Shattered

Baekhyun didn't know why this was happening to him. Was he simply at the wrong place at the wrong time? Was the world testing how long he could hold his oath, if he could hold it until the end?

Whatever reason it was, Baekhyun didn't like it one bit.

The start of the week had already been really stressful for him. He had met this girl, Yoona, who looked a lot like her. He almost broke his oath and almost hit Luhan in the face. He had to watch from the side as the girl he met almost got into danger but could do nothing to help, and that wasn't the only time he watched her almost get into danger.

Everything was just so frustrating. It felt like the past was replaying itself again and again, except that the girl would change each time, looking more and more like her, and the fact that Baekhyun couldn't do anything but watch each time it happened frustrated him the most.

And now, here he was hiding awkwardly behind a wall as he watched Luhan cup Yoona's face and hug her tightly while all he could do was feel the constricting pain in his chest and frown.

He wasn't the type to think "that should be me" or whatever, but standing behind a wall and watching Luhan and Yoona look lovey dovey, he couldn't help but think what if he was the one there, hugging Yoona, instead of Luhan, what if he was the one who met her first, what if he was the one she would fall in love with.

*No, she belongs to Luhan-hyung, not me.*

Baekhyun let out a shaky breath and slowly walked away from the scene in front of him. It'd hurt too much already, way too much than he could normally handle. If only there was a medicine for the pain he felt in his heart, if only--

"Bacon!! Yah! You red-headed bacon, what are you doing there?"

             "Baekhyun?"

At that moment, Baekhyun could have slammed his face against the wall he was hiding at and bury himself under the ground. Why did his curly haired giant of a friend have to be so loud and noisy? Now, Luhan and Yoona would probably think he's a stalker or eavesdropping on them or something.

He exhaled and turned to face his tall friend with a scowl.

             "What do you want, Chanyeol?"

             The boy in question shrugged.

"I don't know really. I just saw you hiding behind that wall and found it funny~ What's behind that wall anyway?"

Baekhyun bit his lip as Chanyeol looked behind him and turned pale.

             "Oh. Umm, hi?"

< | >

To say that Luhan was upset was an understatement.

When he left Yoona alone during lunch, Luhan felt like it was one of the worst decision he ever made in his life. Immediately after he left her alone, a pot almost fell on her. He didn't even know who would do this. Was it one of his fan girls? Luhan didn't think so. Why would they anyway?

To Luhan, all that matters now was that Yoona was in his arms, safe and protected, though she did get a scratch on her face. That single scratch on her face was enough to get Luhan mad over whoever did this to her face. If Yoona wasn't hurt and didn't need medical attention, he didn't think he could have controlled himself. He'd rush up to the rooftop and find whoever had tried to hurt Yoona.

Just when things couldn't seem to get worse, his nosy friends just had to disrupt his moment with Yoona. Well, it wasn't that he was enjoying the hug which he actually was. It's just that, couldn't they pick a better time?

             "Oh. Umm, hi?"

Luhan grunted silently as Chanyeol waved awkwardly to them while Baekhyun seemed to be glaring at the giant intensely. What were these two doing here in the first place? Honestly, Luhan didn't know. He didn't think he'd like to know either.

             "Hey, Chanyeol."

Luhan watched Yoona as she smiled politely and greeted back. He couldn't help but stare. Why did she have to look like her so much? Why did she have to look so plain but beautiful? Why did he have to be so drawn to her?

*Why did she have to be mundane?*

Somehow, the question just popped up in his head. It was something Luhan knew deep inside but just buried to forget. Yoona was human, and Luhan couldn't possibly fall for her.

Despite the feeling being different recently, Luhan convinced himself that it was just his illusion of love. Yoona was human, and he had to stop while he wasn't in too deep.

"Umm, Baekhyun, I have to go somewhere. Can you-- uhh-- bring Yoona to the clinic?"

             "Sure, but--"

             "Thank you."

Luhan quickly run past them and managed to catch Baekhyun raising his brow at him before turning on a corner.

             This was just bad.

Umm, Baekhyun, I have to go somewhere. Can you-- uhh-- bring Yoona to the clinic?

The moment Luhan said those words, Yoona already stopped listening. She didn't know why Luhan would suddenly need to leave, why Luhan would save her but leave her hanging, why Luhan tempted her into doing something she swore to never do again, and why Luhan made her feel this way. "This way" being something she never wanted to be feeling again ever since what happened to her seven years ago.

Yoona watched helplessly as Luhan left her side and ran past the two boys standing in front of her. It was a weird feeling, but Yoona wanted to be enveloped in Luhan's warmth again. She didn't want Luhan to let go when he hugged her, and she definitely didn't want Luhan to leave her right now.

She was about to follow after Luhan when Baekhyun suddenly grabbed her arm.

"Come on. We have to get you to the nurse's office."

Yoona wanted to shake Baekhyun off and tell him to leave her alone and that she was fine. She wanted to run after Luhan and ask him what was wrong, but she knew that would be wrong. She had to go to the clinic, and maybe that would cure her of her delirious thoughts too.

She simply nodded and let Baekhyun lead her to the clinic with Chanyeol following close behind.

