(DH) - Daehyun speaking
(JU) - Jongup speaking

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stepping out of the hospital building, the three of them bundled themselves up a bit more as the chilly wind decided to meet them. They had come here to start up the process for surrogacy and it seemed like they would have to wait for some time before the results came back on whether they were healthy enough for it or not. Well, not specifically them. It was more on whether their little swimmers were healthy enough for the surrogacy.

As they finally made it down to the sidewalk, Daehyun looked at Young Jae with slight worry as they began walking towards their intended destination. It had been about two to three days since Young Jae’s incident and although there haven’t been any other signs, Daehyun couldn’t help but continue to worry for him. Daehyun would have said something about it while they were at the hospital, but Young Jae simply wouldn’t allow it.

“Are you sure.. you want this, Young Jae?” (DH) Young Jae let out a sigh as he briefly glanced at Daehyun. Why did he have to keep asking him? It was getting rather frustrating hearing Daehyun always fussing over him like this. It might, MIGHT, have been nice the first four or five times, but after being asked every single day at every hour, it was just annoying at this point.

“Daehyun.. don’t make me change my mind. I already accepted the possibility of having two babies just to fulfill both our wishes. We have already paid for the tests as well and that money is something we can't receive back. Can you please stop asking already? It is becoming highly irritating having you constantly ask me the same questions time and time again.” (YJ) Daehyun looked up at the sky for a moment before letting out a heavy sigh.

“Alright... I’ll stop asking.” (DH) Well, as long as Young Jae was sure about this, then it would probably be best to just trust Young Jae's decision. Maybe it really was just something stress related. They were working a lot more often after all, so it wasn’t a surprise that Young Jae was in this type of state. Plus, Young Jae wasn’t in constant contact with the time reversal device, so that shouldn’t really be one of the reasons behind Young Jae’s state.. right?

“Um.. What’s a... surrogacy?” (JU) Young Jae let out a small sigh as he briefly glanced over at his confused son. He had hoped they would walk the rest of the way in peace or at least with a nice conversation, but it doesn’t seem like that would be the case. Well, if it’ll increase the amount of information Jongup will have, then it would be worth it. After all, if Jongup wanted children, there’s a possibility that he’ll consider surrogacy as an option for him and Zelo as well. Of course, that’ll be MANY years later after they both have graduated from university and received a fairly stable career.

“Surrogacy is when a donor from a female and a male use their samples to create an embryo. However, partial surrogacy, which is what we have opted for, is when the from the intended father, which would be both of us, is used to inseminate a woman whom has donated their egg. Of course, before doing so, they use the process of intrauterine insemination, which is typically where they would separate the more lively with the slow, or even non-moving before being inserted into the woman’s womb. From there, it’s all a matter of chance and various other factors on whether the woman becomes pregnant or not. Is that a suffice answer for you?” (YJ)

“Uh... yea!” (JU) Young Jae sighed, but decided against making certain that Jongup truly understood his explanation. As long as Jongup at least had a brief understanding of what a surrogacy was, then there shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

Though, that was the last thing on Jongup’s mind. All he could constantly think about is the possibility of having a little brother or sister. That would be really cool, right? He wouldn’t be an only child anymore! Though.. would that mean his parents would pay more attention to the baby and not him?

Nah.. that couldn’t be... could it?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Let’s eat here.” (DH) Young Jae instantly furrowed his eyebrows and glared angrily at the back of Daehyun’s head. However, it didn’t seem like his glare was strong enough as Daehyun went into the fast food restaurant, thinking mostly about his poor tummy as opposed to what everyone else felt like eating at the moment. It was unfair, but this fast food restaurant was currently the closest to their location.

With Jongup following behind like a stray puppy, Young Jae could do nothing but sigh and follow after them. Once Jongup and Young Jae were next to Daehyun, Daehyun grinned as he looked over at Young Jae. “It’s a good place to eat, right? We can save money this way.” (DH)

“How exactly do you plan to save money eating here?” (YJ) Young Jae turned to look at Daehyun, whom seemed to have a slight frown on his face. Whether Daehyun liked it or not, it should have been relatively clear that Young Jae did not like eating out at fast food restaurants. “This is fairly counterproductive and you know it. Eating out when we can just create our own food is money wasted on things that could be used on actual necessities.” (YJ)

“Yea... You’re right. So then.. what do you want to do now? Do you just wanna head home?” (DH) Young Jae let out a small sigh as he tried to think on what the best course of action was. If they left now, Jongup might be a little sad about not being able to eat at this very moment. Sure, he won’t actually show his dissatisfaction with the decision made, but it would still be hinted in parts of his actions. Plus, they were already here. It would be rather inconvenient for them to have wasted their time coming into the restaurant.

