IF IT'S MEANT TO BE, IT WILL BE

“Na, the flowers are here!” My aunty yelled up the stairs, hoping me would hear her.
“Okay! Thanks Aunty!” I replied from upstairs. She and a couple other people were helping me get dressed. My dress was like a gown. It was a gorgeous dress. It was a sleeveless dress with thick straps that could be worn on the shoulders or leaning off the shoulders. It had beaded work on the torso part of the dress and the bottom part bloomed out like a fairy tale dress that belonged to a princess. It was a bit puffy but it didn’t have as long a train.

The veil was just as gorgeous. It had a crown and my face covered on the front and my hair covered in the back. It had bits of tiny pearls embedded into it making it look every bit exquisite. My hair was tied up with the curls stuck to my head and i looked like a Barbie doll if not a princess.

My bride’s maids were also dressed in their beautiful burgundy dresses. The dresses looked exactly the same as my dress from the back with thin straps that crisscrossed all the way down. And going down the spine were little flowers that completed the dresses.

The flowers that I was to hold down the aisle weren’t the normal white flowers. Instead i chose to go down with burgundy roses the same colour as the bride’s maids’ dresses. This was because the first gift i ever got from Hyun Joong were those roses at the lodge two years ago. And the flowers that the bride’s maids were to hold were white roses that matched with my dress.

“There, that should do it,” my mom said as she finished placing a pearl necklace around my neck. “You look….amazing,” she said starting to cry.
“Mom, don’t. You promised you wouldn’t cry,” I said taking off my long white glove and wiping away my mom’s tears.

“I know, but I can’t help it. My child is getting married. I think I have the right to cry,” she defended herself as she got a tissue and wiped away.
“Mom….” I said as i hugged my mom.
“Hey, now if you cry I’m going to kill you,” she laughed pulling away and looking at my face. “You’ll mess up your make-up.”
“See, that’s where I’m ahead of you. I told myself that I was never going to wear mascara on my wedding day,” I laughed causing my bride’s maids to laugh with me. Just then we heard a knock on the door. “Come in,” I said. With the invitation, my dad walked into the room with a camera.

“Whoa, Nadia. You look gorgeous,” he said in the most fatherly way possible. It was hard for my father to acknowledge the fact that his little girl was all grown up and about to belong to another man.
“Thank you daddy,” I said hugging him almost ready to cry. He then pulled away from me and asked if he could get a couple of pictures with the whole bridal party. Everybody gathered close together and took the pictures. Then we opened a bottle of champagne and celebrated.

“To Nadia….her last few hours as a single woman and a J,” ‘Amy’ toasted raising her glass.
“To Nadia,” everyone cheered as they took sips of their champagne.
“I’m sorry to interrupt, but the limo’s here,” ‘Yoon Ah’ said as she came upstairs with the news. She too was one of the bride’s maids because she was one of the first people who befriended me when i first went to Hyun Joong’s home, and we had grown close over the years.

“Thanks Yoon Ah,” my mother said. This caused my stomach to do flip-flops. I was trying to convince myself that i wasn’t nervous and that all of this would be over in a couple of hours, but the limousine was a sign that i was getting closer to marrying the man of my dreams. “Okay, is everyone ready? Do we have everything Nadia?” my mom asked as everyone started to file out of the room.

“Um, I think so,” I replied uncertain, my mind somewhere else. My mother sighed at the uncertainty of her daughter and felt she should run through a list of things that i might be forgetting.
“Do you have your purse?”
“Check.”
“Do you have the flowers?”
“Mandy?! Grab the flowers!” I yelled downstairs. “Yep we have the flowers,” I gave my mom a sly grin.
“Do you have your suitcase for the honeymoon?” I looked around and remembered that they had already put it in the car.
“Check.”

“Well, that’s all that I can think of,” My mom said looking around my room once more making sure we had everything.
“Okay, well then I guess we can go now. Besides, I don’t want my groom to think I stood him up at his own wedding,” I said as i winked at my mom in a playful manner.
“Well get a move on it then,” she replied smacking my bum as if to tell me to hurry up. I couldn’t help but laugh at my mom as we walked out the room and headed down the stairs to the limo.

