Hongbin peeked through the gaps of the rocks, watching the ship from afar. There was a celebration going on for the prince’s coming-of-age ceremony. The bright lights were beautiful and the mermaid just could not helped but be drawn in. Glancing at her surroundings, she decided to take a risk and swam closer to the ship. The music played by the ones onboard were captivating and Hongbin found herself swishing her tail in rhythm. A sudden storm took the calm waters by surprise, and the ocean became a terror. Huge waves crashed onto the wooden structure and eventually another hit the ship hard, breaking the hull. Screams muffled by the raging weather and Hongbin hurriedly swam away. Everyone rushed to the rescue boats and while some managed to escape to calmer waters, a few were swept away. The handsome man that took the mermaid’s breath away began to drown as his boat was damaged by the waves. Without much thought, she swam towards him and brought him to safety. Hongbin managed to get all the waters out of the man and she stared at the male’s face. For a moment, the man seems to have regain consciousness, opening his eyes a little and causing the mermaid to be shocked. The eyes closed immediately and the light breathing confirmed that the man fell asleep. Despite wanting to stay with the man, there were sounds coming from away and Hongbin swiftly dived back into the sea.

The man was taken to safety by a female and her attendants and with a sigh of relief, Hongbin left for home.

I have a desire to write a dark fairy tale for a while. Let's hope this particular one will be completed someday hehe
