Chapter 10!

“Guys, we have to go. I want to go home now, I feel so tired.”

Yuri was inside her car with Nickhun. While Junho and I just dropped our bags to the ground and waited for them to leave.

“Thanks,Yul. Take care!”

“Dude, we’ll go first okay. See you at the office” It was Nickhun bidding farewell to us.

“Ok see you, thanks!” Junho said while I felt his hand at the small of my back.

As we saw the car drove off, Junho and I walked off, holding hands.

Reaching my front door, Junho asked for the key. I brought it out from my bag and gave it to him. He then helped me bring the bags inside and laid the other treats that we brought home in the kitchen counter.

“Need anything, Hyo? Are you okay now? I’ll just change and take a quick shower then let’s have dinner.”

I slumped down to the couch and lazily put my feet on top of the table as I felt dead tired from the trip. He then sat right beside me and draped his arm around me. I rested my head on his shoulder.

He kissed the top of my head and felt him squeeze my shoulder. I smiled thinking how good it was to have someone by your side and feel important… just like how Eunhyuk used to take care of me back then. God, I miss those days… and yet I found another set of loving arms to take me in.

“Hyo, you better go in your room and sleep a little. I’ll be right back.”

I never moved a limb and opened my eyes. I met his gaze and as he stood up and went for the door, he turned around and smiled at me. I simply nodded.

Sleep. I wanted to sleep but taking a hot bath was the first thing in my to-do list. The sound of trickling water consumed my bathroom. I went for the counter and took the bottle of my favorite bubble bath. Lavender. My preferred scent.

I took off my robe and slid inside the tub. The warmness of the water mixed with this flowery scent made it easy for me to doze off.

Hyo, baby… wake up… I baked you some pasta. C’mon, baby, wake, please?

That voice. It’s been awhile since I heard that voice. That gentle sweet treble that filled my ears with love…

I smiled with my eyes closed…feeling his soft lips on my forehead this time. I was so sure that right now, he would try to join me in the tub.

Hyo, baby… are you gonna wake up or what?

Hmmm…. okay, babe, I’ll wake up…

I answered but when I opened my eyes, there was nothing or no one. It’s only a dream.

Combing my tresses, I didn’t know what to make of my dream. It felt real.

Eunhyuk. It was never easy to forget you but I will try.

Junho. He will make me do that.

As I try to figure the senseless whirl of thoughts in my head…there was another extra voice that prevailed- Yuri’s.      

“But really, Hyo… I really do hope that you’re really serious about this… ‘coz I don’t want you to have any regrets later on.”

My phone rang and I was not even aware for how long it was ringing. All I know is that getting my heart back started in the island when Junho chose me… or was it more that I chose him?

Reaching for my phone, I was greeted by his voice… warm, tender and also sweet,

“Ready for dinner?”

And while my mind was again taking that trip down memory lane…as words of a dubious Yuri seemed to fade… I was torn… divided… by Junho’s sweetness and my recent dream.

“Yeah, will be ready in five. See you. Bye.”

I was swamped with work and this is what I hate about taking vacations. You’ll have the time to enjoy for a couple of days and when you get back, you are drowned with every bit of thinkable paperwork.

My father wouldn’t mind. In fact, the first thing that he said was, “You’re here already? I thought you’re going back next week?”

I loved the old man and I was fortunate to have his approval but seeing the tons of work before my desk alongside the meetings and scheduled meet-ups with clients… I was already on the verge of hating the idea that I went with Yuri.

It’s been hours since lunch and I was partly bothered by my vibrating phone. The irritating sound was clearly ignored as I continued typing away the reports. I knew who it was… Junho.

“Ma’am. Someone’s looking for you. Should I let him in?”

I looked up with my forehead creased.

“Huh? Was it my oppa? Is he asking for this already? Can you just tell him that I’m almost done?”

“Uhm… sorry ma’am but it’s not sir Heechul.”

“Then who?” I asked without looking at my secretary.

“Hyoyeon!”

Another voice filled the room and it surely not my secretary’s. I then saw this figure of a tall, handsome man who I had not seen for years. His presence though made me smile.

“Hyukjae?”                                                                                                                  

I could not believe my eyes when I saw him.

“Hyukjae, when did you arrive? And what brought you here?” Standing up, I welcomed my visitor with a warm embrace.

“Look at you, pretty. Do you have some time? I mean, wanna join me for coffee?”

“Uhm…yeah, sure. Why not! but could you spare me another ten minutes? I’ll just finish what I’m doing then we’re good to go.”

“Yeah, no problem, I could wait for a lifetime, haha!”

Chuckling, I went back to my desk and finished my report.  I then saw my phone nearby… opened the message,

Hi, Hyo! See you later. Can’t wait. - Junho                                             

I then started keying my message; I looked to my side and saw Hyukjae leafing through the pages of this magazine while waiting for me.

Junho, caught up in something. About the movie later… can we do it some other time?

Message sent.
