Around the same time three friends meet up to have a drink, a fourth wanders dangerous streets draped in a misty grey. She pads barefoot, her chocolate eyes set straight ahead, but not really focused on anything. And just like her eyes, her mind is empty. No thoughts, no dreams, no hope.
Night has fallen; the grey less visible with the lack of light. A siren blares in the distance, but she pays no mind. She’s been in the fog so long that nothing affects her anymore. Not even time.
If someone were to ask her how long she’s been there she wouldn’t be able to give an answer. She lost count years ago. She could maybe guess about 20 years, but she’d be off by 5. She can’t even guess using her age because she retains the body and looks she had the moment she became one with this world.
The only thing she keeps track of is visiting a very special grave. The one she is walking to right now.
As she strolls on, there are creatures of all kinds that walk beside her, behind her, in front of her, and away from her. She pays them no mind, just like the screeching siren. Once she was afraid of them. Once she would have hidden. Not anymore though.
What reason would she? Why would SHE need to be afraid of them?
A short, roundish thing with the cry of an infant trips and lands in front of the girl. The girl, forced to stop, snaps out of her daze and glances down at the thing. The creature shifts its head in her direction. Even though it has no eyes it’s obviously looking at her. It’s mindless, but not stupid. It knows when to be afraid. It knows when death is near.
The girl’s eyes turn grey for a second. A dark, luminescent grey that sparkles in the moonlight.
In that one millisecond the creature lets out a heart wrenching a cry before exploding; causing its bloody gore to not only paint the street, and the monsters around it, but also the white dress the girl is wearing.
