We sit at the table awkwardly.  There is one girl in between us but we have yet to speak to one another.  The guide, who seems to be good friends with him, is sitting on the other side, beside him.

“Annyeonghaseyo, I am Kim Hyun Joong.  I hope you guys enjoy the meal,” he greets us.

“He says hello everyone and he wishes that everyone enjoys the meal,” the guide translates.

“Gamsahabnida!” everyone replies.

We begin eating and mingling amongst ourselves.  He is speaking only to the tour guide and I talk amongst my friends.

“Ugh, I wish we knew what they were saying,” a girl says.

“Maybe you should ask Dee Jiho.  She is Korean,” Vivi mischievously insists.

“Very funny,” Dee Jiho says while rolling her eyes.

“Hyung, should I try answering some questions these ladies might have or something?” Kim Hyun Joong asks.

“Pffft ani-yo, ani-yo. Maybe after we have our meal,” the tour guide replies.  He begins speaking in English, “Okay everyone. After our meal we can have a chat with Kim Hyun Joong.  This is when you can ask him any questions you might have.”

Everyone shakes their heads.

“Oh my god! I am so excited,” Dee Jiho says, “he is so handsome.  Maybe I should ask him if he would marry me.”

“Yeah! You should!” a girl in the group says excitedly.

Dee Jiho smiles. “Alright! I’m going to google it right now.”

“Jolang gulhun hejuleh-yo?” I say.

Everyone stares at me. Including Kim Hyun Joong.

“What are they saying?” Kim Hyun Joong asks the tour guide, blushing.

I reply to Kim Hyun Joong in Korean also blushing, “she asked how to say ‘Will you marry me?’ in Korean.  Please don’t misunderstand.”

“You know Korean?” he asks as his eyes widen in awe.

“Yeh…” I reply shyly.

“You know Korean?!” all the girls ask in unison.

“Of course she does,” Vivi replies for me confidently, “she was like the only one that studied Korean vigorously before coming here.”

“Oh you are cool,” Mari says with a smile.

Meanwhile the tour guide is translating the conversation for Kim Hyun Joong.  After he finishes he asks me in Korean, “daebak! Why didn’t you saying anything?”
“…I don’t know…I guess I didn’t want to be given any special treatment,” I honestly reply.

Kim Hyun Joong gives me a small smile, “you are a very nice girl.”

I blush a bit. “Gamsahabnida.”

The discussion then dies and we continue.

Shortly after, however, I feel eyes looking at me.  I look over at Kim Hyun Joong.

“So did you really learn because of your trip here?” he then asks.

“Ani-yo!  I’ve been studying it for some time now,” I say blushing, “I just finally got the chance to use it properly.”
“You speak quite well for a beginner,” the tour guide compliments me.

“Gamsahabnida,” I thank him.

“Hey, do you want to switch seats?” the girl in between me and Kim Hyun Joong asks.

Before I could say anything, however, she is already up and ready to make the switch.  I promptly oblige. “Thank you,” I tell her in English.

She gives me a smile.

“Well, look at that,” Dee Jiho interrupts, “big shot over here thinks she is so cool just because she knows Korean.”

“No,” I reply to her in English, “please don’t misunderstand me.  Like I said before, I didn’t wanted to stand out just because I know Korean.”

“Pfft… whatever…” she says while rolling her eyes, “stop hogging the attention.”

“I don’t mean to…”

“Is she causing you problems?” Kim Hyun Joong asks me.

“Ani-yo. Gwenchana,” I quickly respond.

“Excuse me, young lady,” the tour guide finally says, “please be respectful.”

Dee Jiho rolls her eyes again, “Okay I will.”  She then glares at me.

“She is bothering you, isn’t she?” Kim Hyun Joong asks me again.

“Ani-yo! …” I respond again.  I quickly recollect myself.  “Gwenchana….really…”
