They didn't talk on their way home, but Soo couldn't help but steal glances at Kai the whole time they drove. He tried to hide it, but he could tell he was failing and he felt even more embarrassed when he could see the other grin. So he'd definitely been caught.

He was so thankful to finally make it to his house with Kai and without any fuss, but the light blush on his cheeks was persistent.

With how flustered he was from the drive and even worse, how he couldn't stop admiring his Chattel's looks, he knew he needed a few minutes to cool off, otherwise he'd be moody.

They quickly ascended the staircase and then made their way through the long hall to Kyungsoo's safe little room in the back. As soon as he made his way in, he dramatically fell on his bed and relished in his nice fluffy comforter.

Then he remembered he had a guest in the room.

He shot up, his eyes wide from realizing that Kai had just seen him do something so embarrassing,  and he blushed when he saw the other snickering.

"The short one said you were different," these were the first words the youngest had ever said to Soo.

"Baekhyun told you about me?" Oh no, more to be worried about.

"He wasn't talking to me, but I heard it in passing when he was talking to Chanyeol."

"You're allowed to call him by his first name?"

"No, but I'm not worried that you're going to tell on me."

"Oh," he was right, Soo wasn't the tattle type, "I was just curious ... the others I've met were much more reserved than you are."

"Others?"

"Other Chattel."

He was quiet for a minute, "Am I your first?"

Soo tried to suppress a smile, "yes."

, he was so against this process and institution and yet he couldn't help but get excited at the prospect of having his first. Maybe he was just as bad as everyone else. Just breathe ...

"Good," there was something a little dark in the way Kai said it, but it was so attractive that the shorter one didn't think twice about it.

The younger slipped the back-pack off in the corner and came over to where the older was in the bed, taking a spot right next to him. If circumstances were even slightly different, he may have gotten really shy right now, but he found Kai's little deviances comforting.

One of his biggest worries was that in this process he'd get a submissive shell of a person that was half dead; it would break his heart so much to have to deal with this. He knew it was selfish, but Kai having so much personality was nice. He was suddenly thankful that Baekhyun chose the younger because he was so unique.

This was step one to make sure that he was different from everyone else; to him, Kai wasn't going to be just a cleaning service or something ... filthier. Kai was a full person in his eyes and he was going to do his best to treat him with as much dignity in private as possible.

That started with his amenities.

"We should get you some clothes ... those look baggy on you," he examined the other who was laying next to him. While Kai was as tall as his Hyung was, he was more slender and so the clothes hung off of him awkwardly. But he couldn't give Kai any of his own because they wouldn't be long enough to cover his legs or torso.

"I'm fine with these."

"Don't be silly, you'll certainly need more than that."

"It's more than I had before ..."

"This isn't like before though," Kyungsoo sat up, "you will have clothes ... nice clothes ... if only I knew where to keep you."

"I'm not a pet Kyungsoo-ssi,"

He flushed, "No, I meant I think I should get you a room."

"I'd rather not."

"Baekhyun's has a room."

"I hope you're not planning to be like that little one," Kai grimaced, "he's annoying."

"He's my best friend,"

"Oh, than you should understand how annoying he is."

Soo giggled, "Fine, I will confess that much ... but I don't want to make you uncomfortable ... and you don't have to call me by formals."

"I'd be more comfortable if I stayed with you ... you're nicer than anyone else so far."

"What about the formals thing though?"

"Are you sure you want me to call you Kyungsoo," Kai showed a new side to himself with this careful hesitation.

The smaller boy stuck out his hand, "Kyungsoo, my name is Do Kyungsoo, but my friends call me Soo."

Kai giggled and mumbled under his breath something about 'a boy named soo' while

Chapter 35: I love this story. I love the kaisoo part of it, but also the deeper ideas you bring into it. One thing that bothers me to no end is not knowing for sure what happened to tao, but i can guess and i think it might be better that way. Thank you for writing this!

This story was quiet intriguing and made me contain a variety of emotions. The concept of the story was appealing in many ways and piqued my interest instantly. I couldn't stop reading and stopping even if it was 3 am! Jongin's thoughts in the last chapters on humans were quite in depth and in fact impacted me, and showed me the raw, true disdain he felt for the humans. The characters you chose to portray were also amazing. Jongin was absolutely playful and charming I must say. A few things were not perfect, but nonetheless the story was a whole was fantastic. I felt like you focused a bit more on Jongin's and Kyungsoo's relationship, which was perfectly fine, but I feel like the readers weren't able to get to grasp the other side characters as well, thus when Chanyeol died I didn't feel the emotional attachment or remorse, and when they left Luhan and Sehun. The was also wonderfully phrased and flowed well. Their love, the way they express it, the jealousy, everything together was just breathtaking. Thank you author nim for this story~

Chapter 14: "Then hurt me damn it!" the tears were welling up, "Whip me, beat me, burn me, spit on me, anything you can because it pales in comparison to the pain I feel not having you."

UGH this line right here, made me so emotional. I adore the depth of his love, the intensity of his words, how desperately he wanted to convey his emotions and just how perfect these two are for one another. This line is everything.
