The defiant expression on the tall girl's face vanished and the color of her chubby cheeks ran from a faint tinge of pink to crimson red. Embarrassment etched all over her pretty face. Changmin stopped laughing upon realizing what he had just said. The girl however recovered, faster than Changmin has expected, and sassily snapped back at him.   "You just got here but you've already had your eyes on things you shouldn't even be seeing? I guess the rumor is true, you erted excuse of a doofus!"   Now, that hit hard for the mayor's son.   "I'm not a ert! And if I'm going to be one, it's definitely not for you!" he glared at her for a few seconds before he turned his back, quickly walking away from the scene.   "Wait, handsome!"   Changmin felt his ear perk up along with the scrunching of his eyebrows. What's with this girl? Is she drunk?   "Well, it's almost lunchtime so maybe you could sit down for a while and have lunch with me?"   He turned around to see the tall girl grinning mischievously at him. Her cheeky attitude a moment ago completely concealed with her warm and hospitable tone of voice. He took time to observe the apparent sincerity on her face. But then again, Changmin has never met a person whose mood swings rival that of a possum: swinging from one mood to another as if it's a normal thing to do. And for him, people who display such bipolar tendencies are bad news.   "Thank you for the offer but no. I'd rather go." He walked briskly to his car and slammed his door shut. He started up the engine but the car gave out what sounded like a mechanical version of a whooping cough.   "Geez!" He slapped his forehead and banged his head on the steering wheel. He kept hitting his head on the wheel when he heard someone knocking on his window. He looked out to see the same tall girl smiling toothily back at him.   "Hi!" the girl waved at her cheerfully but he can't hear any word she's saying. Every sound from outside the car was muted by the thick glass. The girl seemed not to care whether she can be heard or not. She kept on knocking and pointing at him.   Changmin rolled down the windows, a look of annoyance on his face. "WHAT?"   "Aren't you hungry?" she smiled sappily at him. "NO." "It's almost lunchtime ---" "I said NO." he snapped angrily. "Suit yourself." instead of being annoyed, the girl seemed unaffected of his rude behavior. "Good luck on getting out of here." She smiled sweetly at him before turning her back to walk into the house.   Changmin stared open-mouthed as the girl went inside her homely cottage. He revved up the engine again but the car gave out a raspy cough as a reply. It was a hot day so he didn't roll the windows back up. The car wouldn't start and the air-conditioning system is dead. Beads of sweat were starting to form on his forehead as he tapped the wheel with his fingers thinking of what to do next. He has been sitting on the car for about five minutes when he heard his stomach rumble.   "Argh!" His eyes darted on the door of the cottage, expecting it to burst open with the girl telling her to come inside, but the wooden door remained snugly fit into its frame.   Another five minutes passed by and he swore his stomach's rumbling rose a few decibels higher from its first warning. Suddenly, his nose picked up a wonderful scent wafting into the air.   STEAK.   The aroma came from the open window on the left side of the cottage. His stomach yapped at him for the third time and he decided that he just couldn't take it anymore. He went out of the car, marched through the gate towards the house, and rapped toughly on the door.   One, two, three... four, five
