Best Friend-Zoned
Hi. It's me again! XD

A fairly long and random and annoying chapter.

JeTi centred for all of you who are deprived :P

3:43 AM
Tiffany isn't able to sleep, even with Jessica, hugging her tightly. The girl's uneven breathing usually calmed the former down but this time she cannot seem to. She just cannot go to sleep. Scared that she will interrupt her best friend's deep slumber, she decided that it is best, she left the room.

Tiffany headed straight to the living room to calm her storm of a mind.

She is currently suffering from a very stressful disease called ConfusedAboutWhatTheHellIsGoingOn-itis. Do not worry, it is not contagious. Only people who are unaware about their feelings, suffer from this illness.

According to the book of nonsense that Tiffany has read, all she needs at the moment is deep thinking. Being out all of her inner feelings and break them down to parts so little, even her dense self could understand.

If the book wasn't any nicer, it would have just stated

"You're in love, fool. And you better realize it before the pit of regret swallows you whole."

But no, they must stay professional. Instead, the book stated

"All individuals who suffer from the so called illness, seem to experience loss towards something or someone they used to love. It is common that most people go through this sickness due to jealousy. Their past possession has grown liking towards someone else who valued their worth when their loved one could not. Seeking comfort but not to the person they used to be attached to.

The only solution to this problem is, know their worth. If you are experiencing loss towards someone you love, perhaps they have found a new person they can pay attention to who will gladly reciprocate their feelings. You must let them know how much you value that person. All you need to do is love them. Maybe you have, you were just lost in your own thoughts that you mistook your feelings for something else.

Confess. Or at least let them know what they mean to you. Before someone claims your world, and make it their own."

Tiffany couldn't help but pull her hair, ruffling it to no end, out of frustration. She did not know what to do.

She felt different being with Jessica.

It was not the bad kind of different. In fact, she liked it. No, she loved it. Jessica's melodious voice has been echoing in her mind over and over again. Not that she minded. She was just lost. This has never happened before.

But now, everything has changed.

Jessica's smile that she really did not pay much attention to considering she saw it often, now became the reason why her whole day is made.

Jessica's hugs that used to do nothing beyond cheering her up, was now the reason for the butterflies that is dancing crazily in her stomach. And she doesn't think it's just butterflies. No, it's way more than that. It felt like there was a whole Amazon inside of her when Jessica embraced her earlier.

And sleeping closely on the same bed used to be nothing to her. Now, it means everything. It gave her thoughts that if her Christian parents heard, dear god they would send her to the friar immediately for a confession of sins and a whole damn lot of blessing. She thought that maybe swimming in a pool of holy water would cleanse her thoughts but she doubts it. That's how bad this situation was. That's how insane Jessica's effect on her is. That even her good girl thoughts are getting affected.

This was not the same Tiffany anymore.

The Tiffany that thinks of nothing but a world splashed in all shades of pink. The Tiffany that means nothing more than someone's friendship. The Oh so innocent Tiffany.

No.

This was the Tiffany that thinks kissing her bestfriend who was already taken, would be a good idea. The Tiffany that wants to tell Nana to back off because her bestfriend is hers and hers only. But of course, she cannot do that because the girl did her no harm and that she actually takes care of Jessica well, pampering her greatly. But the point is, this Tiffany was selfish. She always got what she wanted and right now, that is to keep her best friend in her arms.

She does not think it is a good idea. Her thoughts are out of this world. It's is wrong.

So wrong.

In so many levels.

Firstly, she thinks that talking trash about her best friend's girlfriend is a bad idea. Horrible even. She knows that they genuinely have feelings for each other and she cannot sabotage that. Well, actually she-- No. She cannot. She should not.

She did not hear a peep of dirt about Nichkhun from Jessica though Tiffany knew well that the girl did not like him one bit. The latter was always supportive of Tiffany, encouraging the girl to do what she desires for she is young.

Tiffany let out a frustrated and overly stressed groan expressing her fatigue towards her situation right now.

She horizontally positioned herself on the Jung's comfortable sofa bed, resting her head on its armrest and laying her arm over her tired eyes. Hoping to get the sleep she has been desiring for hours.

***

Tiffany was resting against a tree looking at the worst sight she has ever come across. It's not that it was filthy, in fact it was perfectly clean. Though she would prefer the view of the city dump over this. The sight she was currently watching. Like the sweetest, cheesiest and most romantic movie she would never want to see. She was watching her worst nightmare.

Nana and Jessica together

They were not only together. They were overly close and touchy. Jessica was sitting on Nana's lap while she was playing with the older girl's hair, observing every inch of Jessica's face as if it was the most precious masterpiece she has ever laid eyes on. The older of the two seems to be peacefully sleeping on the girl's thighs.

"Princess, I love you." Tiffany heard Jessica say.

