! You should come to stay at my house for the holidays, just for a weekend of course!”

Taeyeon! Are you going to take a break from modeling!”

All Jennie could hear was “Taeyeon! Taeyeon! Taeyeon!!!”

And for a moment, she actually felt sorry for her.

Then, the girls turned and pounded Baekhyun with even more questions. He tried to laugh them off, but couldn’t quite manage.

When the girls finally left, Baekhyun and Taeyeon eyed each other with a relieved sigh then burst into laughter. But Jennie was scowling.

Taeyeon, what are you doing after this?” asked Baekhyun, as though Jennie wasn’t there.

Jennie hung her head and zoned out Taeyeon's response.

What does she have that I don't? thought Jennie.

Her eyes closed, trying to think of a single thing she had above Taeyeon. Intelligence? No. Music skills? No, Taeyeon was perfectly trained in several instruments and had mastered commercial ballet... Real friends? Maybe.

And then it came to Jennie, in a cold, silent whisper: Parents.

Jennie had parents, two functioning alive parents, and Taeyeon was an orphan. Everything she had achieved was all under her poor grandmother's guidance. She had gotten her own name out there, promoted herself into modeling. Unlike Jennie, she didn't need her parent's encouragement to get achieve anything.

And then Jennie felt confused. Not knowing whether she was allowed to hate Taeyeon or not. Not even while Taeyeon threw Baekhyun glittering smiles over her shoulder that made Jennie curl up inside.

***

What do you mean you’re taking mom on holiday without me? And why Florida? And why six months?!” moaned Jennie, crushing her elbows across the table and stomaching a flop of guilt.

Cloudy skies had gathered outside, differing from the large, warm dining area.

Her father pushed his spectacles up his nose, eyes scanning over piles of photos in front. “This holiday season I want you to study for six months, so it all works out for the best. I’ve already found someone who can train your studies, but now i’m looking for a supervisor.

Someone who won’t let you run off past 8pm. You’ll study every week for those months before repeating your final school year. And of course, your maid will receive more instructions. The supervisor will take care of that.”

But dad!” Jennie was determined to change his mind. A few weeks ago, he had promised a two-week holiday for the whole family, including the seasons. How could he suddenly change his mind so drastically?

Holiday season is only three months! Doesn’t studying for six months mean that I’ll start the new school year late? Do you know how embarassing that might be?”

She said all this very fast and her father merely shrugged. “Dad!” she repeated, squeezing herself into the table, feet slightly dangling from the floor. The large, expensive red stained chairs were slightly too high for her.

You will enter the following school year with a new attitude that will require six months preparation at the least. All the study materials are already being sent straight from the school, giving you a head start. You’ll even be getting copies of all the prefects notes over the past three years. Be grateful Jennie.”

But dad!” whined Jennie, “Six months not seeing you again? Why do you keep doing this to me!”

Her dad spoke over her, “...If I come back to find a boy lying in your bed, or bottles hiding beneath the couch, you know what will happen.”

Jennie coughed out with disgust, “Boy? I only talk to Baekhyun! Y’know? The one you keep calling “son”!”

He finally looked up, “Baekhyun is always welcome. But don’t try and fool me otherwise. You seemed awfully comfortable with more boys than him last week..

She groaned and slammed her fist onto the table, “How many times do I have to tell you! I fell down a tree and they helped me up afterward! I’m not seeing boys daddy!”

You’re going off subject,” he interrupted, sweeping the photos into a smaller pile and stacking them neatly. “I will be leaving, and while I’m gone, your mentor will train you. I don’t know who your supervisor is yet, but It’ll come to me.”

You think a supervisor can replace you?” said Jennie, imagining a scarily wrinkled old lady holding a whip between two wickedly violent hands. “The last supervisor tied me up and robbed us!” she said, wiping her mind of the unwanted whip-lady.

Now I know not to hire babysitters from that side of the city,” he muttered while withdrawing his phone.

Well, then who’s going to be my study mentor?”

Instead of answering, he asked over her, “Do you know where your mother is? We’re meant to be leaving tonight.”

Jennie froze. Her question lingering to be repeated in .

The sound of her father's phone relieved her of answering and he rose for the massive kitchen doorway:

I told you not to hire models from that agency!...... A teenager is not going to sell out refrigerators!... You’ve already sent the video?…then hang up now and tell them you’ve made a mistake!”

When that phone call finished, Jennie called out for him, only to be interrupted by another phone call. Her cheeks puffed and she tightened her limbs. This was irritating. All she wanted to know was who her study guide would be.

What do you mean you don’t want to train their breath holding underwater??...excuse me?... It has everything to do with singing!….You think we should hire a swimming coach? That will cut your wages in half!... Think about your family!... Oh- you'd prefer hot water? Fine! We’ll turn the pool into a jacuzzi! ..No!...I wasn’t serious you fool!...”

This made Jennie scowl. Clearly, her father was now online with his other business; the music academy.

Two businesses, and now a six-month vacation,” muttered Jennie, rising her feet up to the table, “When’s he gonna stop lying to me about everything?”

She looked at the chandelier and her chest filled with tears that she forced to bubble inside, “I’m starting to hate him..” she whispered.

On short notice, Jennie’s father and mother left for the airport in midday, and shockingly, an old lady carrying several suitcases arrived just in time to greet Jennie in the foreyard.

She bore a shocking resemblance to the scary whip-lady Jennie had imagined and wasn’t at all enthusiastic to work during the holiday season.

This made it all too easy for Jennie to shoo the lady away:

All it took was one diamond necklace from her jewelry cabinet, several bottles of champagne and the lady was off. Never to be seen again and leaving Jennie to grin at her amazing speed.

This meant nobody telling her when to go to bed at night. Only her father qualified for that profession, not anybody else.

As she showered, she chuckled. It seemed, she had worried about a supervisor for nothing. However, she still had one person to shoo away, and she felt that no amount of Jewelry would be able to persuade whoever this devil was.

A devil with the words “Study Mentor” written across their forehead.