There inside was the whole bridal party along with my parents. The limo was crowded but it was fun because I was spending my last few single hours with the people i loved the most. They were sitting and laughing and talking about my childhood, when we reached the wedding saloon. We quickly got out of the limo and hurried our way into a room in the saloon before the groom and his party got a chance to sneak a peek at us. The day was gorgeous outside for July. It was sunny and the sky was clear not showing a single trace of rain.

Finally, it was time for my entrance. Me and my father waited behind the doors as the flower girls and bride’s maids along with the ring bearers made it down the aisle. Then the music began to play which was my cue. Just before the doors opened, me and my dad had a little moment.

“I want you to know that your mother and I are very proud of you. We just want to see you happy and that you are when you’re with Hyun Joong,” he began making my eyes fill with tears. “We love you very much and we hope your love for us won’t change once you’re married to him,” my father ended.

“Daddy, I love you and mom. And no ring on my finger is going to change that,” I said hugging my dad. I then quickly pulled away as i felt the doors were about to open, and just then they did. Hyun Joong who was waiting at the end of the aisle was left breathless when he saw me at the other end of the aisle looking more stunning than ever. I looked right at him and smiled even though my stomach was filled with butterflies.

“She looks amazing, doesn’t she?” Hyun Joong said without even turning around to face his groom’s men. He heard a simple “Yeah,” from all of them and waited for me to approach him. My father then started to lead me down the aisle very slowly. I looked at everyone sitting in their bench and i couldn’t help but start to cry as i made my way down to the love of my life. When i finally reached the end, my father lifted my veil, gave me a peck on the cheek and returned the veil to the way it was.

“Who gives this woman to this man?” the priest started.
“Her mother and I,” my father said before he joined my mum back in the bench. The ceremony continued on with the exchange of vows and rings. Before Hyun Joong and I knew it, the priest had said what we were both waiting to hear,
“I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride.” Hyun Joong didn’t have to hesitate how he was going to do it with so many people watching us. He took his hands to lift the veil behind my head and then cupped my face in his hands and kissed me like he had never kissed me before. We then pulled away and walked down the aisle for the first time as Mr. and Mrs. Kim.
Once we got outside we found ourselves lost in a cloud of rice and confetti. We quickly made our way to our awaiting limo and drove off to our reception.

“Hyun Joong, we did it,” I whispered, as we waited for our cue, behind the doors.
“I’m glad you didn’t have a change of heart at the last minute and run off on me,” he said teasingly but sounding serious.
“Well actually, I did….but everyone convinced me to go on ahead with it,” I said looking at him with a serious face. Hyun Joong was left shocked at what he heard and didn’t know what to say.

I saw the expression come across his face and spoke up, “I was only kidding. Sheesh, you look like you saw a ghost.”
“Don’t ever do that to me again,” he laughed with a huge sigh of relief.
“Okay, I won’t,” I replied nuzzling his nose again and giving him a kiss. We waited anxiously hand in hand for our entrance. I had now taken off my veil and train and was ready for a night of dancing.

“So, without any further adieu, I introduce to you for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Kim,” We heard a voice say as the doors opened. Just then me and Hyun Joong entered the ballroom waving to everyone and heading straight to the dance floor for our first dance.

When the song was over, We pulled apart from our warm embrace and kissed a warm kiss. Then we headed over to our cake, which was placed beautifully at the front of the room. We cut our cake and fed each other the way all newly weds do. After a couple minutes of having our pictures taken, I threw the bouquet and ‘Yoon Ah’ caught it, which was not at all surprising. Later that evening came dinner and more dancing.

During some of the songs I danced with my dad while Hyun Joong danced with his mom. After several dances, I went to get a drink of water.
“Excuse me Mrs. Kim, but may I have this dance?” a voice said as they cleared their throat and tapped me on my shoulder. I was surprised first and nearly choked on my drink but then turned around to find Kyu Jong standing in front of me in a tuxedo. He along with the other ‘SS members, they were the Groom’s Men and they were all wearing the same tux.

“Well I’ll be. If it isn’t Mr. Kim Kyu Jong asking me to dance instead of grabbing me so tight and doesn’t let me go',” I said causing Kyu Jong to blush.
“Nah, I can’t do that….too many witnesses tonight,” he quick-wittedly responded catching me off guard. “So what d’ya say?” he insisted.

