My Baby Tao
One Of Us (Hiatus)“Jiejie?” Tao called as Aera drove them home.
“Yeah?”
“Can we go for a walk?” he asked.
“A walk? I thought you usually went by yourself.”
“I feel like going on a walk with you like we used to.”
Aera softened at her brother’s words and stopped at a park. They got out and held tightly to their jackets because they both only had shorts on. They started their journey silently and walked down the path side by side.
“It’s been a while since we’ve done this.” Tao stated.
“There’s a lot of things we haven’t done in a while.” Aera replied.
“Should we do this more often?” he asked.
“That would be nice.” She nodded.
“Aigoo, my Jiejie is shorter than me.” He compared their heights. She was up to his shoulder.
“Shut up. You may be taller but you’re still my little brother.” She reminded.
“But I am wiser.”
“False.”
“I’m also romantic.”
“Do you always praise yourself?”
“Of course. Why else would I have this much charisma and confidence?”
“Aish.” She hissed and smacked his flat stomach.
“Ow!” he yelped. “You hit me a lot, I just want one hit to make up for it.”
“You better not.” She warned as she backed away. He still approached her and she started to run and didn’t notice the person in front of her before smacking right into him.
“Aera!” she heard Tao behind her.
“I’m sorry.” She apologized and bowed.
“We meet again.” She looked up to see the guy from the restaurant.
“Oh, Suho-shi.”
“Hi.” He smiled.
“How are you?”
“I’m good. Who’s he?” he asked suspiciously.
“Oh, this is my younger brother Tao.” She introduced.
“Ah, brother. Hi.” He eyed the boy.
“Uh, I’ll walk ahead.” He told Aera and bowed before walking on.
“He’s a cute kid.” Suho told her.
“He is.”
“I bet you would do anything for him.”
“Anything. I would protect him with my life.”
“Really? Well, I should get going. Bye.” He waved and left.
“Tao!” Aera called out to her brother and jogged to catch up.
“Who was that?”
“Just a guy Soomi and I bumped into at a ramen shop. He’s nice.”
“He is suspicious.”
“You think that about everyone, don’t you?”
“I get a weird feeling from that guy! My panda senses are never wrong.” He claimed.
“Sure.” She teased and bumped his hip with hers.
“Oh.” Tao yelped as he felt water drops on his head. “It’s raining.” He pointed out.
“Come on before we get wet.” Aera grabbed his hand and pulled him back to the car. They walked fast at first but as the rain poured harder they ended up sprinting to the car.
“We’re all wet!” Tao laughed as they dove into the car.
“You wanted to go on a walk.”
As the night drug on, the rain turned into a storm and thunder and lightning spread through the skies. Aera was lightly sleeping to the sound of wind and rain rapping on her window. Thunder became softer as she drifted but a sudden noise made her wake form her sleep. It was a repetitive thumping and as she gained consciousness she recognized it as her door being knocked on.
“Jiejie.” A small voice came from the other side. She sat up and sighed while rubbing her eyes.
