My True Talent
Let's Go Find Love!I sit and watch him practice. He is so focused that it was almost beautiful. It was as if no one but him was there. I watch in awe of his majestic art of dancing and singing.
“He really is something, huh,” a voice says above me.
I look up. ‘It’s the dancer that pulled Kim Hyun Joong away from me.’ I think to myself. I instantly jump up.
“It’s me. Sorry for startling you,” he says to me.
“Ani-yo! I!....” I say loudly. I quickly try to calm myself down.
Everyone stares for a moment, including Kim Hyun Joong, before resuming practice.
“You’re an active one,” he teases, “I am going to have fun with you.”
I look at him nervously. ‘What is he talking about?’ I ask myself.
“Annyeonghaseyo, my name is Toa Haha,” he says as he bows, “I am one of Kim Hyun Joong’s back up dancers and best friends.”
I quickly return the greeting and bow, “annyeonghaseyo, my name is Ah Mor Ri. Nice to meet you.”
He smiles at me. “Shall we immediately drop the formalities? Call me Haha oppa or if you want just op-.” He is suddenly pulled back.
It’s Kim Hyun Joong. “You should be practicing,” he tells him. He then looks at me and asks, “he isn’t causing you any trouble, is he?”
“Ani-yo, hyung. I’m simply trying to have a conversation,” Haha states.
“Come, we need to talk about some stage set ups,” Kim Hyun Joong says as he pulls Haha away.
I resume my previous position of sitting and watching.
...
…
At one point, I get so bored that I decide to stand and walk around. I notice a piano at the far corner of the room and walk towards it. I instinctively start playing.
“You seem pretty good at this,” a voice interrupts me.
It’s Toa Haha again.
“Well…I’ve been playing for quite some time now...” I say instantly. I immediately stand up, embarrassed. “Mian-hae! I shouldn’t have played the piano … especially since you guys were practicing.”
“Gwenchana, Mor Ri,” he says, “we were not practicing at all. Just going over some stage stuff.”
“I know but I shouldn’t have wondered.”
“Do you sing as well?” he asks.
I get caught off guard before I continue. “I don’t sing. Not publically anyways.”
“You should try.”
“I can’t!” I say while blushing.
“Come on. Try!” he soft-heartedly demands. “Are you scared?”
“No, I just don’t want to.”
“Lame. You probably don’t have talent anyways,” he bluntly says as he walks away.
‘This guy is like a child…’ I think to myself. “Okay, fine,” I say. Not wanting to give in to his accusation of me being scared or talentless.
…
..
The room is silent. I look around only to see staring eyes. ‘Maybe this was a bad idea…’ I think to myself.
“DAEBAK!” Toa Haha finally shoots. Everyone immediately rushes over. “You have a beautiful voice! I think I’m in love!”
I become embarrassed and begin blushing.
“…gamsahabnida..” I say shyly.
“Why don’t you try out to become a singer?” he asks.
“Ani-yo…I’m not that good,” I say shaking my hands in front of me.
“You really do have an angelic voice,” a voice says from afar.
I spot the man who just spoke barely walking into the group.
“Annyeonghaseyo, my name is Tim Lee Lo. I am a good friend of Toa Haha and Kim Hyun Joong,” he greets me.
“Yeah, he doesn’t seem to have anything else to do,” a random dancer jokes.
The dancer is quickly nudged on the ribs by Tim Lee Lo. “I do other things to,” he objects.
“Yeah, hunting for women,” another dancer jokes.
They all laugh.
