친구 (Friend)

Birds were chirping happily as I rubbed my eyes, waking up from my deep slumber. I looked at the clock, it showed 5 in the morning. I stood up, stretching my sore muscles as I opened my balcony's window. The morning wind was blowing gently, spreading its fresh smell. The humidity made me fresh even before I took a bath. I’m an early riser because I loved how the animal making happy sound, the cold of the wind, and the fresh air without pollution in the morning. Morning always my favorite. Careless about everything, a brand new day. I washed up quickly and went down to make breakfast. My family has maids but I told them that I always wanted to make a breakfast every morning and it was because school started at 7 and I didn’t have anything to do in the morning. I was walking downstairs when I saw maids were cleaning the house. I crept silently to startle them.

“Good morning ahjummas! unnie!” I beamed as I jumped the last stairs to the ground, making them startled and looked at me with a widened eyes.

“Omonaaa!” The oldest maid cupped her chest in state of shock.

“Good morning, Ji Hye.” The youngest of them all, beamed at me.

They called me Ji Hye when my family wasn’t around. It was so awkward when they called me ‘agasshi’. At first they were totally disagreed with my idea but as time passed, they started to call me just ‘Ji Hye’.

“I’m sorry Mrs. Ahn.” I grinned. “Good morning to you too, Cho Hee unnie!” I beamed as I ran to her and gave her a big hug.

Besides Sarang, Cho Hee unnie was the closest to me. She was like my older unnie that I never had but I still love my oppa no matter what.

“Good morning Mrs. Yoo, Mrs. Ha, Mrs. Noh.” I smiled at them as they smiled back at me.

“Good morning Ji Hye ah… want me to help you?” Mrs. Ha asked. I shook my head. “It’s okay Mrs. Ha, I know you would be busy with the broom, this house is quite big.” I chuckled. “I will take my leave now, have a great day everyone!”

I went to the kitchen and started to make omurice since my father loved to eat rice in the morning and for my mom, I made her a special juice. She always maintained her figure, If you're curious.

Talking about maids, my house wasn’t that big like those rich people’s buildings. It was quite big yet it was a simple house with a big yard and I loved my house so much compared to those mansions in the neighborhood.

It was the reason that my family only has four female maids, four males maids, and two chauffers. And all of them were like my 'parents' to me when my parents went overseas. They took care of me like their own daughter. I’m always alone at home because they were so busy. In the old days, my big brother always here for me but since he went to Japan to study business, ‘forced to study business’, so I’m all alone again.

I was happily making breakfast because finally my parents were home and going to stayed for 2 full weeks after gone for a month to I don’t even knew where. Pouted. After one hour, I’m done with my signature omurice. I went back to my bedroom and started to dress up with my uniform and took my backpack. I walked back to the dining room and found my parents already took a seat. I smiled widely as soon as I saw them enjoying my omurice and juice.

“Appaaaa… Eommaaa…” I ran towards them and gave my mom a neck hug and kissed her cheek and moved to my dad, giving the same treatment.

“Hye ah… Good morning my daughter. I missed you.” Dad said as he ruffled my hair. I pouted because he messed my neat hair.

“Morning my baby girl, how’s your sleep? And this omurice and juice are so amazing!” Mom beamed as she gave me her wide smile.

“I missed you both.” I pouted. “Glad you like it eomma appa.” I smiled sweetly.