Although she knew the words were not for her
Though she knew that she was just being delusional,
Though it hurts like she has never imagined.

She hoped.

Although she was being ridiculous,
Making herself pitiful,
Pathetic,

She wished.

Wished that maybe it was meant for her. Hoped that Jessica just mistook the person she was supposed to say those wonderful words to. Maybe somehow, those were for her.

She did not notice that she was already shedding tears as she watched the heart breaking view right in front of her eyes. She did not pay attention to the way her lips quivered uncontrollably as she tried to hold the pain inside.

Why was she the only one hurting? OhLittle did she know

***

"Tiff? Tiffany.. Steph. Wake up." Tiffany groggily sat up as the view of the person who has been causing all the drama inside her head, appeared before her eyes.

"What's wrong princess?" Princess. Tiffany did not want to hear that name.

"What do you mean?" She said between stutters. She does not know why, but she was feeling a slight weaker today. Actually, she knew. But God knows she will never admit it to herself.

"You were crying in your sleep, Steph. What's wrong?" Tiffany knows that Jessica is serious about a certain matter when she calls her by her real name. Jessica is the only person that calls her by that name. Not even her family or the gang do.

"I had a dream.. The person very very important to me, left." Left me for someone else.

"What? Don't worry Steph, it's just a dream. It's not gonna happen okay? And even if everyone leaves, you know that I'm always here. I'll stay with you no matter what." But what the hell do I do when you were that person?

"Okay. You promise?"

"I swear. Cross my heart."

"Even if you're with someone already?"

"Yes. I will always be here Tiff."

Jessica pulled Tiffany for a tight embrace, sending every reassurance the girl needs.

Tiffany's tears flowed heavier after feeling Jessica's sincere words. It meant a lot to her. A lot.

It took about half an hour or so, before The girl finally calmed down.

"Hey, I'm free today until about 4PM. Wanna go somewhere? Like an amusement park or something?" Jessica suggested.

The older of the two knows everything about Tiffany. Her moods, her childish liking, her mature side, etc. and seeing the girl bawl her eyes out over a dream that must've been terrifying, she decided to invite the girl out for some fun.

Tiffany could not help but admire the soft look in Jessica's gaze. Sure, she may look cold but the real Jessica Jung is soft as a marshmallow.

In the end, they both agreed on going out for a date. Friendly date.

It looked like it was about to rain but neither of them cared. They both loved amusement parks and rain. Going out on a gloomy weather was perfect for the duo.

Tiffany was excitedly hopping and skipping towards the entrance while the other just took her time and walked calmly, but like the former, she had a gorgeous grin plastered on her face.

After checking in for an all day pass, they both ran to their favourite ride. Even without the exchange of words, they both knew where they were headed. The slingshot

They were both the oddballs in the crowd for everyone seem to loathe that particular ride. Only a few, dares to experience that heart stopping ride.

Because there was no such thing as a line of people in their favourite ride, they both headed straight for the attendant to sign the wavers.

Most people were terrified of the slingshot. Even just watching people experience the overwhelming ride, makes them wonder how someone can have courage like such.

But the JeTi duo was different. They like to start their day in the park by experiencing the intense adrenaline that the slingshot gives off.

Perfectly and safely seated with a smug look on their faces. They were ready.

Gasps were heard all over the area as numerous amounts of people stare in awe and admiration towards the two girls. They were all surprised by Tiffany's happy squeals.

And as the ride ended, they were both laughing at each other's facial expression when they were boosted up the air.

What a way to start the day.

It's only been a few minutes and Tiffany already forgot about her dream. Because right now, Jessica was with her. At the moment, It was the two of them against the world.

Now that they were both pumped for the day. A great feeling of rush are running through their bodies, making them feel unstoppable. Invincible.

They ran for the line of rollercoaster next.

Then the bump cars.

The Ferris wheel.

The pirate ship.

The swing boat.

And the topple tower.

The next thing the knew, it was already 1:30PM and they were both Starving.

They took a short food break, deciding on which food to buy.

"I want churros, a slice of veggie pizza, diet coke and fries."

Tiffany rubbed her stomach just thinking about having those glorious food in front of her. Jessica couldn't help but chuckle at her best friend's childishness.

"Yes ma'am. I'd have poutine and root beer, I guess? Oh. And I want churros too. I'll go order. Just stay here."

"But I'll pay--" she was cut off by Jessica.

"I'll pay Tiff, don't worry about it." Jessica ruffled Tiffany's hair before patting it lightly and heading straight for the cashier.

There it is again. Tiffany's heart started beating erratically again. She was glad that her long hair covered her ears for she felt they were burning hot and crimson colour.

Jessica came back with a big tray of food.

"Here you go, Tiff. Eat up!"

Tiffany ravished the food like an excited puppy receiving it's favourite treat. She ate messily.

