It was a warmer Christmas this year, and even though it was already nearing the end of December there still wasn’t any snow falling.

Ranhi wasn’t complaining though. She always hated winter anyway, because the snow made it hard for her to do the usual things she liked to do like running or swimming.

And it was the perfect chance to visit an amusement park because she didn’t have to worry about sudden snowstorms or any of the likes.

She bought her single ticket and explored the whole park, enjoying herself thoroughly even though she was alone.

And if you were curious why she was alone, her friends were all enjoying their own Christmas dates and our dear Ranhi was still miserably single.

It wasn’t that she didn’t like being single; in fact, she loved it because she could do things that she liked without worrying about what others would think or say.

But when she saw the couples around her whispering sweet nothings to each other and sharing cotton candies, she couldn’t help but wish that she had someone to do that with, too.

As the night was slowly approaching, Ranhi had finished almost all the rides (being a single rider had its perks) and the annual Christmas fireworks were starting soon. She decided to take the cable car up to the top to catch a better view and she joined the single riders queue.

The queue moved pretty fast and within five minutes, she was called over to a cable car waiting for her.

The cable car was pretty small, with only space for two people, and she noticed that the guy she was sharing the cable car with was pretty cute.

But Ranhi kept her thoughts to herself – she wasn’t the type to be proactive anyway – and enjoyed the view.

The cable car jerked suddenly, and Ranhi held her hands against the sides to stabilize herself.

“Oh no,” The guy opposite her muttered. “, , .”

Ranhi furrowed her brows and reached over lightly to tap his knee. “Are you okay?” When he didn’t respond, Ranhi continued. “I’m sure it’s just a short stop anyway; the cable car will be moving in no time.”

But he wasn’t paying attention to her; and wait, was he hyperventilating?

“Yah, relax.” Now Ranhi was starting to panic, too, with the way he was acting.

“I can’t,” He finally croaked out. “I get panic attacks easily and my heart goes into overdrive.”

Ranhi mentally smacked herself. Great, of all the people she could’ve rode the cable car with she got one with a heart problem.

“Okay, just… breathe. Relax.” She moved over to sit with him and patted his back in a slow rhythmic pattern. “What’s your name?”

“Taehyung,” He took a deep breath. “Kim Taehyung.”

“Okay Taehyung. I’m Lee Ranhi.” She smiled. “Which part of Korea are you from?”

“Daegu.” His breathing started to sound more normal, and Ranhi nodded.

“Ah… I’m from Busan, but you can’t hear any accent from me, can you?” She grinned and Taehyung looked up at her.

“Huh, wouldn’t have guessed you’re from Busan, really.” He cracked a smile. “Can you call me oppa in your accent though? I always wanted to hear it in real life.”

Ranhi blinked at his request but shrugged. It was just a name anyway. “Oppa-yah~”

Taehyung bit back a grin at the girl in front of him. She wasn’t that bad looking now that his breathing had regulated and he was thankful for her for distracting his thoughts.

“Happy?” Ranhi raised an eyebrow and Taehyung nodded, smiling. “So are you schooling in Seoul like me?”

“Not really. I’m here for an audition actually. And since it’s my last day in Seoul I wanted to enjoy myself before I go back.”

“Guess it’s a heap load of fun, huh?” She rolled her eyes sarcastically. The cable car jerked again, and it started moving.

“Oh, it’s moving again!” Taehyung breathed out a sigh of relief as they slowly approached the other end and they got off together.

“Thanks for earlier,” He smiled.

“No worries,” She waved the matter away. “Since you’re alright now, I guess I’ll be going off then.”

She turned around but at the next moment, she was turned back by Taehyung holding onto her shoulder.

“Wait!” He cleared his throat. “Why not we catch the fireworks together and go down together later? You know, in case I get another panic attack while going down again.”

Ranhi couldn’t help but chuckle at the cute expression on his face and pretended to contemplate. “Hmm… I guess we could. Wouldn’t want you to faint on the cable car later, would we?”

Taehyung bit back a smile. “I think that spot is better for viewing the fireworks,” He pointed to the far right. “Let’s go there!” He slipped his hands into hers and dragged her along, enjoying the feeling of her hands in his.

And although Ranhi wasn’t one to hold a guy’s hand when she barely knew him, she couldn’t help but like how her hands fitted right in his, and the warmth it gave her.

Ranhi looked at the boy in front of her, dragging her to the prime spot for viewing fireworks and her heart skipped a beat.

So maybe taking a cable car with someone who is panic-attack prone wasn’t that bad after all.
