The Task of Being a Heart Master

Saturday, Kyungsoo is home alone which is good, he thought. He’s thinking that he should’ve not gone to school early yesterday and he should’ve not met Minho. Now, he’s in trouble. No, big trouble. No, he’s weeping for the greatest regret in his life though he should not have any regret. Things in the past seemed to be repeating now. What he told Minho is true but it did not happen only once, not twice but thrice and it’s happening again, it’s going to be the fourth time. He’s thinking if he’s been cursed.  But he doesn’t believe curses though.

Now, he’s thinking to do. Though one can say he really is a master for the task since he experienced being in love for four times but sadly, left by all of them. Still, talking to the positive side, he’s still breathing. He was able to survive those heart aches. He’s thinking that the true happiness of man is making others happy but why perhaps does he think it’s the opposite? Maybe, he just needs to wait.

“Oh! C’mon, life is really complicated huh!” he said alone in his room.

But in his mind, he realized that life is never complicated. It’s him who’s making it complicated perhaps, our lives depend on ourselves. It’s our choice to live it simpler or complicated. No one can control it. People around him might be lucky to have him as a company because he really has that psyche, if ever they realize it.

“Well, I just have to do the same thing,” he said alone in his room as though someone would think he’s frantic.  “But, if  that would ever happen…. No, Minho can’t die,” said Kyungsoo his palms on his face.

Saying that things happened three times, yes, the three girls left as the three of his friends died. If he’ll tell the story, surely, nobody would believe him. He just hopes nothing would happen like that again.

Suddenly, Minho called him.

Telephone Conversation

Minho: Kyungsoo senpai, can we meet today?

Kyungsoo: Why?

Minho: Just tell me yes or no.

Kyungsoo: eh… Ye-

Minho: Four o’clock at the square. Bye.

And he dropped the phone, the ever tenacious Minho.

They both arrived at the square at the same time. As they saw each other, awkwardness can’t wait.

“Uhm…” heaved Minho.

“Oh yeah, why are we here?” asked Kyungsoo but Minho just fazed at him.

“Ah, about my heart master task huh! You really took it seriously, that’s very good then. That’s the thing an apprentice should do,” he said although he’s heart says the opposite. There’s no choice. No, there’s no other choice. Choice, choice and choice. There’s always a choice that’s why they say, life is a matter of choice. To say that there is a no other choice could be much possible.

Kyungsoo chose to help Minho and letting himself suffer as though every time he speaks to Minho, a knife would stab his heart. How he wishes to have a syringe with a concoction making him numb will be injected on his heart rather. But, it should be better this way.

“So, let’s start then. Imagine I’m Sulli,” said Kyungsoo but again, Minho stared at him blankly.

“There’s no way you can ever be Sulli,” Minho said bored.

“Look—“ but Minho cut in.

“Your hair is short. Your skin is not white as her and not pure as her. Your eyes are not the same as her and your teeth are greatly different from her. Your aura is also different and especially, you’re a boy and not even a gentleman,” said Minho.

“Wow! Could you slap my face and say those words again,” Kyungsoo said not expecting Minho to do what he said. He really slapped him and repeated everything but Kyungsoo stopped him at the middle by slapping his face too.

“Yah! I didn’t tell you to take it seriously!” he said and Minho replied, “You told me to take things seriously and that’s what an apprentice should do. Perhaps, you decided me to be your apprentice and I took it seriously and you even said an apprentice should follow what his master says,” Minho said.

Kyungsoo sighed. Well, this can’t be helped. “Okay, I’ll talk seriously now. Lately, I observed you talk much compared from the first time you were with us and that’s a good thing. On the other hand regarding the idea I told you, you’re right. There’s no way I can be Sulli but I told you, IMAGINE! It’s not like I told you to make a miracle and make me Sulli. I told you to imagine like Sulli’s in front of you. Okay?” he said but Minho just frowned.