Looking up at the menu, Young Jae furrowed his eyebrows as he folded his arms. That one item on the menu always seemed to taunt him as well. Though.. it’s not like his decision was being influenced by the chicken nuggets that were currently calling his name or anything. Nope. That was just not a thing that could ever happen. Not now and not any where in the future. “Fine.. We’ll eat here for now, BUT.. this is the last time, you hear me? Go order our food and I’ll go pick a table..” (YJ)

Young Jae had turned to go find a table, but he paused for a moment. Placing a hand on Jongup’s shoulder, Young Jae motioned his head towards the stairs. “Jongup.. can you go get a table upstairs? I need just a single moment with your father.” (YJ)

“Uh.. okay!” (JU) Jongup gave his usual happy grin before he turned and made his way towards the stairs. Once Jongup had started heading up the steps, Young Jae turned to Daehyun before grabbing his shirt. Daehyun looked down at Young Jae’s hands before looking up at Young Jae, a confused look on his face.

“What is it?” (DH) Young Jae let out a small sigh as his grip loosened up a bit.

“Have you... and this is completely and ENTIRELY hypothetical, but.. have you ever had a feeling that you.. can’t remember something important? Something that.. you wanted to change?” (YJ) Daehyun reached up as he scratched the back of his head. There have been plenty of times when he’s forgotten something, but nothing too important to where it would negatively impact him. Though, before he could respond, Young Jae slightly pushed Daehyun away as he turned away and folded his arms. “Never mind.. Forget I asked. It’s not important anyway, so just go get our food now.” (YJ)

Daehyun scratched the back of his head as Young Jae began walking away. He didn’t necessarily understand why Young Jae had asked that question, but if it wasn’t important, than he wasn’t going to pry. With a small sigh, Daehyun turned to look at the front counter before lining up.

Young Jae sighed as he sat down in the seat adjacent to Jongup. He shouldn’t be asking Daehyun any sort of questions. By doing so, it would only end up causing Daehyun to become suspicious and constantly asking him questions once more. That was just something that he didn’t need, especially since his mind was already wrapped up on a variety of things that was floating around.

Still.. what had that been about? Although he had only gotten a headache and nearly passed out, he just had this feeling that he’s forgotten something. That warehouse.. he was certain that he hadn’t seen it before, so why had that image suddenly flashed in his head? Was it just a random occurrence from a dream or did it have something to do with the time reversal device? The last option seemed like the best out of the two choices, but he had to make certain of it.

“..-oday, a violent shooting has broken out, revealing the ongoing struggle between the two gangs. There have been reports telling us that civilians, police officers, and gang members have been injured. As of this moment, there is no real..” Young Jae looked up at the television screen that was currently displaying the news for today. It wasn’t a good thing for these so called gangs to be roaming around and just randomly shooting everyone, but it’s not like he had a solution to everything. If anything, he would smack them upside their heads and tell them what wrong they were doing.

Before he could go on a complete mental rant about what was going on, Daehyun showed up as he set the bags of food down. Looking up at Daehyun, whom was slowly seating himself, he could tell that Daehyun was interested with the news at the moment. It was understandable, considering Daehyun had been a police officer at one point. Still, Young Jae was, he’ll admit, glad that Daehyun was no longer a police officer.

“Wow.. things are looking pretty bad. Reminds me of one of my assignments before I used the time reversal device. Yongguk got hurt that day, but.. it was just on the arm. Young Jae.. you and Jongup came, but.. I’m glad you two didn’t get hurt.” (DH) Jongup remembered both of his parents mentioning the time reversal device and what had happened, though most of the memories that were being explained had come from his father. Young Jae barely remembered that, but the second he tried to remember a little more, a headache hit him once again.

By the time his head had stopped hurting, he could hear a voice calling out to him as a warm hand continued to shake his shoulder. Young Jae let out an annoyed whine as he pushed himself up a bit. Looking around, the first thing he saw was a worried Jongup before his eyes trailed over to his right, to see a worried Daehyun. “Are you okay? I really think we should see a doctor if you keep going on like this..” (DH)

“What..? No.. I’m fine. I already told yo-” (YJ)

“Young Jae.. This is the second time something’s happened to you. We should get it checked out and make sure. This isn’t normal, Young Jae..” (DH) Young Jae let out a small sigh as he reached for one of the bags and began searching for the chicken nuggets. He refused to go to the hospital and that’s that. There was no way that they were going to make him go to a hospital to get checked out.

