Tennis Courts
Biophilia"I think I'll be happiest to be rid of him," Kai commented off-handedly while they walked into the sparkly country-club.
"That makes two of us," Kyungsoo let his hand glide along the oddly soft walls, "but it is nice he invited us to a place like this ... this could be our last time experiencing such luxury."
Kai made a disgusted face when he looked around and Soo could only laugh as he wrapped his arms around his boyfriend neck. He gave him a soft kiss before retreating back to his former state of 'indifference' and tried to act like they hadn't just done that.
Maybe he should have expected as much, but he couldn't help but be awed by the grandiose place that was closing in on him. The walls where tall and white and the floor was a proud marble, gleaming back up at the duo who were making their way.
Loud televisions blared from each wall and there seemed to be some kind of smoothie bar and sports drink vender on each corner, silently waiting to snap up some prey.
The people were just as serene and beautiful, with immaculate outfits and pulsing muscles or high pony tails peaking out of matching visors and all with big, reflective sunglasses. Kyungsoo always imagined that the affluent hid their eyes like this because if they didn't, one would be able to see the lack of soul in their dead stare and right now he felt that to be truer than ever.
He could feel everyone's eyes -- when he'd dressed himself, he wasn't quite sure what people wore to Tennis anymore -- but he couldn't actually gage the reactions because of those damned lenses.
It felt so strange for him to be such a part of the upper-class because he felt no connection to these people and their attitudes. Due to his last name, he should technically be the elite-of-the-elite, but he'd never found the time or the care to try such a facade.
His sister and brother had no problem taking part in this, but he couldn't stomach the fakeness of it all. He was always a black sheep ... he just never realized how much he'd fulfill this role so early in life.
When faced with the option of snobs or , it made sense to the older why he'd always mingled and belonged to the crowd he'd go onto cultivate. He found infinitely more honesty in Baekhyun's ual exploits than he ever could in the tales of wealth of the people around him.
Soo looked over to catch a glimpse of Kai and he noticed just how upset the younger looked right now. Jongin had a much more radical view of the rich and the issues he had with their lifestyle, with their unapologetic, hypocritical hedonism that worked to hurt all those around him.
This was the perfect place to end things with Kris he decided ... it symbolized so much more than the break-up he'd yearned for. It was a breaking off from this life, a denunciation of his lineage so that he could be the person he wanted to be.
"Try not to look like you want to kill everyone," Kyungsoo muttered and reached for Kai's hand, "it gives us away as the odd one's out."
"I don't want to kill everyone ... I just want to burn this place to the ground," he joined his finger's with the older and gripped hard, "the ashes would serve the world better."
"I think rural life is going to agree with you Jongin," he swung their arms, "just you and I and probably a crap-ton of manual labor ... at least in that life, things would be simpler."
"There might be a lot of work ... there might not be ... I wouldn't make you do any of it in the first place though ... I'd pamper you no matter where we are."
"You? Pamper me?" Kyungsoo nuzzled his head into Kai's shoulder, "why do you always know the right things to say?"
"If I'm stealing an heiress off for the simple life, I could at least give you some illusion of privilege," Kai kissed his bangs and they slowed more than they already had.
Here it was ... the court that Kris had texted him to come to ... it felt so dramatic to be standing here right now as if this was doom.
The trapped feeling Kyungsoo experienced a few weeks ago during the riots returned, but he wrote it off. He wanted to go into this with a clear mind because he knew it wasn't going to be easy to dump Kris, especially not immediately after a date.
He pushed the door open and walked in with Kai following behind and he was shocked when he was greeted with fresh air and the minty, piney smell of a forest.
Everything looked so lush, green and vibrant, whether it be the floor or the grass close by or the trees, saying hello from only meters away.
Kris was the thing to break this vision of paradise, standing proudly on the opposite side of the net and destroying Soo’s mood. His look was biting and it only took a minute for Kyungsoo to recognize that he was glaring at Tao.
His chattel wasn't as stiff; he was standing with his head lowered and very loose clothing stretched across his body, which didn't quite make sense considering they were about to play tennis. Something had happened between those two, but he didn't want to interfere considering the blow he himself was about to deliver.
"Hello Kris-ssi," Kyungsoo put on his best, beaming smile and waved over at the giant across the court, "I'm sorry we're late, we got side-tracked by the fruit shakes."
Kai elbowed him in the side and he smiled down at the older when they're eyes made contact. He loved how they could practically communicate without saying a word; it was one of the many things he felt really worked about their relationship.
"It's fine Kyungsoo," Kris's scowl hadn't moved from Tao though, "we've already decided the teams ... Chattel vs. People ..
