With a heavy heart, you walked into the school gates. Your eyes searched for a certain person and when you found them, you felt your heart sink. Oh Sehun, your best friend and your unrequited lover. You have been with him since your childhood days and you basically knew everything about him.

You knew his favourite food, the way he eats, his favourite sport, the way he behaves out of school and even his school crush. You definitely knew it wasn’t you. Who would like a girl like you anyway? Even though you were smart, you had many flaws. You were clumsy and forgetful, everything you do seems to be a mistake.

For example, during cooking class you had to cook an egg omelet. Being forgetful, you forgot it was still cooking on the stove and it slightly burnt. When it was time for taste testing, you got lucky as your teacher was actually impressed. Even though it was burnt on the bottom, everything else tasted amazing.

‘I guess I was just lucky that time’ you thought as you headed towards your homeroom.

As you were about to enter class, someone called out to you. Turning your eyes towards the owner, you gave the person a small smile. “Annyeong, Sehun-ah,” you answered.

“Annyeong!” he replied brightly, before fidgeting with his fingers.

With furrowed brows you spoke to him. “Is something the matter Sehun?”

He looked at you with uneasy eyes before sighing. “I have girl problems,” he muttered.

Your mouth twitched in an amusing manner before laughing softly. “Girl problems? Like what kind?” you laughed.

Sehun pouted as you laughed at him. “Come on, you know what it is,” he said, crossing his arms.

With an innocent look, you shook your head indicating that you knew nothing about what he was talking. With a sigh he looked at you with pleading eyes. “It’s about MinAh” he mumbled.

With some force, you pretended to be surprise. “MinAh? What about her? Are you ready to ask her out or something?” you questioned him.

Sehun nodded shyly in return. Your heart skipped a beat and your mind went blank. He was ready. He was ready to take another step. He’s actually serious about it. “Are you serious?” you whispered, looking at him with curious eyes.

He nodded his head again. “And I need your help.”

You felt your insides turning upside down. “Why me?” you asked, uneasy of his request.

“Because, your my best friend. And best friends stick together remember?” he replied, holding both sides of your shoulders.

Your lips quivered and you looked down. “Fine.” You muttered. In response, Sehun yipped happily.

“Oh thank you! You have no idea how much I love you!” he said before running off towards his class. “Meet me at the usual spot after school.”

With a scoff, you cross your arms. “I hope he fails,” you mumble.

“Hope who fails?” someone voiced out. Gasping you looked at the person with a shcok expression.

“Don’t scare me like that Lay-ssi” you responded, softly hitting him on his shoulder.

Said boy laughed at you before rubbing his shoulder softly. “Sorry, I was just curious on why you were talking to yourself,” he replied.

“Just go away, Sehun and I are meeting today here,” you said, pushing him away.

With a pout, Lay grabbed your hands. “You don’t like me?” he unexpectedly questions. With wide eyes, you stared at him.

“B-Bwo?” you respond. His eyebrows furrowed in concentration before sighing.

“I guess not,” he said. He let go of your hands and sulked softly. With a sigh, you cupped his face with your hands.

“Lay-ssi, I do like you,” you replied. Lay’s eyes brighten at your response before frowning.

“But not the way I want you to,” he said before walking away.

“Lay-ssi! Wait!” you called out to him but he disappeared at the corner of the block. You sulked a little. You didn’t think you would hurt his feelings. Besides you were still confused with your own.

You had loved Sehun ever since you could remember, but as he kept leaving you for MinAh, Lay had been there more than he had in the past. You just couldn’t help but feel confuse on who to choose. Would you choose Sehun, your first love and childhood friend or Lay, your other best friend who had been there equally as much as Sehun.

“Argh, I can’t seem to choose” you grumbled.

As you were kept mumbling under your breathe, Sehun popped out of the view with his bike. “Hey!” he called out your name.

Looking up, you smiled at him. “Hey Sehun!” you said.

“I’m glad you are here! Remember about my favor?” he asked and you nodded in reply. “Well MinAh is sort of your classmate in biology and I want you to ask her to meet me behind the school building tomorrow.”

You crook your brow at him. “I don’t think we have biology tomorrow though,” you muttered. Sehun sighed disappointingly at you.

“Aish. Why must you be so forgetful? You do have classes with her tomorrow,” he replied.

You pouted and crossed your arms. “Well sorry for being forgetful, maybe you should ask someone else to help you since I might even forget to ask her,” you hissed. Sehun panicked at this and waved his limbs around in disagreement.

“No, no, no! Don’t be like that,” he quickly said, “you are supposed to be my friend remember! I won’t say something offensive again!”

You looked at him in the eye before turning away. “Fine, but you owe me a cookie,” you responded, poking your tongue at him. Sehun laughed and nodded his head in reply.

You could feel the tears starting to bream at the corner of your eyes. You just couldn’t take it. Turning around, you walked away from the couple and saw Lay sitting by himself with his guitar.

“Lay,” you spoke softly out to him. He turned to look at you with a small smile and gestured you to come closer. “Hey.”

“Hey,” he replied.

You sat there next to him in a sort of awkward silence before sighing as you could hear Sehun’s and MinAh’s voice.

“Something bothering you?” Lay queried. You shook your head but you saw how Lay didn’t seem convinced at all.

“Yes.”

“What is it?”

“Love,” you mumble.

Lay smiled and patted your head in sympathy. “I know how you feel.”

“How?” you wringer.

“This girl I like doesn’t seem to love me as much as she loves this other boy,” he explained. You frowned at him.

“That’s stupid, how can someone not like you? You are generous, kind, handsome, cute, slightly clumsy but that’s okay. Everything else is flawless!” you exclaim. Lay chuckles.

“It’s you.”

“Bwo?” you sputter out. You? You? Out of all the female population in the school, he chose you. “Waeyo?”

“Because, you are everything,” he whispers as he leans close to you. You flush at his comment. You didn’t want him to come any closer yet you couldn’t find the strength to push him away.

With a small peck on your cheeks, Lay stood up to look down at you. Laughing, he snapped a photo of you. “Look how red you are!” he laughed.

“Shut up! You kissed me on the cheek unexpectingly!” you retorted, pointing accusingly at him.

“But you liked it, didn’t you?” he said, wriggling his eyebrows mischievously.

“Lay!!” you exclaimed as he dodged your punch.

“Come and get me!” he sang out, running away from your grasp. You bite your lower lip in amusement before running after him.

“Yah, Lay Yixing! Come here!”

Well even though you couldn’t be with your first love, you knew there was another person waiting for you. Someone much better, someone who could share your feelings to. And that someone was right in front of you. Lay.
