Dreamless sleep
Unrequited love? They could feel it, and Taecyeon could fairly see it. Heeyoung finally feels she found the place where she totally, and originally, belongs. Taecyeon just couldn’t quite place it, really that Jaebum, secretively searching for Heeyoung’s true identity behind everyone’s back and gave it to him just a moment before he could rest in peace.
The hole in Taecyeon’s heart where Jaebum lies before would never be replaced with anyone, though. He’s a friend, and a big brother which Taecyeon would always look up to. He’s different from Nichkhun and Junsu, whom practically also older than him. No, Jaebum would always knew what Taecyeon wants to hear and could tell what problems Taecyeon are in, even without Taecyeon mention them to him.
Jaebum often ruffled his hair for being a dork he is of course, thus he would just smile gratefully at him for accept him as who he is. He treasured everyone in his circle of friends, but Jaebum just different, he’s the one Taecyeon would give his utter respect for. And Taecyeon would never forget him, not in his life.
“Say, Taecyeon?” Heeyoung broke the silence in their way back home.
“What is it?”
“You know her, don’t you? At least you did.”
Taecyeon froze.
Ugh, just when he thought it was his lucky that Sungyoung didn’t say anything afterwards and that Heeyoung never mentioned a thing about it either when they were in Sungyoung’s home. He never even expected Heeyoung would ask about it now. Still, he has should known this better than anyone, with that curious head of hers.
“Her?” Taecyeon played dumb.
“Oh come on you couldn’t not know who’s I’m talking about right now, and don’t you play dumb with me, at least not until I send you as a gift to Minah and lock you two up in her room. See, I’m talking about Sungyoung.”
Taecyeon shivers at the thought being locked up, with Minah of all people, and help him Santa Claus, he’ll keep that in mind not to play dumb with her at time like this. “Well… you could saw it yourself.” He finally managed.
“How long did you know her?”
“For so long I could remember, I know her since then.”
“Your childhood friend?”
“Sort of.”
“Is it her?”
“Huh?”
“Is it her then, the ones you said your precious friend that look just like me and has the same habits as mine, is it her?”
“Heeyoungie, you wouldn’t seriously think that now would you?”
“Then how is that I wrong then? If it’s not like that, then how is it? If it’s not Sungyoung, then who is she?”
Taecyeon sighs, doesn’t she realize it already? Heeyoung shares the same childhood memory, though she lost it now. But that’s just explains that if Sungyoung is his childhood friend, then so is Sunghee. And doesn’t she realize who the very person Sunghee is? It’s herself! It couldn’t be more obvious than that.
Why would has Taecyeon left Sungyoung if he treasured her that much? Why chose to stand by Heeyoung’s side when he finally found her? Why he refused to go to see Sungyoung in the first place? With Heeyoung of all people to add, it’s all because he doesn’t want her to know Sungyoung knows him! Why bother missed that person when he even refused to met her? Because it wasn’t Sungyoung, and it never been her.
“Never mind,” Taecyeon said exasperated, giving her a pointed look. She’s so hopeless and oblivious, not that Taecyeon blame it all over her. He has the wrong for not explaining things that she got confused for.
“Yah, what was all that for?”
“You don’t realize it, so never mind. Just one thing; it’s not Sungyoung, it have never, and never would been her. That’s it.”
Heeyoung mumbled something about him being weird, and she’s clearly upset for whatever in the worlds’ sake. Taecyeon rolls his eyes and makes himself goes silent. How much more she could be so dense? He doesn’t know, but he’s not going to tell her everything now. He never wants Heeyoung to find out that he clearly knew her family anyway. So maybe it’s a good thing that Heeyoung is clueless about this.
The silence continues until they reach their respective home. The afternoon breeze is now starting to take influence to Heeyoung’s thin skin. And she’d more than love to just curl up on her bed and do nothing.
So much for her to handle all the information given to her today. The person with same exact face as her, Taecyeon’s so-called precious person, the two of them knew each other, and yet, nothing seems to be swallowed up by her brain completely. But still, to know she has a family remained is more than what she could ask for. She’s also couldn’t resist the fact that Jaebum had been searching for her family so eagerly, thus it makes her infinitely happy.
For the first time after Jaebum’s death, she sleeps a dreamless sleep, instead of nightmares that keep haunting her for the past months.
