Minho was scrubbing himself clean after being in the operation theatre for almost four hours. The operation went well and he was very satisfied with the outcome. The young boy was a victim of a hit and run accident. He came in with a broken arm and two fractured ribs. The broken arm was not so severe but the fractured ribs were. He had to surgically remove some tiny broken pieces of the bones before they puncture any of the boy’s vital organs. Luckily there were no internal bleeding and he had successfully fixed the broken ribs with titanium plates in order for a faster and less painful healing time.

Now he has to see the boy’s family to explain his condition.

“Can I have the patient’s file please?”

The nurse gave him the file and he flipped to look at the details.

Minho’s eyes went big as he read his patient’s info. His heart went still for awhile. Choi Sulli? Such a coincidence. He shook his head to clear his head.  The run-in with her a few weeks ago must have been in his mind still.

“OK. I’d liked to see the patient’s family and explain the situation. I am sure they are anxious to know about the boy’s condition”, he said to his assistant.

His assistant led him to the ICU ward where the boy, Choi Min Sul, was placed for recovery. As he got near the bed, he saw two familiar faces and his own face hardened. It was no coincidence.

Jonghun saw Minho walking towards them. He was already prepared to see him since he was told the younger man was the one who did the surgery on Min Sul. He looked down at the oblivious Sulli, whose only concern was her son. He didn’t tell her about Minho because she was too distraught to think straight. She fainted when she first heard about the accident.

“Mr. and Madam Choi, your son’s surgery went well. We have stabilized his ribs with titanium plates and the fractured bones were safely taken out. Luckily, his vital organs are safe and as soon as he wakes up, we will transfer him to a room” Minho explained in a business-like manner.

Sulli froze when she heard the sound of his voice. She heard him explaining about her son but she was too afraid to turn around and look at him. But she heard him address her and Jonghun as husband and wife. So he assumed that she was married to her cousin. Sulli just kept quiet as Jonghun also did not attempt to correct him.

After briefly explaining the situation Minho took his leave. His face was expressionless but his inside was chaotic. So Sulli married her cousin and the boy was their son and the thought replayed over and over in his mind. He was lucky that there was no other surgery for the night because he really needed to sit down and clear his mind. He went into his office and sat in the dark room.

Only when he sat down, he let himself thought about how she looked like. She has become a very beautiful woman. Her soft brown hair was halfway to her back. Her milky white skin looked pale under stress and her eyes were swollen from crying, he was sure about that. But he couldn’t erase the image of seeing her with Jonghun together.

He didn’t realize, he was clenching his jaws hard till they hurt. A habit when he felt frustrated. Her face was a face that he tried to forget and after several years of trying, she eventually became a vague image of his first love. But now, a fresh imprint of her face is in his mind and the thought that she was on the same floor as he was now was slowly driving him crazy. He wanted to see her again but the wound of her rejection that he thought was healed now broke open, bleeding. His heart was hurting and he realized that he still has feelings for her and he hated her for making him felt that way. Not when she was someone else’s woman.
