Chapter 19

Raging Wars

                The peaceful waters of the Heiyan bay glisten against the silver moonlight. The gentle waves of sea mirror the whole scene before it. The sea air is full of serenity while the islands’ have been slumbering and rejuvenating itself after the horror of the storm. The island of Sirens has long been considered sacred grounds by those of Archaneaux since it is where the Creator has been believed to have stood when he created Archaneaux. The isle is especially sacred to the Rysians for it is on the very island that they have received the gift of fire. The island is bigger in comparison to its neighbors and it boasts of rare plants that not only bear scrumptious fruit but also serves as a home for the island’s varied living creatures. Crystal clear waters surround it and its vast stretch of reefs protects it from invaders and keeps the islands’ name as a sanctuary safe.

                The calmness of the night is broken when the wild animals occupying the island suddenly go on a rampage and run up to higher ground. The birds fly away and the sea creatures inhabiting the island’s waters scurry away. Beyond the horizon huge naval fleets slowly approach the island’s façade. These are huge ships made of metal whose decks are full blazing fire and heavy cannons that are aimed directly at the guard towers guarding the island. These cannons are glowing red amidst the moonlit light. At the center of the gigantic fleet is a massive ship lined with pure gold and etched with the symbols of fire. The red flag of Rysia stands erect upon the command ship’s deck identifying the invader’s nationality. The guards atop the tower immediately see the massive fleet and sound the alarm, seconds after the alarm have been sounded ginormous balls of fire are shot directly at the watch towers destroying them. The cannons shoot more fire globes straight at the fortifications of the island. The occupants of Sirens fight back and huge walls of earth have risen from the ground and block the cannons going straight at them. Magma rises from the sea floor heating up the waters above it and hurls straight at the walls. The guardians of the island create a bigger wall behind the wall now being turned to molten earth by the hot lava. In the darkness of the night the island of Sirens is being surrounded by fire.

                King Masuda looks out at the devastation before him on his mind he is pleased. His dream of taking back their sacred lands has finally become a reality. He will crush Spruxia’s forces with his massive fleet and go back to Tartharac full of honor and prestige. He will teach these women who is boss in Archaneaux. He orders a full attack on Sirens and gathers his troops for a land invasion. He wears his armor and dons on his battle helmet. He will accompany his generals in the land attack. His plans are hindered when Spruxia’s fighters create a large wall of earth around the islands. He slams his fist upon the table in anger.

                “Blast! Curse Spruxia for shamelessly trying to keep what is never meant to be theirs!” he yells angrily. His generals eye him nervously and wait for his next command.

                King Masuda looks at the wall and utters vehemently “Break that wall no matter what it takes! Summon the fire dragons and burn their fortresses to ashes!”

                General Yoon the one stationed at Sirens urgently sends a back-up signal to the capital via the trees, alerting them of the attack currently happening in the island. She stares at the massive Rysian fleet and feels her body swell with anger. Rysia has once again proven itself to be a traitor! A back stabbing kingdom that attacks another regnum even if a treaty has already been made!

                “My Lady we have to fortify our defenses the earthen walls will not last long!” her second in command says to her in panic.

                “We have already sent a message to Paramount all we can do now is keep the walls up as we wait for reinforcements.”

                Queen Minyoung has hurriedly arrived into the throne room and her advisers are behind her. The urgent news from Sirens has reached them and she demands an all-out war with Rysia. She angrily picks up her heavy skirts and sits at the throne with clenched fists.

                “Send the entire royal fleet to rescue Sirens and destroy the treacherous Rysian forces! Evacuate the citizens living in the island immediately. Give the military full control over the island! Rysia has started this. King Masuda will pay for this act even if we have to kill every human onboard their FLEET!”

The fight against the forces in Sirens has been going on the whole night and they are slowly weakening much to King Masuda’s happiness. He gears up his cannons with more ammunition using the magma present beneath the seabed and orders another rain of fire against Sirens.

                “Your majesty their forces are on the brink of defeat.” His commander Lord Saki says to him while looking at the island that has been charred by the numerous fire attacks it has received from the Rysian fleet. There is not a single tree left on the island and all greenery has been burned. The only standing structure on the island is the large walled city and the towering fortress surrounded by giant walls of e