The feeling of Baekhyun's hand on hers was different, different from what Yoona wanted it to be. It didn't fill up that empty feeling unlike Luhan. It was warm, but it didn't make her feel warm. It just was different. Her heart didn't beat faster, and she didn't feel the flutters.

*WAA! Stop comparing things to Luhan, Yoona. You're being weird, as in really weird, delirious weird. This isn't you. Stop it. Stop thinking about Lu--*

              "Does it hurt?"

Yoona stopped when she realized that Baekhyun had just stopped walking and was looking at her with soft eyes. She quickly shook her head and gave Baekhyun a tight-lipped smile.

              "Aniyo, I'm perfectly fine."

Baekhyun slowly reached his hand forward and caressed her wounded cheek with a frown.

"You should be more careful. I don't like seeing you hurt."

His eyes looked sincerely sad, and Yoona didn't like seeing that look. It was the same look he gave Luhan when they fought, the look he had when he left.

              "Mianhe, Baekhyun."

He smiled at her and ruffled her hair.

"Don't apologize. It's not your fault."

              "Still--"

From behind, Chanyeol awkwardly cleared his throat to remind them that he was still there.

"I think we should get you treated first."

Yoona looked back and smiled at Chanyeol.

              "Ah, yes, gomawo, Chanyeol-sshi."

Chanyeol just shrugged and walked in front of them.

"I'm just following what Luhan-hyung told me to do."

Baekhyun rolled his eyes and matched Chanyeol's pace.

"You mean what Luhan told me to do."

"'Baekhyun,' 'Chanyeol,' it all sounds the same to me." Chanyeol answered, forgetting Yoona who was being left behind.

"There's a huge difference between our names, Yeol."

"Well, I don't see the difference."

              "You're just being stupid."

              "I'm not stupid, you bacon."

"Don't call me bacon, you egg!"

Yoona was definitely feeling awkward. It wasn't that she wanted their attention, but it was more of she didn't get why the two boys in front of her were arguing about their names or why they were calling each other 'bacon' and 'egg.'

The growing fatigue in her didn't help either. She didn't know why she was suddenly feeling weak. Sure, she had just recovered from her fever a few days ago, but she was supposed to be fully recovered, supposed to be. Her steps were getting slower, and her vision was getting blurry. She leaned on the wall for support. *Ugh, go away head ache.*

Baekhyun finally noticed that she was lagging behind and looked back. He paled seeing Yoona lean on the wall tiredly and immediately ran to her side, frantically calling her name.

              "Yoona, gwenchana?"

She nodded her head. "I'm just a little dizzy."

Baekhyun sighed and supported her with his arm.

              "Should I carry you?"

              "I'm not a kid, Baekhyun."

              "Ok, fine."

Yoona continued walking in silence with Baekhyun and Chanyeol supporting her on both sides, and honestly, Yoona felt even more awkward. She felt like a captive alien in between two tall people.

She sighed. Getting to the clinic was taking forever, and the awkward silence did not make it any better. She kind of wished that Baekhyun and Chanyeol had gone back to bickering with each other.

"I still think carrying you would be a better idea." Baekhyun said after a while.

"Well, I think otherwise, Baekhyun so stop worrying. This is just a minor head ache."

"I don't think looking like you're about to collapse is a symptom of a minor head ache."

Yoona threw her arms up in exasperation.

              "You're exaggerating it!"

Chanyeol looked at the both of them weirdly and sighed.

"You two look like some old cheesy couple."

              "You're not helping, Yeol."

              Chanyeol let out another sigh.

"Look, you're both wrong, okay? Baek, she doesn't need to be carried. You're just exaggerating."

Yoona looked triumphantly at Baekhyun who just rolled his eyes.

"But, it's obviously not a minor head ache, Yoona, so don't go underestimating that."

Baekhyun let out a relieved sigh when they finally reached the clinic. He couldn't stand watching Yoona looking so frail. It made it hard for him to control his feelings.

He quickly slid the door open and was surprised to find someone else inside instead of the nurse, someone he just wasn't expecting to see.

              "Wu Fan?"

I'm really sorry for the crappy and late update!!! I've just been stressed and busy TToTT  plus I had this writer's block and all my inspiration left me for a while though I did manage to make the foreword for a Christmas special one-shot featuring Hunhan, Counting Stars (inspired by EXO's new MV which I would spazz over but my a/n is already long so I'll refrain from spazzing.) It might take a few more days for me to finish typing it though. Anyway, my a/n shouldn't about my new fic. So, I'm sorry again!! I really feel bad for the late update and many other things :(

Now regarding this chapter, I can't believe I called Baekhyun tall here XD (I'm sorry but he's just really shorter than the other members of EXO, but he's still my # 2, second only to Xiumin. hehe) I know he isn't that tall, but Yoona is shorter than him so let it slip. The captive alien feeling is context to Lovely Complex (It's an anime and I <3 it! Anyone here knows what I'm talking about? >o< ) I'll say this in advance. Next few chapters might be Luyoon deprived cause the drama and conflicts are about to start. This chapter is kinda like a preparation. I'll stop at this. I really don't know why, but my a/ns are so long XD
Thank you for all the comments from the previous chapter and thank you for all the love!! I love you guys!!

See you on the next update~
