Twenty Nine
The Clock's FootstepsDriving back home, I sat hand in hand with Jay. Jay had a slick dark suit on, with a nice large platinum watch. I could see the brown eyeshadow colored in the shaved lines on his eyebrow, making him look a lot kinder. I always laugh at him because of it.
We drove into the driveway, I asked him how he liked work.
“Yo, I get why that James guy was so proud of his job. I mean you can really change someone’s personality with clothes like this,” Jay smoothed out his sleeves.
“Don’t get too carried away,” I laughed. “You’re only an assistant.”
“Assistant for the chairman,” Jay corrected. “Higher than you were when you got into Yoon Designs.”
“That’s because you have the right connections,” I playfully nudged.
We got out of the car and went into the house. We still lived with Rachel at the dreamlike house. When we got inside, I saw Sabrina waiting for us with Rachel, sipping on tea. Surprisingly, Rachel had a speedy recovery. She had color back to her face, she didn’t need the wheelchair anymore, and she got her full sass back. For someone that had a coma for fifteen years, she just seemed as if she had gotten rid of a cold.
“Hi Sabrina,” I greeted, passing my purse to Kelly, after a quick hug.
“Hey sweetie. How was work?”
“It was fine. Nothing too crazy,” I replied, pouring myself and Jay a cup of tea as well.
