“Are you sure your mom will be alright?”

Chorong frowned to see Woohyun’s jaw agape staring at her. She sighed desperately and patted his cheek softly while nodding her head, “Yeah, she’ll be okay as long as you’re with me not some random guys.”

“But this is a two days one night camping, Chorong, I didn’t know if your mother will be okay.” Woohyun retorted back on their way back from school to Chorong’s house to get her some camping things they’re going to use, “And I surely didn’t want to cause you defying your mother.”

Woohyun liked natures, which are why he was going to camp this weekend with his mother. And Chorong, she felt that she needed to come with him and his mother for the two days one night camping trip. She wanted to feel what it feels to blend with the nature like how Woohyun always bragging her. Ever since he saw her breakdown, in a fast-paced, Woohyun become her only best friend a girl could ever ask for. Woohyun is a real gentleman who always thinking about her feeling first. He treated her like she was made from glass that makes her feel special.

They used to spend their weekend with some get-together just the two of them at some parks, once again because Woohyun loved natures. But this weekend, Woohyun was going to have some camping trip with his mother which he always had monthly. It was like their monthly routine; his mother would take him out for a camping trip because that was her only channel for relieving some stress from eight hours work at sleek-suited corporate.

“My mom will be alright, it’s only two days one night, not a big deal.” Chorong replied as they finally come closer to her house’s area then they stopped when they saw the moving truck parked wasn’t that far from her house. She frowned and gripped Woohyun’s arm, “Huh? What’s with the moving truck? Is there any new neighbour or something?”

Woohyun could only shrug and followed Chorong who was still gripping his hands tightly as if she was sensing something not right. Once they neared her house, Chorong’s eyes widened to see the people from moving company carrying huge carton boxes back-forth from house to the truck. And Woohyun was also the same; he saw the whole things happened in front of them ridiculous. There were no talks about Chorong moving out or something like that. “W-what this is all about? Are you moving, Chorong?”

Chorong’s already paled could only shook her head and stopped right in front of the man that still carrying one of the box, “A-ahjussi, w-w-what are you doing?” She stuttered, surely it made her nervous. Her mother never mentioned anything about moving out or whatever she called yet the moving company helped her mother carrying the things out from their house.

“We’re only hired helps, Miss.” He answered politely, “Surely the madam inside had something to tell. Excuse me, I gotta keep going.” He bowed then walked away toward the truck.

She shifted her head around then faces Woohyun who was still holding her hand tightly, “What’s it all about, Woohyun?” She questioned him, still with her confused look and paled expressions. She didn’t know what happened right now but all the moving helpers already move their asses as fast as possible, loading many boxes and furniture inside truck.

Woohyun sighed then cupped her cheek gently, “Let’s come inside and ask your mother. Clearly you didn’t know anything. You’re still reeling from the school and now poof, it’s all happened in hurry so we gotta go and ask her.”

Chorong nodded her head as Woohyun led them to her house. As they came inside, she couldn’t help but let out gasps to see the almost empty house without furniture at all. She let go off her grips from Woohyun’s hand and walked toward her room which she found as ridiculous as it was. The room where she usually used to hide already empty, there was no bed, no wardrobe, no vanity and nothing. Her things were already missing, totally different from this morning when she left the house for school. Surely her mother worked on fast-paced speed to wrap everything on time.

She groaned in frustration and turned her heels around toward her mother’s room, where she found her still packing some boxes, and her bed was still there, “What’s going on in here, Mom?”

Her mother raised her head then stared at her for a while before she went back to packing her things, “As you can see, we’re moving out of here.”

“Moving out...?” Chorong tried to look and sound as calm as she could even though she was ready to explode, “What are you talking about? Why all of sudden? And does father knows already? I mean, this morning when I went to school, everything’s still on its place and now when I’m back, everything already vanished.”

“Yes, we’re moving out from here, we’re going to stay at your grandmother’s for a while until I get everything ready for us to settle permanently,” She replied nonchalantly, still busy with her things, “Yes, your father already know about our moving out of this house, in fact that we’re getting divorce and I already settle down with your school and your transfer to your new high school.”