Realizing that Young Jae was no longer going to talk about what had just happened, Daehyun sighed as he reached for his own food. He wasn’t going to stop here. He knew that this could potentially be a life threatening illness or something along those lines, so he had to make sure that Young Jae was definitely safe. If Young Jae really wasn’t going to go to the hospital willingly, then Daehyun would have to bring him there himself.

But... he would have to wait and let Young Jae calm down first. If he did it later today or tomorrow, Daehyun knew that Young Jae was only going to end up getting angrier than usual. He definitely didn’t want to end up causing an argument to ensue.

Luckily, since Daehyun had decided against consistently bothering Young Jae about the headaches and passing out, it allowed Young Jae the opportunity to think about what was happening. These images or possibly even flashbacks... why were they just now coming to him? Clearly, it had something to do with Daehyun when he had been a police officer. But now.. there was even more to it.

He saw, or possibly even remembered, being at a place with a male he’s never seen before. Young Jae could remember the conversation he had through this male’s ear piece, the conversation he had with Daehyun. He heard Daehyun tell him that.. he had made a choice, a decision, to ride the bus that day.

It cut from there, showing him at a restaurant with Daehyun. The restaurant was Sushi Seki, but there was something that confused him here. There were two different scenarios where he was sitting with Daehyun and having a romantic dinner while with the other scene, he was sitting alone with Zelo. What was this about? Why were there two different scenarios?

None of this made any sense.. and it was bothering Young Jae.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Don’t let go..” (YJ) Daehyun chuckled a bit as he gave Young Jae’s hand a light squeeze. He didn’t necessarily understand why Young Jae had practically demanded for him to hold his hand, but he wasn’t complaining. After all, he liked holding Young Jae’s hand and it seemed to give him some sort of comfort. Well.. that’s what Daehyun thought anyway.

Since they were done with their food, they were now heading back to the car. With their errands done for the day, it seemed like it would be best just to head home now. Daehyun was worried about Young Jae’s health, so he definitely felt like it was the best idea. “Do you like holding my hand like this?” (DH)

“Don’t get used to it! I just.. felt like you need reassurance since you seem to always feel like making a big deal out of something.” (YJ) Daehyun sighed, but he couldn’t help but smile regardless of what was being said. Whether Young Jae acknowledged it or not, at least Daehyun liked holding Young Jae’s hand like this. Plus, it warmed his hand up a bit at the very least.

“Ah.. I guess you’re right. You need the reassurance.” (DH)

“Exac- Wait. I never said that I needed the reassurance! When did I ever say that? I don’t recall saying that..” (YJ) Young Jae furrowed his eyebrows as he shoved both of their hands into Daehyun’s pocket. “Just for that.. I’m occupying this space in your pocket. Don’t expect me to vacate anytime soon..” (YJ)

Daehyun chuckled as he used the tip of his thumb to caress the back of Young Jae’s hand as best as possible. Young Jae merely shook his head, using his free hand to pinch the bridge of his nose. “I swear.. I’m never going to understand what is going on inside of that head of yours. Do you ever actually think logically, or do you just like to twist things the way you prefer them to be?” (YJ)

“Mm.. Only if it helps you.” (DH) Young Jae nudged Daehyun with his elbow before looking off to the side. Helped him? How was reassuring him going to help him? Daehyun was the one who needed the reassurance anyway, not him! What kind of nonsense was Daehyun talking about?! Sure, Daehyun’s hand was giving his hand the warmth required to keep it from freezing to death. There was also the fact that Daehyun’s hand was firm enough to give him some sense of comf-

Nope. No way. What was he thinking?! There was no way that Daehyun could give him ANY of that! Warmth? Comfort? Security? Reassurance?! These were all just delusions top make him THINK that this was all a possibility! If anything, HE was the one giving all of those things to Daehyun. After all, Daehyun was the one who wanted to hold his hand in the first place!

“Can we go inside?” (JU) The sound of Jongup’s voice broke his thoughts as he finally paid attention to his surroundings. Realizing that they had come to a stop, Young Jae looked around before noticing the building that they were now standing in front of. “I think there’s a game that came out today!” (JU)

“Yea.. I think I heard about it. Wanna go get it now?” (DH)

“No. There is no getting such things! Those are all luxuries that are not essential to living and it would be best NOT to get something that JUST came out simply because the price for it will eventually lower as time progresses. It is better to save money and not get it at all.” (YJ) Daehyun looked at Young Jae, whom was quite set on his decision. Although he did want to go in and get a few games, Daehyun did have to agree with Young Jae. If that game that they were thinking of really did just come out today, it would be better to wait until the price goes down.