“I’d love to,” I accepted putting my glass aside. We then headed off to the dance floor. Kyu Jong sure was getting his grove thing on in one of the fast songs and I couldn’t help but laugh. But then the song turned slow and he immediately took my waist and started swaying back and forth with me. I felt comfortable with him, knowing that he wasn’t as drunk as he was when we first met.

He was still Kyu Jong and he wasn’t taking it too far. However, he was a bit deutzy and you could say he had two left feet. This is because while we were swaying back and forth he managed to bump into Hyung Jun and Yoon Ah along with Mandy and Jung Min who were right beside us dancing away. While we were swaying, I caught Mandy’s eye and we smiled to one another. Mandy looked like she was ready to cry and she looked like she was going to say something too; however just as she was about to say something, I felt a tap on my shoulder and i quickly turned away.

“Can I cut in?” Young Saeng asked as Kyu Jong shot him a look that said ‘what do you want?’
“Can’t you see that we’re dancing?” Kyu Jong asked still holding onto me.
“Young Saeng, I’ll dance the next one with you…I promise,” I said giving him a warm smile. I knew that Kyu Jong wanted to dance with me and i wasn’t going to upset him or ruin my wedding just over a silly dance. Young Saeng seemed to be a good sport about it and left us.

I returned to having my arms wrapped around Kyu Jong’s neck and laid my chin on his shoulder. A few minutes later, the song was over and I insisted that i needed to sit down for a while. I left Kyu Jong on the dance floor and asked ‘Amy’ to join him. She got up out of her seat without hesitation and joined Kyu Jong. He seemed to be satisfied with her company so they continued to dance.

Just as I sat down to rest my feet for awhile, Hyun Joong came up from behind me and placed his arms around my shoulder, while kissing my cheek.
“You look like the center of attention with the lads,” he laughed causing me to give him a ‘yeah, right’ look. I then gestured him to have a seat next to me as we watched everyone having a blast on the dance floor.

“So, Mr. Kim, are you ready for Hawaii?” I asked looking at Hyun Joong’s watch. “Only 1 hour to go,” I said raising my eyebrows with excitement.
“Are you kidding me? I can just hear Hawaii calling my name!” he laughed causing me to laugh. Just then Mandy approached us with Jung Min holding her hand.
“Hey you guys. Congratulations,” she said as I stood up and greeted my best friend with a hug.

“I’m so happy for you,” Mandy said still hugging me and holding her tears back at the same time. Just as we pulled apart, Mandy held my hands and spoke, “You know that we’re best friends and we’ll always be best friends….even though Hyun Joong may be your new one, don’t forget your old one, k?”

“I could never forget you. And now I have two best friends. But there are some things I can only share with you that I can’t share with Hyun Joong…..I mean, who’s gonna go with me to a mall for shopping? Or who am I gonna talk to about the newest movies? You Mandy. So you’re not outta the picture girl...not yet anyway,” I laughed. Just then my eye caught something. Something sparkly and shiny.

“OH MY GOD!!” I exclaimed over the music nearly giving Hyun Joong and Jung Min a heart attack. But Mandy knew what her friend was talking about. A sly grin spread across her face as she saw the excitement in my eyes. “Is this what I think it is?” I asked. Mandy just nodded and beamed from ear to ear. “I’m so happy for you!” I hugged her and began to cry. Hyun Joong was still kind of confused and Jung Min was just amazed at how these two girls knew what each other was thinking or talking about with just a few words. “Hyun Joong, Mandy and Jung Min are engaged!” I explained to bring Hyun Joong into the loop.

“Ohh, now I get it,” he laughed. “Well you could’ve just said that in the first place!” He then got up and gave Jung Min a manly hug and Hugged Mandy.
“So who have you told so far?” I asked.
“Just you guys…. man are you observant or what, Na?” Mandy teased.
“Well congratulations,” Hyun Joong said.
“Thanks you guys. We appreciate it. Now if you’ll excuse us, we have some dancing to do,” Jung Min said leading his fiancée onto the dance floor.

