Closer
Infinitely Dangerous
Taemin was standing there and my eyes widened. “Ah Mianhae.” He said actually managing to put on an apologetic face. “I thought I recognized you. You’re Infinite’s leader, Sunggyu right?” he asked. Sunggyu nodded. “Ne. You’re Taemin-sshi. From Shinee.” Taemin smiled warmly nodding.
“I didn’t mean to interrupt but I saw some paparazzi nearby and it would be bad for you image if this was caught in a photo.
Sunggyu looked at me and I stood up. “Well then we should go. Thank you for the tip oppa.” I bowed my head slightly I saw Taemin’s lip twitch in one corner like he was forcing himself not to enjoy this.
“It was nice to see you sunbae.” Sunggyu shook Taemin’s hand and I grabbed Sunggyu’s arm and we walked away.
“Do you know sunbae too?” Sunggyu asked. “Uh, no.” I smiled. “But I guess I’m starstruck. Shinee is pretty famous.” I said. “Ah and you don’t know anything about Infinite.” He teased. “I get it.”
I stared at him surprised he would actually tease me. “Ani! I know that you guys dance in sync really well and all of you are kind hearted people.”
His smiled faltered for a split second but I caught it. So he had the same thoughts as me. Assassins were never associated with the phrase kind hearted. I fumed a bit inside. Taeminnie just stuck his neck where it didn’t belong. I didn’t know why I was mad he showed up but I was going to grab the front of his shirt next time and find our his problem when I saw him again or I wouldn’t be named Minji.
“Mianhe.” Sunggyu said before we got back to the dorm. “Ah….” I said looking at the ground. I was sighing internally for making things more complicated. “You don’t have to be sorry.” I said. “Your still my Sunggyu oppa.” I said and he smiled and we went back in.
“Ah hyung! Where is my ice cream?” Sungjong whined when we got back. “In the store, sungjong-ah.” He chuckled.
“Did you guys have fun?” Pan ni asked. “Ne.” we both replied at the same time and looked at each other.
“Ah I’m going to wash the dishes that are piling up.” I said and took off my sweater and rolled up my sleeves. “I’ll help you dry.” Sungyeol said taking my first washed plate.
“Ah, G-gomawo.” I smiled.
“Eodi…Sunggyu hyung…” Sungyeol suddenly said and I looked at him. He looked kind of sad even though he was smiling. “Patbingsoo…swings.” I said hesitantly, watching his expression. “Ah…” he said softly.
“Kohpi, johahae yo?” I asked suddenly. Then he finally smiled for real. “Ne. I need a cup every morning because I’m manly.” He said playfully. “I like coffee too.” I smiled and that brightened him up.
“I don’t get a lot of lines when we sing.” He said softly. “My part in one of our songs is do you hear me, and another song is why why.” He said. I didn’t know why he was telling me this but I felt so sad to hear that he was feeling this way. When he reached into the clean water to grab another plate I grabbed his hand underwater and he was startled. “I bet you do your parts with a lot of effort and people can feel that.” I said looking up at him slowly because he was so tall.
He smiled. “Kamsamhamida.” He said and I let go of his hand. “You will always be a valued member. Don’t ever look down on yourself.” I said remembering how he was holding his shoulder, and the blood pouring through his fingertips. I wanted to ask if he was okay from that but it seemed like he was doing well.
Suddenly he was behind me and he gave me a backhug. I stiffened but I patted his hand gently. “You’re welcome.” I smiled and then something cool touched the base of my throat. It was Sungyeol’s infinite necklace. “Because even though we haven’t known you long, you give us infinite strength.” He smiled. “Ah eotokke, that sounds weird. Please don’t misunderstand…” he said embarrassed. I shook my head. “Ani.” I said and we finished up with the dishes.