“Yeah.. you’re right. I guess we can go later then. Is that okay with you, Jongup?” (DH) The two turned to look at Jongup, whom was currently looking through the window of Game Stop. He really wanted to go inside and buy at least one game, but he also didn’t really want to disobey his parents. With a solemn sigh, Jongup nodded before looking at his parents.

As Young Jae and Daehyun began walking once more, Jongup gave the store one last glance before following after his parents. Well, maybe they’ll be able to buy a game really soon. That would at least give him something to look forward to.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once they were back at home, Jongup was laying on the floor on his tummy, happily drawing as the cartoons played. Daehyun and Young Jae were currently both sitting on the couch. Young Jae had his head resting on Daehyun’s shoulder as Daehyun had his arm around Young Jae’s shoulders. Daehyun softly hummed along with the music that was currently playing for the opening.

“Hey.. how’s work coming along?” (YJ) Daehyun’s humming continued, but he was mentally thinking about work now. How exactly was it coming along? Well, it wasn’t going poorly if that’s what Young Jae meant.

“It’s going along fine. It’s gotten a lot easier, but.. with the case I’m currently working on, it’s a bit difficult. There were traces of poison at the crime scene, but it seems like the poison wasn’t the cause of death.” (DH) Young Jae lifted his head a bit, his curiosity just slightly poked at as he looked at Daehyun.

“What was the cause of death then?” (YJ)

“I’m not sure. I won’t receive the reports on the autopsy until Monday.” (DH) Young Jae rested his head back onto Daehyun’s shoulders as he furrowed his eyebrows a bit and pouted. He disliked not having the information of something that had grabbed his attention, but it couldn’t be helped. He would just have to ask Daehyun about it later. “What about you? How’s work coming along?” (DH)

Young Jae let out a small sigh as he shifted a bit in his seat. There was quite a bit happening at work, so where should he start with his explanations? “Well.. work is going along rather well, oddly enough. After the information you had provided for us last year, we were able to solve the mystery behind the sudden pains of being in contact with the time reversal device for too long.” (YJ)

Sitting up, Young Jae leaned back in his seat as he adjusted Daehyun’s arm a bit. “It turns out that the time reversal device, when used, is actually inserting data into the user. Basically, this data is the user’s memories and that is why we are capable of remembering what had happened before using the device. However, the memories are somewhat overwhelming for the user since it’s injected all at once. The pain from wearing the device for long periods of time is because the device is constantly checking, double checking, even triple checking to make sure that the memories have been inserted correctly. Taking the device off resets it, practically creating a fresh slate for different memories to be inserted.” (YJ)

Young Jae let out a small sigh as his thoughts went back to his flashbacks. “Although... since I have been using the device lately, I have been having these... strange flashbacks. Various events or rather, things, have been unlocking these memories that seemed to have been locked away within me which may explain my sudden headaches and blacking outs..” (YJ)

“Then.. you’ve been having flashbacks this entire time? What are they about?” (DH) Young Jae thought on it for a moment before mentally cursing. He probably shouldn’t have said anything because he was rather certain that Daehyun was going to end up worrying all over again. Daehyun was most likely going to try and stop him from using the time reversal device, but that wasn’t an option. Young Jae needed to continually use the device to test and make certain that it works correctly.

“It’s.. nothing. Don’t worry about it anymore.” (YJ)

“But-” (DH)

“Stop. It’s not a big deal, alright? When I have gathered enough information, THEN I’ll tell you. Until then, forget I said anything.” (YJ) Daehyun sighed as he leaned back in his seat. He really disliked it whenever Young Jae dismissed something as important as this, but there wasn’t anything he could do. No matter what occurred, Young Jae always seemed to close himself off.

“Okay.. I’ll drop it for now. But.. promise me you’ll tell me when you learn more about it.” (DH) Young Jae looked at Daehyun, whom wore that worried look yet again. Why did Daehyun have to worry so much? Young Jae was the scientist, not Daehyun. If anything, Young Jae should be the one to worry about Daehyun. Crime scene investigator or not, Daehyun could still end up getting into some sort of danger. Of course.. why should he worry about Daehyun anyway? Young Jae had enough on his own mind to worry about!

“I’m entitled to my own secrets. I don’t have to tell you anything, but.. if it’ll keep you from worrying so much, then fine. I’ll tell you when I obtain more information. Now.. can you drop the subject? It’s tiring having to talk about this time and time again.” (YJ) Daehyun nodded as he gave a small smile. Leaning forward, he softly gave Young Jae a peck on the lips before turning his attention back to the television show that was currently playing.