“This has been one amazing night,” I said to Hyun Joong as i held his hand. “I mean, we get married, my best friend is engaged, and I’m here with you. What more could I ask for?”
“I don’t know about you, but I’m more than satisfied.” I agreed and kissed Hyun Joong on the cheek. We sat there in silence hand-in-hand watching all of our guests having a blast. Just then Hyung Jun came up to us and called us out into the foyer. When we got there, the doors opened and in front of us was the group they called their friends.

“Hey you guys, we know that you have to catch your plane soon, but before you go, we just wanted to tell you guys how much we love you and how happy we are to see you guys finally tie the knot,” Hyung Jun started raising a glass.
“Yeah, and I just want to add to that by saying I hope your days are filled with love and joy all the rest of your lives,” Mandy added raising her glass.
“A toast to Hyun Joong and Nadia. May your married life be long and love filled. And may your candle of love never burn out before it’s time,” Young Saeng said raising his glass.

“To Hyun Joong and Nadia,” everyone said and drank their wine.
“Thank you everybody. This has been the best night of my life and I will never forget it as long as I may live,” I said placing my hand around Hyun Joong’s back and holding my glass in the other hand.
“Yes, thank you. None of this would have been possible without you guys. You’ve helped us and supported us in more ways than you may think. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you,” Hyun Joong added. “But now, we must go….as much as I would love to hang out with you guys…I have a plane waiting for me and my wife. So once again, thanks for coming and please drive safely,” Hyun Joong continued.
“Bye you guys,” I said hugging each and everyone before making my exit to the car which was to take me and my husband to the airport.
“Bye,” everyone waved as the car drove off into the distance.

“Hyun Joong, we’re finally on our way,” I said as i cuddled up close to Hyun Joong in the plane seat. “We made it through it all, and now the fun begins,” I said osculating his ear very gently.
“I know. I can’t believe it’s actually happening,” he said looking at the wedding ring on his finger and smiling. “I love you,” he said to me for the millionth time that night.
“I love you too,” I said closing my eyes and hearing his heart beating in his chest.
“So what are we going to do first in Hawaii?” He asked trying to make conversation with his wife. That’s right, his wife.
“Well I don’t know about you, but a Jacuzzi sounds good to me,” I replied looking at Hyun Joong in his eyes with a smile. “My bones and mind need some relaxing. I don’t even want to think about yesterday and how my name was being called every six seconds,” I shuddered at the thought.

Hyun Joong only laughed because he knew that I was trying to make my wedding perfect to the very last bit of detail, and having people calling me constantly was getting on my nerves.
“Well what are you going to do when we have kids?” he asked raising an eyebrow. “You won’t be hearing ‘Na, Na,’ but you’ll be hearing ‘Mommy, mommy!’” he pointed out to me.
“That’s why they have something called boarding schools,” I joked. “Those rug rats can give the teachers headaches for all I care,” I teased. Hyun Joong knew that i was joking and that i loved kids. Even if they kept calling me repeatedly. I just loved being around them, but at the moment with all of the wedding stuff on my mind, i just wasn’t in the mood to think about kids.

“Ohh…is that how it’s gonna be?” he said playing along with me. “Well can’t we just keep one?” he said sounding like he was talking about a pet. I shot him a look that said ‘okay shut up now,’ and he understood it right away. We both looked at each other and then laughed. Just then the seatbelt sign came on so, We obeyed the sign. A few moments later, the pilot’s voice was heard through the speakers.

“Hello, and welcome aboard, This is your captain speaking and we will arrive in Hawaii in approximately 9 hours. We are flying 3000 meters above ground and should have smoothed flying all the way through. The seatbelt sign is on, so we advise you to keep your belt on until the signs are turned off. Have a safe trip ,thank you.”

“I’m glad it’ll take 9 hours- it’ll give me time to catch up on my sleeping,” Hyun Joong said placing a pillow behind his head.
“Me too. I couldn’t sleep at all last night; I was too nervous,” I confessed with a yawn.
“Well I suggest we sleep now so that we can visit that Jacuzzi you were talking about,” he said with a wink.
“All right,” I agreed, pulling a blanket over my body. “Goodnight sweetheart,” I said leaning forward and giving Hyun Joong a quick kiss.
“Goodnight hun,” he said returning the kiss and closing his eyes to the pleasant thoughts of Hawaii.
