Jiyong was quick to explain what he meant by spending the whole weekend together. He would be away in Singapore for a concert and would be gone for two days so would make it up to me by taking me somewhere for the weekend. I still couldn't help but feel the return of those butterflies at the thought of us going away together. Just the two of us. For a weekend. Alone.

I shook my head, stop dreaming Lola, he mentioned how much he valued out friendship. That's what guys say when they're not interested in you romantically! I sighed putting on my coat and grabbing my bag. 

I walked to where Minji's office was and waited as she got her stuff together for lunch, she linked arms with me

"I can't wait to hear everything that has been happening"

You like him don't you" Minji said as we ate our lunch

I shook my head 

"Don't deny it. The way you talk about him, I can see your eyes sparkle"

"Ok, but he doesn't see me in that light" I finally agreed

"Lola, he calls you beautiful, spends time with you and tells you how much he enjoys doing so, has opened up about his family. I think he does but you're being too stubborn with your 100 day rule" She said 

I couldn't help but agree with what Minji had just said. If I told a stranger about Jiyong and I they would assume that we were a couple. I would find myself day dreaming about being with Jiyong romantically but would stop myself each time. 

"What if things don't work out and I've lost someone who is becoming a great friend?" I asked Minji

"Isn't it better to have loved and lost?" 

"It's only been five days since we met. I need to give it time" I told Minji truthfully "If I change my mind and decide to go home than we can continue a friendship but if I stay then I will look into having a more romantic relationship with him."

"Why not take the chance now?"

"I don't want the possibility that our relationship has an expiration date. It's not just me deciding if I want to stay it's my boss. If he doesn't want me working for him than I can be fired. This 100 day thing is not solely down to me"

"Ok, I won't press the issue anymore. Just enjoy the time you two are having together without worrying about an end" She said

We started to make our way back to the office

"Are you seeing him tonight?" Minji asked

"No, I won't see him until Friday evening."

"Why is that?" 

"He's in Singapore, but he's making it up to me we're spending the weekend together" I said waving goodbye to a speechless Minji.

I laughed as I closed my office door, she is too easy to mess with.

Although I didn't see Jiyong in person I was still talking to him often through text messages late night phone calls and even some face time when I wasn't so busy in the office. 

He told me how much he missed me and the time we spent together and also that he couldn't wait for me to see him perform at his next concert in Seoul. 

Once again his behavior pointed towards relationship more than friendship but that was how he had always behaved around me.

I got a message from my boss to see him after work. I was eager to leave because Jiyong would be picking me up in under two hours for our weekend trip.

"Mr. Park?" I asked knocking on his open door

"Lola, please come in." He gestured towards a seat opposite his desk "And what have I told you about calling me Mr. Park when it's just the two of us. Just call me Hyunsoo"

"Sorry" I said, bowing my head a little.

Hyunsoo was very charismatic, he had to be to get as far as he had in a short space of time. He would always tell me about his private life and at first i thought it was him trying to make me comfortable but when I told Minji she would recoil in horror.

"He's your boss, he should not behave like that" She had told me after the first time he hugged me "That just doesn't happen in Korea"

I had been told of Korea's strict hierarchy when it came to age and status but it did not cross my mind that he was being too personal. It happened all the time in England. Friendship happened between two people because of mutual interests and likes, age is very rarely a factor. 

Hyunsoo would tell me about his recent marriage, his father's ill health and his sisters' latest boyfriend. He acted as though there was no barrier that would stop us from having a friendship even though he was my boss and 14 years my senior. 

"It's been two weeks since you started. How is everything?" He asked me

"It's still too early to tell. I'm finding something new everyday and although I like the challenge it can still be difficult" I sighed

"Just remember that I am here not only as your boss but as an older figure, like a brother. If you have any issues or concerns let me know. But also let me know if you're having too much fun, I might have to give you more work" He laughed patting my knee in the process

I didn't say anything, I didn't want to jeopardize my job at the company because I was thinking into things too much.

"If that's all sir, I mean Hyunsoo, could I go? I'm meeting a friend" I asked standing up

"Of course, I'll see you on Monday"

I left the office in a hurry, this weekend away could not have come sooner.