Young Jae stared at Daehyun for a moment or so before shaking his head and looking back at the television screen. Was that all he was going to get? A simple peck on the lips? Daehyun was lucky that Young Jae was currently too mentally exhausted to do anything about it or else he would have demanded more or even taken it himself.

Though for now.. he let his mind continue to think about what had just been said as well as the flashbacks that he's been having. Why did it feel familiar? Even if he didn't get his anwers right away, he couldn’t help but look at Jongup, then back at Daehyun. There was this sort of.. worry or even sad feeling that he had that was building up inside of him.

Something bad had happened to them and.. he wanted to know what it was.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Was he in the mood at this moment? Part of him was, but the rest of him wasn’t really in the mood tonight. Young Jae gave a small sigh as he laid on his back, his eyes staring up at the ceiling in an attempt to pull himself away from all of this confusion. It was bothering him that he couldn’t figure anything out with the small bits and pieces of information he already had. Maybe if he had a few more flashbacks, then he’ll be able to figure out where these memories were coming from.

“Hey.. Something wrong?” (DH) Young Jae turned to look at Daehyun before his eyes widened. There he was, mister god, crawling to him in nothing but a pair of black silk boxers. When had he gotten that pair of boxers anyway? The lighting, which only came from the bedside lamps, hit Daehyun at the right spots, just seemingly able to accentuate Daehyun’s nicely chiseled body and y face. If he wasn’t mentally tired, he probably would have demanded from Daehyun in an instant. Of course, just taking it was an option too.

“Something must be wrong if I’m not enough to initiate .” (YJ) Young Jae let out a small sigh as Daehyun laid down next to him. Even the soft touch of Daehyun’s arm wasn’t enough to provoke such a feeling. Was all of this thinking really getting to him? It was unheard of and completely annoying, but he would just have to deal with it for the time being.

“Hey.. Come here.” (DH) Young Jae looked over at Daehyun with a slight brow raised before moving closer to Daehyun. More out of habit than anything, Young Jae rested his head on Daehyun’s chest as Daehyun wrapped his arm around him. Daehyun let out a small sigh as he rubbed Young Jae’s arm and shoulder a bit. “You’re probably just tired.. Just get some sleep, alright?” (DH)

“You’re.. most likely correct. Alright.. I’ll sleep for now.” (YJ) Young Jae closed his eyes as a small smile came onto his face. As much as he didn’t want to admit it, being in this position actually brought him some comfort or even relief. In a way, it seemed to take his problems and throw it off to the side for the time being. Although it was physically impossible to do such a thing, at least being in Daehyun’s embrace helped him calm down a bit.

“Feeling better?” (DH)

“Ye- No.. I’m not. What makes you think I would feel better laying here like this?” (YJ)

“Because you’re not stiff anymore.” (DH) Young Jae mumbled to himself as he lightly pinched Daehyun’s skin. Daehyun flinched a bit, but he only smiled as he reached up with his free hand and lightly ran his fingers through Young Jae’s hair.

“You’re lucky you’re my husband..” (YJ)

“Yeah.. I am lucky.” (DH) Young Jae rolled his eyes despite the fact that his eyes were currently closed. Well, if Daehyun was willing to admit it, then that was completely fine with him. “Good night, Young Jae.” (DH)

“.. Good night.. Daehyun.” (YJ) Both males let out a small sigh before sleep began to try and sing its lullaby for them. Every night always seemed to bring him some sort of comfort, which was why Young Jae always looked forward to nighttime. But... this comfort had not started until he had started living with Daehyun, so.. maybe it really was Daehyun whom was good for him.

This time, he’ll admit it. He’ll admit that he’s the lucky one to have Daehyun.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[[ My Own Thoughts:

A bit more progress with these flashbacks..
So now you’re getting a bit more information as to what is happening. x3
Of course.. there’s more to come.
And who knows how Young Jae will be able to handle it. *-*

As for Jongup..
He’s starting to be a bit grumpy about these new children.
After all, he’s only had a year and a half of his parents love/attention.
And the fact that he’s going to have to share that love/attention in a year’s time..
He mayyyy grow to resent them.
Who knows *-*?

Comments are loved. x3

Chapter 35: I love this story so much! I waited with Reading cause I was reading another fanfic, but I shouldn't have waited... It's too good!!! I love the way you write, you put details in the story, but not too many, and because of that it's easy to read even when there are difficult words. Also, are you able to write everything in such a way that the reader can interpret fairly well whose thoughts it are. For example Youngjaes, where you use difficult words and show stubborness very well, and with Daehyun you get an easygoing mindset. It's totally awesome!! Love it!!!
