Among Big Shots - HiatusHad he arrived to the right address? Taecyeon questioned his navigational expertise, given the massive construction of glass and concrete that rose several stores above the ground in front of him. In confusion, his gaze wandered left and right along the street. There weren't any other buildings on the block, though, making him figure that it had to be correct.
Whoever had designed and decorated the building had a rather particular taste, mixed with exclusivity and modernism. Not to mention whoever paid for the whole shenanigan. Evidence of their sense of style displayed profoundly through the interior. Sunlight glistened in the floor of white marble, he noticed while he walked by a massive wall of only windows from ground to roof, heading towards revolving doors of stainless steel along with other men and women.
Once Taecyeon had passed through, he came to a stop. Although he felt his lips fall apart, he couldn't stop it… the lobby was enormous!
It was three stores to the ceiling. At least. To his left, a large lounge and waiting area had been placed. White armchairs and sofas, designed in baroque style, stood in different arrangements over a vastly extensive carpet colored navy. Trees, bushes and flowers in pots of various sizes fit in flawlessly. Tables and lanterns filled the space without overcrowding. Magazine racks offered newspapers and journals of international origins. Even a coffee shop existed…
"Ok Taecyeon?" he heared. Awakening from his amasement, he looked ahead and found a tall, youthful woman in front of him. Her slim body wore a white blazer over a black blouse and skirt with matching heels. Only a pair of crystal earrings adorned her while her caramel brown hair hung straight down her shoulders.
"Yes?" was his confused reply, uncertain if they had met some time. Taecyeon, for one, didn't recognize her. If they knew of each other, he'd most likely remember the woman, given her elegant beauty and feminity.
A polite smile lifted the corners of . "Good. Would you kindly follow me?"
Without waiting for a reply, she spun around and began to walk to their right. Confused, Taecyeon looked to his sides, to check whether she actually spoke to him or somebody else. Seeing no one nearby, he figured she had addressed him. Particularly when he noticed that she'd stopped by security turnstiles and stared back at him with patient expectation in her dark hazel eyes.
Feeling rude, Taecyeon hurriedly rushed to her side, where several suited guards were positioned. One, specially, sent him a suspicious look with a raised brow, as if questioning the newcomer and his behavior. Taecyeon simply ignored the older man and focused on circumventing others heading in the same direction.
Near enough to catch a glimpse of the technical system, he noticed that everyone who passed each glass gate had a certain card in their possesion, which allowed them passage. They had it scanned and, when it lit green and was approved, the doors opened before they continued. He didn't have such a card.
"Sir," reached his attention and he spotted the young woman by another, wider entrance next to the reception. "This way, please."
Quite embarrassed, he left the cue and rushed to her side. By her command, a clerk opened the doorway from behind the desk. The woman went through first and Taecyeon followed swiftly, passing the older man whose suspicions of him must've intensified. His cheeks felt mildly warmer as he went by and decided to ignore the stare he received.
They had a bit to walk through a wide corridor, leading to either a broad glass staircase or beyond. Accompanying the young woman, he proceeded down the hall and rounded a corner. Along the wall on their left had six elevators been placed and operated without cease. Probably due to the morning rush. The young woman had stopped to wait, only to enter a lift once available. He came after. Several others joined the ride for a few tense, awkward moments.
Numerous minutes ticked away until they reached their floor. They were the only ones still in the elevator as everyone else had already stepped off. The doors slid open smoothly and silence greeted them. Surprised by the audible change from loud chatters and footsteps to nothing, Taecyeon guessed that it was due to the lack of employees. He spotted approximately three people as they wandered through a long, bright corridor decorated with only paintings and plants. One left.
"Welcome to the main office of Im Media, from where Miss Im operates and manages," said the young woman, her first words since they went through the safety turnstil