“What?!” Chorong shrieked as she paced forward, closing their gap, “What do you mean by divorce? And what do you mean about me transfer to new high school? What are you doing? Don’t you know that it was the time I finally enjoyed my life in here and now you forced me out without even talk to me first? What do you think, Mother?”

Her mother sighed desperately and stopped her hands movement to see Chorong’s flushed face. Not only angry, but hatred was all written all over her beautiful face which made her heart clenched painfully. After everything she’d been through, her mother didn’t even gave a about whatever turmoil she suffered inside. Witnessing her parent’s fights for time to time and secluded her heart, chase the warmness out because merely, she was afraid to put hope inside her heart, she afraid that maybe someday someone’s going to break it the way her parent did.

Not until she let Woohyun break those guarded walls, not until she let Woohyun teach her what it feels to be loved, to have someone by your sides, to be finally seen what beauty the warmness is and sunshine could affect your life. Chorong just didn’t want to see it go; she just didn’t want to be apart from the only one she cared the most in her life. She felt like she was being robbed, stolen and taken away from her only happiness.

“What I mean...is that me and your father are getting divorce,” Her mother finally talked after heaving a deep breath. Chorong could see her mother’s red and swollen eyes, clearly she was crying, “We just can’t continue our marriage life, how much I tried to make this work, and it was just useless.”

“But you said you want to try it out, you want to make your marriage life works.”

Her mother shook her head as tears finally threatened to fall, “I thought we were on the same boat, but your father just proved me once again that he didn’t even want to mend our broken marriage, work it out for you, only you but he just didn’t want it anymore.”

Chorong gasped, she bit her lips as her heart started to clench with so many emotions inside. Yet once again, her father denied her, “W-what do you mean...? I-I-I didn’t understand it at all...”

“Your father is having an affair with his new secretary,” Her mother talked while wiped the tears off her eyes, “The last time I caught them, they were kissing, and last night, I caught him stripping each other clothes at his office. It’s been the third time I caught your father betrayed me. The first time when you were still in elementary school, he caught had an affair with his colleague from work, I confronted him and he begged me forgiveness, he wanted to start afresh, he promised me he won’t cheat on me again but the second time I caught him, he was lips-locking with his new secretary and last night, that was the peak out of all. I just can’t handle it anymore, sweetheart, I need to move out, and I need to move on with my life. I had to keep you safe.”

“B-but I thought....” Chorong swallowed hard, trying to maintain her composure, “But I thought you love him... You love him that you want him to be with us, to be your husband, to be my father...”

Her mother’s tears fell once again as she arched her arms to cup Chorong’s face, “Oh, sweetheart, even though I love him so bad, even though I want him to be with us, to be your father, he just not love us enough. He chose to be with someone else rather than be with us, he chose to be that man rather than be your father.” Her mother went closer as their forehead touched and she kissed the tip of her nose. Chorong couldn’t help but crying as well, “I really am sorry, sweetheart, I tried... I tried my best to make him stay, I tried my best for you, but he just chose his own way... I really am sorry for you to have him as your father...”

Chorong could only nod her head as tears kept falling down. Her mother went into hysteric mode and hugged her tightly. She was scowling, brawling and kept apologizing. On the other hand, Chorong couldn’t feel anything but kept crying as the newfound fact she learned today not only crush her heart but also her faith on her father. And from now on, she could tell people that she didn’t have father anymore. Whatever they might say, it wouldn’t affect her any longer.

She closed her eyes and patted her mother’s back softly, “It’s okay mom, I’m okay, and we’re going to be okay.” She heaved a sigh and opened her eyes to see Woohyun standing at the door, staring at them with such agony in eyes. All she could think was how long he’d listen to them talking? She wiped her eyes, still eyes-locking with Woohyun then released her mother. Her mother wiped the tears off her face then heaved a deep sigh.

“I’m sorry for not telling you for all these years about your father infidelity, but you have to believe me that whatever I did, I did it for you, and I just didn’t want you to get hurt.” Her mother talked again and Chorong could only nod her head, “That’s why I went through with the moving, I couldn’t live in here any longer, Chorong. Every side of this house just remind me of your father and I hate it. I want us to have a better life, sweetheart, that’s why I rushing our mov—“

“But I can’t just move out, mother.” Chorong cut her mother while kept shifting her ga
