Perfect - Nell

The word ‘love’ could only just begin to describe all the things Taeyeon felt for Jessica. It didn’t matter what Jessica was doing, or what she would do, Taeyeon would love her, and it seemed like she would love her forever.

As she sat alone at a table in the bar, in front of the stage, she watched Jessica sing her heart out and felt all the emotions her speech failed to show. Between songs, Jessica would look at her and smile shyly, and this made Taeyeon smile so brightly the spotlight could not compare to her.

Taeyeon had been coming to the bar ever since it opened, after an invitation from Yuri. At first she saw no point in coming to the bar, as she didn’t drink, but after that gorgeous girl on the stage began singing she was attracted to the bar like a moth to the light. The disappointment she felt when she came the next day, only to find out that the girl had left was almost crushing.
“Why’re you looking so down, Tae?” Yuri asked after Taeyeon sighed for the millionth time, “Stop sighing. There are too many depressed people in here.”
“I—who’s that girl that sings?”
“Who? Oh, you mean Jessica?”
“I don’t know, that’s why I asked,” Taeyeon rolled her eyes.
“Well yes the girl who sings is Jessica.”
“Where did you find her? She is amazing.”
“We we’re friends. And she is amazing. Her voice is just—”
“No I mean like she’s beautiful and just perfect,” Taeyeon sighed yet again.
“Is this a crush? Because you’re just wasting your time.”
“Hey! You never know. Just let me dream.”
“Well alright, but she is the least sociable person I’ve ever met in my life,” Yuri shrugged as she wiped down the bar counter.
“Why isn’t she here today?”
“Why, do you miss her?” Yuri smirked.
“When you have a crush I’ll do this to you.”

She did have to thank Yuri for telling her Jessica’s work timetable. But now that she knew that Yuri had a crush she would use that information to her advantage.

When Jessica stepped off the stage, she immediately headed for Taeyeon, sitting down in the chair next to her and wrapping her in a side hug. Taeyeon was surprised by this uncharacteristic affection, but she wasn’t going to complain.
Jessica groaned, “ugh I’m so tired.” Taeyeon looked down at her, and saw that her eyes were shut and she had a pout on her face.
“It seems that perfection is still perfection when it’s tired,” Taeyeon giggled.
“Y’all make me sick,” Sunny rolled her eyes as she plopped herself down in another chair.
“Jesus Christ, Sunny, why are you always there to ruin the moment?” Taeyeon sighed.
“Yuri was boring me, Sooyoung is totally knocked out, and you two are so wrapped up in your own worlds; why can’t I find someone?”
“Wait so you left Sooyoung, who is drunk as hell, on her own?!”
“No, I left her with Yuri.”
Taeyeon, who still had Jessica wrapped around her, looked towards the bar, and saw that Yuri seemed to be having an emotional breakdown, absentmindedly serving drinks to customers who paid no heed, while Sooyoung nodded drunkenly with her eyes half opened. Just as Taeyeon was about to chide Sunny, in regard to her lack of compassion, she felt a hand on her shoulder.
“Taeyeon?” she turned around.
“Oh hi Jiyoon!”
“What are you doing here?” Jiyoon asked in surprise.
“What are you talking about? I come here like every day.”
“Oh. Really? I never see you,” Jiyoon cocked her head.
“Maybe you just aren’t looking hard enough,” Taeyeon smiled politely.
Jiyoon laughed, and upon stopping, she saw the person wrapped around Taeyeon, “is that—is that Jessica?”
“…Yes. Why?” Taeyeon began to feel a bit cautious.
“Are you two dating or something?”
“Yes. Again, why?”
“Dude Jessica is literally the biggest in the universe, what are you thinking?” Jiyoon scoffed. Taeyeon could only look at her in bewilderment at her audacity to insult Jessica while she was right there, in front of her girlfriend, no less.
“Don’t look at me like that, she’s a ing and you know it,” Jiyoon sniggered again.
“Excuse me, do you even know Jessica?”
“Hell yeah I do, after all, three years of playing in a band really does tell you something about a person.”
“Have you even had a conversation with her?”
“What? No, not when she refuses to open to any one of us, like I said, , with a capital ‘B’.”
How dare she insult Jessica, the cutest person to ever enter Taeyeon’s life, the sweetest person, the one who was so endearingly clumsy and shy, the epitome of beauty and perfection?
“Excuse me, if you could just go away and stop insulting my friends, that’d be great,” Taeyeon had almost forgotten that Sunny was there.
“Who the are you?” Jiyoon spat.
“I am one person who has to right to say that you’re the here, goodbye!” Sunny stood up and edged closer to the retreating Jiyoon, “Jesus Christ, I’ve never met anyone so obnoxious in my life.”
“Jessica?” Taeyeon looked down at her, seeing as there had been no reaction from her in a while.
“Is she sleeping?” Sunny chuckled.
“It seems so. Oh well, at least she didn’t hear any of that.”
“Yeah.”

As Taeyeon sat in the near-empty bus, a sleeping Jessica Jung beside her, she couldn’t help but think how wrong Jiyoon was. It was true that Jessica was overly quiet and hard to approach, but she was definitely not a . Or was she just letting bias cloud her judgement? She turned to look at the face of the girl leaning on her shoulder and couldn’t help but smile. Jessica Jung wasn’t a , just a person who was scared of society. She sighed. Jessica was a problematic person. But then again, rose beds had to have thorns. She laced her fingers with Jessica’s cold slender ones and rested her head on hers, and looked out of the window.

Jessica had woken up quite a while before they reached their stop, and found her hand in Taeyeon’s. Blinking her eyes drowsily, she sat up straight and found herself on a bus.
“Where are we going?” she asked.
“Oh! You’re awake! You fell asleep in the bar, and we’re going to my apartment now, if that’s okay with you,” Taeyeon smiled at her.
“Okay,” she leaned against Taeyeon again, unintentionally sighing in contentment, “what did you do with my guitar?”
“Oh uh, I couldn’t carry you and the guitar at the same time, so I left it with Yuri.”
“Okay.”
“Are you going to say anything else other than “okay”?” Taeyeon laughed.
“I don’t know, I have nothing much to say,” Jessica poked her inner cheek with her tongue. She tried to think of conversation topics, but was stopped when she heard the soft, angelic laughing of Taeyeon and lips pressed against her cheek.
Taeyeon squeezed her hand softly, “you’re perfect, Jessica Jung.”
Jessica looked around cautiously, to see if there was anyone in the surrounding area and if they would see them. Thankfully, as it was late at night, not many people were on the bus, and they were also at the back. She let out a relieved sigh and turned towards Taeyeon. She was still laughing and grinning, but was quickly silenced by Jessica pulling her into an embrace and kissing her.

“Jessica Jung definitely isn’t a ,” she thought as she edged closer and looped her arms around her waist, smiling into the kiss.

Chapter 33: yea, well, many fans matured after 930 so...it really depends where you're looking at. i can't go well with the 3rd gen so i'm one of those few people who will be staying at our safe place: 2nd gen. i accept that sooner or later, they'll marry someone or suddenly plan to live a private life but my time with 2nd gen is and will always be precious to me. they gave my life a reason to actually live, instead of just staying alive. they coloured my once grey world. good luck on whatever you'll do in the future tho.
