“So you’re saying that you missed me,” Jaejoong said, with a smirk and his arms crossed.

“Yeah you did,” Jaejoong pressed, clearly amused.

“Think whatever you want. But I didn’t miss you.”

All Jaejoong did was nod, as if he knew this already. I took this as a sign to the end of this discussion and reached for the door knob to my room, but suddenly, Jaejoong spoke up. “Wait.” He stepped closer to me, closing the space that lied between us. “I need to show you something.”

            “Huh?”

“Just follow me.” Jaejoong suddenly took my hand in his, holding it tight, as he led me down the stairs. His hand felt warm and soft in mine, and it felt so right just then. As if he our hands were puzzle pieces that were meant to be linked together.

Jaejoong dragged me to the backyard, where the pool lights were , sending light beams across the water.

“Jaejoong, what are you doing?” I asked.

Jaejoong suddenly let go of my hand and pointed to the sky. “Look…a full moon.”

I looked up and fixed my gaze on the direction that he was pointing at. And sure enough, sitting brightly against the blanket of black sky, was a round, pale yellow moon.

“You dragged me out here for this?”

“Well, yeah. I’ve never seen a full moon before.”

            “Really.”

            Jaejoong nodded. “Not lying.”

Jaejoong fixed his gaze at the full moon and I did the same. For a while, we just stood there, looking at it, the crickets chirping around us and the sound of the pool water waves singing in the distance.

“So…how was it?” Jaejoong suddenly said, his tone serious.

            “How was what?” I questioned.

“Your date.” Jaejoong turned to look at me. “With Hyun Joong.”

“How do you know about that?” I asked.

“I followed you after school. You could’ve told me you know,” Jaejoong said, keeping his eyes away from mine.

“I was going to tell you in the morning. But you were so busy with Jennifer that I didn’t even bother. You wouldn’t even care anyway,” I said without thinking.

Jaejoong looked up at me and his facial expression…looked hurt, disappointed, pained.

“You think I don’t care about you?” Jaejoong asked, clearly angry.

I realized the power of my words and I didn’t know what to say next. This was a yes or no question, no in between answers.

            “W-Well…you-

“Do you really think that I’m that bad? C’mon _______. After all we’ve been through. Tiffany trying to poison you, trying to drown you, kidnapping us, wanting to kill us. She almost beat you up to death. I was there with you, through every step of the way, through everything that she has done to you.” Jaejoong raised his voice, “I stopped her from trying to kill you. And here you are, still thinking that I don’t give a about you? Of course if it was me, I would’ve went right up there to Hyun Joong and push him down a cliff when I saw you get into his car. But I didn’t. And do you know why?” Jaejoong took a step closer towards me, enclosing the space between us. “Because I ing care about you, ok? I care about your happiness and who you wish to be with. Even though this marriage isn’t going to end anytime soon, I don’t want you to be miserable. But you are miserable when you’re with me right?”

When I didn’t respond to his question, Jaejoong asked it again, his tone even louder. “Right?”

I looked up at him, my heart racing as I was. Here he was, saying how much he cared about me, confirming it for that matter. And I’ve been standing in the dark, thinking that he didn’t even give a about me. I wasn’t even miserable when I was with him. I wanted to tell him that whenever he’s by my side I feel safe, secure, and most of all, happy. The date with Hyun Joong today was nice and all, without anything chaotic, but it was just so boring. And I was tortured throughout it, thinking what Jaejoong would’ve been doing at the moment. Little did I know that he was watching after me the whole time I was thinking of him. But in the end, I decided to do the only thing I can when in a situation like this. Tell the truth.

“No. I’m not miserable when I’m with you. In fact…” I swallowed. “It’s only when I’m with you…is when I’m at my happiest.” I looked up at him. Only parts of his face were showing since there was only the light of the pool and moon out, but at that moment, I felt like I could see everything inside of him. Even his heart. And maybe, just maybe, it was beating for me. And only me.

Jaejoong smiled. “You don’t know how happy I am to hear that.”

I smiled back and suddenly had an idea.

“Hey Jaejoong, you know what’s fun to do under a full moon?” I asked.

            “What?”

And with that, I push him into the pool, him landing with a big splash. He stayed underwater for a while, before resurfacing, shaking his wet hair and running a hand through it.

“Ok, I did NOT see that coming!” Jaejoong said.

“You weren’t supposed to,” I said, trying not to laugh.

“You know, you’re going to join me soon.”

            “Huh?”

And before I knew it, Jaejoong had grabbed my hand and pulled me into the pool as well. I struggled a bit before remembering what Jaejoong had taught me and went up to the surface. I was seriously going to kill him for that but when I got up, he was gone. No where in sight.

“Jaejoong?” I scanned my eyes around the pool. “Jaejoong?” I repeated.

Suddenly, I felt a small tickle on the bottom of my foot. Irritated, I kicked whatever was tickling me away but it just came back, harder then before. I dove under to see what it was that was irritating me and came face to face with Jaejoong. He smirked and swam away, leaving me to chase him. I did the best I could, but he was too fast. I got up to catch my breath and as I was, Jaejoong went up and did the same. We were face to face, the space between us extremely small.

            “That was fun,” I remarked.

“Sure was. I haven’t done that in a real while,” Jaejoong replied.

I looked up to meet my eyes with his, and for what seemed like a real long time, just found myself getting lost in them. So big and brown, I could get lost in there and never get out for all I care. Then, Jaejoong made a move. His hand slowly slid up, and with it, he cradled my cheek, pulling me closer to him. My heart was beating so fast at this point that I didn’t even know that there was this extent to this rapid pace. Jaejoong leaned in closer, until my open eyes couldn’t see him anymore, and before I knew it, his lips were right on top of mine, touching mine.

            He was kissing me.

At first, I couldn’t believe it. I even closed my eyes and reopened them to see if this was a dream or not. But it wasn’t a dream, it was reality. But even more then that, I swore that as soon his  lips pressed down on mine, I had felt a million fireworks go off in side of me, sending my entire body on fire. Jaejoong’s hand slid down from my cheek, to my neck, to my shoulder, down my arm, and onto my waist, pulling me even closer to him then I was before. I kissed him back, wanting to enjoy this moment while it lasted.