Jessica ate her food calmly and with class, opposite to the girl across her. She was unknowingly smiling at the sight in front of her. A girl that does not care about her image at all. The girl eating her food like there is no tomorrow. Stuffing her face with pizza after churros after fries then gulping it all down with a sip of diet coke. She had sauce all around but she did not mind. All she cared about at the moment was how good the food was.

"Tiff.."

"Hmm?" The younger of the two didn't even both looking up. She just hummed in response.

"Look at me."

The moment she looked up, it felt like the whole world stopped. Jessica had the brightest, prettiest, fluffiest smile, Tiffany has ever seen. She thinks that her eye smile was not the best, it was Jessica's. The latter reached out her Tiffany's face, wiping the sauce that somehow made itself outside the girl's mouth.

"Aish, look at you eating messily. What an adorable kid, you are."

Jessica finished wiping Tiffany's face, ending it with a light pat on the girl's right cheek that was a deep shade of pink.

She was flustered. Even more by the fact that Jessica played everything so casually.

"I'm full and quite tired? Do you want to go back home now?" Jessica asked, cleaning up her garbage. Tiffany stared at her with a sleepy expression, nodding without effort.

"Let's go then." Jessica offered her hand that Tiffany shyly took and they headed back out for the car.

The blushing Hwang slumped her body against the shot gun seat. Sleeping off her exhaustion from the fun day they just had.

Jessica settled down the driver's seat before taking a look at her best friend who was sleeping peacefully like an adorable bear.

She could not resist. She could not help but pinch her cheek.

"You're the cutest." Before focusing her attention back up front and driving off.

In the middle of driving, she could hear uncomfortable whimpers coming from the girl beside her. Hearing that, she gently placed her right hand on top of Tiffany's leg and started caressing it, lightly humming to a song that had been stuck in her head, call you mine

"Can I call you my own and can I call you my lover?
Call you my one and only girl
Can I call you my everything, call you my baby?
You're the only one who runs my world.

Tiffany woke up from the sweet melody that she was hearing. She turned her sleepy gaze towards Jessica and listened lovingly.

"Oh, you're awake already." Jessica smiled without turning her focus away from the road.

"Yes." Tiffany stuttered.

"You know that you're the prettiest when sleeping peacefully. You could totally be sleeping beauty. Incredibly beautiful even when asleep." Jessica said, softly.

The sleepy girl beside her was now wide awake from the confess rip she just heard. She could feel her heart melting from everything she just heard.

"Uh, I don't think that's true. I'm not that pretty, Jessi."

Tiffany looked down.

"For me, you're the prettiest. I've been with you all my life and I can honestly say that you're gorgeous in every way."

"Don't you think your girlfriend would get jealous hearing that?"

She tried her best to sound like she's teasing. Though inside she could feel a part of her die from saying the dreadful word. She basically slapped herself with the fact that her bestfriend already has a lover. A girlfriend. Someone that's not her.

Is it her fault?

For she was the stupid one who wasted months of her life on someone who does nothing but pay attention to himself.

She remembered Jessica's words. Mistakes are just another way of teaching you a lesson

"I don't think she'll be jealous. She has no reason to be. I love her. And I'm just telling the truth. My bestfriend is gorgeous."

BEST FRIEND

Best friend

Best

Friend.

Jessica did not notice the way Tiffany's lips trembled.

The way her eyes watered a little.

The way her voice cracked when she said "Really? She must be perfect for you."

The rest of the ride home was quite. One thought of it was comfortable silence while the other wanted nothing more but to get off the car and lock herself in her room.

Once they arrived, Tiffany immediately got off and shut the door closed. Waving to Jessica, who rolled the window down for a quick message.

"I had a blast, Tiff. It's been a while since we spent time together, just the two of us. We gotta do it more often. Anyway, I gotta go pick up Nana for dinner. See you around!

Oh, and since I paid for everything, I guess we could consider earlier as a date." Jessica winked playfully, laughing lightly before driving off.

Tiffany remained frozen on spot, processing everything.

D A T E

Since I paid for everything, I guess we could consider earlier as a

Date

Tiffany's legs almost gave out on her, feeling weak and numb.

She ran all the way to her bedroom and jump on her bed.

A date.

'Stop. Jessi, please. I'm begging you. Do not play me like this. Do not give me false hope. Please stop making me like you deeper in a way I never imagined I would.

Oh the irony. How it was her saying those words now.

Tiffany buried her face on her favourite pillow and she hoped that this time, she would not have a dream like the one she had this morning.

She hoped that her heart would not break any more.

She hoped that in her dreams, it was her who was happy.

She wished that in dreamland, she was the one in Jessica's arms.

And sinful and selfish as it may sound,

She wished that in her dreamland,

She was Jessica Jung's girlfriend
