Soft footsteps drumming behind you do not go unnoticed as your pounding headache increases a notch more. “Don’t you have anything better to do?” the detective’s disgruntled voice doesn’t deter you from your work as he sits next to you on the porch steps

“Like what?” you respond, eyebrows furrowed in concentration as you work on the blue feathers of the humming bird.

“I don’t know, go sort your things out” he replied nonchalantly.

“If we’re going to end up being on the run does it make sense for me to unpack anything?” You eye him sceptically “Plus, everything I have is right beside me.”

“You’re talking about that bag aren’t you”

“There are more valuable things in my life like my art supplies. But since you have to protect me, I guess you’re included too”. A comfortable silence falls over you two, it doesn’t last long until he breaks it.

“How do you know my sister?”

“We studied for a couple of papers together. She’s a class fellow.”

“Aren’t you doing linguistics?”

Well he knows something about you. “There are common papers for those doing a BA Detective Kim” You explain as you draw the bird’s eye, you guess he’s curious about his sister. “Yejin is loved by everyone, she’s talented, beautiful and amicable.”

“Stop that” you turn to look at him with furrowed eyebrows. “Just call me Himchan”. Nodding at his request, you continue working on the bird with a paintbrush.

“I’m on first name basis with my kidnapper”

“Did she mention anything about me?”

“The whole town knows you’re her brother, rumour had it you’re a hero and hot”

He sighed, “And your thoughts?”

 You sigh as the blue steak gets lighter with each pull “They aren’t relevant”

“To me they are.”
