29 A Lover's Concerto

Shin Hye switched off her laptop and put her books into her bag and left the library. Her eyes darted left and right looking around her before she walked to where his car was parked.

“Hi” he said the moment she entered the car and saw her buckled up before driving off.

“Have you eaten?” he asked her.

“Ani. I forgot. I was so busy with my report. I still have a lot to do. I need to finish this before I can tackle my other assignments,” she said tiredly.

“Let’s go eat. I have not eaten either?”

“Okay but where?” Both of them were silently thinking of where they could go to eat privately.

“Let me ask manager Jun,” Shin Hye remembered her manager once telling her to call him if she and Min Ho needed a private place to go when she complained to him about how they were not able to eat out freely. After the call, Shin Hye gave Min Ho the address of the restaurant with instruction from Manager Jun to park at the private basement parking. They reached the restaurant and were met by Manager Jun’s friend who took them to the private elevator to go up to a private room in the restaurant.

“How was your day?” asked Shin Hye finally noticing how tired Min Ho looked.

“The same,” he said wearily looking at her. He had been working non-stop this week and last week.

“Gomawo for the lunch. It gave me energy to get through the day,” he winked at her and she giggled.

“If he was not already your No1 fan, after eating that packed lunch, hyung is now your No.1 fan. He has given up on being a Pink Panda and declared that he is a Starlight Angel now,” Min Ho chuckled remembering his manager’s reaction earlier.

“Chincha? Manager Kang is so cute,” laughed Shin Hye.

“You must have woken up early to make the lunch. I know you were busy the whole night studying for your test.”

“It’s nothing. I was too nervous about the exam so cooking calmed my nerves. And thinking about it now, the test was okay” she smiled.

“Great. I know you will do well,” he smiled.

After dinner they stayed a bit longer just to talk and when they left, Min Ho drove and parked his car and they both went out for a walk at Seoul’s Cheonggyecheon Stream. Like other lovebirds there, they both walked slowly hand in hand near the lit up banks. The lights, which were strategically placed near the banks, gave the stream a romantic feel. The sound of the stream flowing was intercepted with the occasional laughter from the two lovebirds. People watching them could see how much in love they were and noticed the tall man running playfully and being chased by the beautiful woman with long straight hair who was wearing a cap similar to one the man was wearing. She hit him hard the moment she caught up to him. The tall man then hugged her hard while she laughed asking him to let her go.

“Yah let me go,” Shin Hye begged between laughter.

“Ani…..say you’re sorry first” he .

“I am……” She smiled mischievously, tiptoed and kissed him lightly on the lips. Surprised by the sudden kiss, he loosened his grip and tried to deepen the kiss. Shin Hye then elbowed him in the stomach and broke free and ran to the front before she turned back and stuck out her tongue at him. Min Ho stood there touching his stomach and stared at her. She put her arms in her hips and stared back at him cutely. Then she waved at him to come and he stood still gazing at her and laughed when she pouted sadly. He walked to her and put his arm around her.

“Let’s walk until we reach the front,” said Min Ho.

They walked hand in hand along the bank while talking about anything and everything. They passed a lot of couples walking along the bank of the stream but no one paid them much attention. Shin Hye marvelled at the beauty of the stream amplified by the blue lighting. Everything looked so serene. She noticed couples sitting near the bank dipping their feet in the stream.

“Oppa let’s do that,” she pulled Min Ho to sit near the stream and pointed to the many couples who were sitting there with their feet in the stream. She smiled brightly and nodded at him. He looked worriedly because although the weather is getting warmer now but at night the water would still be very cold.
