Raging Wars

Part two

            From the topmost tower of the palace of fire one can see the pillars of smoke rising from the sea. These pillars signify the ongoing war in the waters of the Heiyan Bay. The Consort of Rysia stands at the towers’ open air balcony watching the unending dance of black fumes looking like a firefly attracted to the light of a flame. War and destruction seemed inevitable, no matter how peaceful a flame is, it will in the end burn and destroy those around it. This is the plague of their regnum, the inability of their race to maintain peace amongst their neighboring countries, how he has hoped for the opposite of their nature. Why can’t they be like Rysos, the sun, the giver of light to their solar system? Or better yet why can’t they be like Geiya? The everlasting nurturer of their planet, its gentle rays that caress their barren earth making everything around them bloom. Is war really the only way to solve problems? Why can’t they just settle things in a diplomatic way? What will war achieve? He is sure that within their iron physique, women also have the ability to love and care for others. War will only lead to bloodshed and death…

            “Why can’t Masuda understand that not everything in life has to be dealt-with with force and weapons?” He asks himself tearfully as his gentle heart is troubled by the intense fear of losing his lover in battle. With a heavy heart he orders his men to pack his belongings and prepare an envoy to the Heiyan Bay. He will join the battle, Masuda needs him the most now, their regnum need him the most now…

Aone

            The whole court is buzzing with the news of the war between Rysia and the female regnum of Spruxia. The Altus Regem (High King) has ordered a grand feast to be prepared since the members of the Circle of Paleo will be gathering in the capital. He intends to call on their armed forces to aid Rysia in this battle of honor. The whole court is one in this quest to regain their races’ lost honor thus even the Consort is busy with the whole affair of having a back-up plan in case the crown prince falters in his task.

            Don in white robes the Altus Regem inspects himself in the mirror as his numerous valets help him in getting ready for the gathering. He is presented with the best boots and the best garments that the tailors of his grand regnum can provide. Waistcoats and trousers of the best Aonian style are set before him while robes of heavy gold embroidery is displayed for him to see. After trying out the clothes he finally makes a choice and his valets dress him in his chosen garments. He had his hair cut to a shoulder length and has ordered his hairdressers to leave in tousled. With his crown in place and his numerous military awards pinned on his robed he steps out of his chamber and heads towards the elaborate meeting hall where all of the members of the Circle are present. Upon entering the domed hall he spots King Kazuya admiring himself in a hand held mirror, dressed in an overly flashy outfit studded with gems and precious metals. Beside King Kazuya is King Ninomiya looking worried and distressed while reading what seems to be the reports of the ongoing battle in Heiyan Bay. The King of Naris, Yuichi, looking as rustic as a legendary hunter with his exotic fur robe. King Yuichi looks overly hyped as usual, nothing excites the King of Naris more that the notion of war and battle.  The Altus Regem is sure that Naris will join the war. The King of Enri has declined the call of the Circle yet again using the same excuse he has used as always and that is his inability to leave his regnum and his son unattended. He sits down on his throne at the northern end of the hall and immediately all eyes are on him. He starts off the meeting instantly dropping all formalities amongst his fellow royals.

            “I am pretty sure all of you know of the purpose of this meeting.” He begins as the other kings’ make themselves comfortable in their seats. They all nod and speak out their minds.

            “We are here to gather our forces in aid to Rysia’s situation.” King Kazuya said prideful.

            “Yes that is exactly our goal.” The Altus Regem answers but sees the unnatural actions of King Ninomiya. “Is there a problem Ninomiya?” He asks.

            The King of Shou looks up and says in a voice tainted with uncertainty. “Has Rysia asked your permission to begin this war? I mean we are up against Spruxia… the Triad w..” 

            He is cut off by King Kazuya’s statement. “The Triad never HELPS!”

            King Kazuya’s voice boomed in the whole hall.

            “What’s wrong Ninomiya are you scared?” King Yuichi teases him. King Ninomiya glares at King Yuichi.

           “You have the freedom to decline giving aid Ninomiya.” The Altus Regem said in a voice devoid of emotion.

            “I am just weighing the possible effects it will have on the
