The Girl Who Wants DeathSunhi’s POV
It’s been a month since the school year started. Things aren’t better. But things aren’t worse. Actually, I’m gonna stop this denial thing and say that things are slowly, very slowly, getting better. Sulli introduced me to her friends, Luna, Amber, Song Qian (a.k.a. Victoria) and Jung Soojung (a.k.a. Krystal). All of them had very different personalities, but I was surprised that none of them seemed to dislike me in the slightest. And I hope you don’t think I’m just assuming this because you think I’m naïve.
I hadn’t talked to Kai and Sehun again. In fact, I don’t really talk to any guys. I’ve already got a cold reputation, so none of them want to come talk to me. Sehun gives me the occasional smile, but we don’t talk at all. Sometimes I catch Kai looking at me, but he turns away quickly.
Everyday, I go to the dance studio after school. Sometimes, there’s a huge group of boys dancing, so I just go and sit by the tree that I sat by on the second day of school. I just do homework there… and the occasional deep thinking. Krystal or Amber usually find me when I’m there and hang out. They don’t ask where I go when I’m not there, though. I guess that’s the plus. They respect me and don’t bug me about things if I don’t wanna talk.
But if it’s just the one guy who’s dancing, I stay in the dance studio to watch. I know it’s him every time because there’s always that same duffel bag on the floor, and though his stature isn't easy to recognize, his practice clothes always seem to be of the same style. But I’ve never seen his face. My mom is always there to pick me up right before he finishes.
“Sunhi! I can’t stay after school today! My sister’s just come home from studying abroad. And Amber’s got that rapping contest…” Krystal’s usually small smile was replaced by a small frown. “I’ll make it up to you tomorrow though!”
I shook my head. “It’s fine. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
She looked at me for any signs of disappointment, but since I didn’t show any, she nodded and gave her small smile. “Bye!”
I waved as she waved back, walking towards the front of the school.
But not even ten minutes later, I felt someone pull on my bag, dragging me behind a building.
“Hey.”
Three girls stood in front of me, all of them with their arms crossed. They were fairly taller than me, glares on their faces.
“Choi Sunhi… new transfer, huh? The little porcelain doll.” The tallest girl unfolded her arms and walked around me, pulling down my bag and causing it to crash to the floor, heavy books, papers, and pencils falling out as it tipped onto its side.
I sighed, just standing there. So now the bullying begins. But… why would they want to bully me? I haven’t done anything weird.
“Isn’t she like Suho’s type?” Another girl walked closer to me, picking up a strand of my hair.
“Long, straight hair. Do you like to read?”
I didn’t answer.
“That’s a yes. What are we gonna do about her?”
Another girl tsked, shaking her head. “Good thing Suho doesn’t have classes with her. He probably hasn’t even met her yet.”
So… they're bullying me… because I’m this Suho guy’s ideal type? But he hasn’t even seen me before, or at least I don't think he has. Crazy girls.
“If you’re only going to ask questions, we can do this tomorrow,” I said, kneeling down to pick up my things.
One of them kicked me away, hitting my shoulder and causing me to fall back. Another foot made contact, throwing me forward and onto my knees.
Hey, wouldn’t it be great if I died this way? Behind the school building at the hands of three, freaky, jealous girls? Might as well. I mean, this pain feels a lot easier to withstand than a razor blade. And even if it takes a while, it won’t take as long as bleeding out... probably. Dunno. But at least I know that some superior being out there wants me dead right now. Otherwise, I wouldn’t really be suffering this.
They kept beating at me, with fists and feet, continuously raining punches and kicks down on me. At some point, I think I felt blood coming from my mouth, spilling over my lip and down my chin.
“Hey! What are you guys doing?”
“! Hurry, run around the other way!”
Why did the punches stop? I was so close. Damn.
I sighed, but winced. Well, that hurt. I reached up and wiped the blood from my chin and mouth, trying to sit up against the wall.
Mom… why did you have to give me such pale colored clothes? Now there’s some blood and a ton of dirt all over that’s probably not going to wash off easily.
A tall guy with black, short hair walked towards me. He looked at me and sighed. “I’m surprised you’re even conscious. Can you stand up?”
I pushed myself up, wincing and leaning up against the wall.
“I’ll take you to the nurse,” he muttered, basically lifting me up. He was a lot taller than I originally thought.
“I’m Wu Yifan. Call me Kris.” His voice was quiet. Probably didn’t like talking much.
“Choi Sunhi.”
He nodded. “Not the best conditions to meet in. You’re Victoria’s friend right?”
“Ah.”
“She’s my cousin. She’s told me about you a bit.”
“Oh.”
“Victoria even said you don’t talk much.” He smiled just a bit. It was barely noticeable. “So, how’d you end up with those girls back there?”
“Just pulled me there.”
“And you didn’t fight back?”
I shook my head.
“You one of those no violence people?”
No violence supporters? Eh, why not?
I nodded once.
“No offence, but it’s pretty stupid. Could’ve gotten a few bones broken, maybe even killed if they were strong enough.”
“Then they’d go to jail, huh?”
He nodded.
“But not if it was assisted suicide, right?” I muttered so quietly that I doubted Kris could even hear.
We got to the nurse’s office and he helped me to one of the beds, getting the nurse to check out if I was too hurt.
“I’ve gotta go to a dance practice, but it was nice meeting you… Sorry about what happened though.” He gave his barely-there smile and waved. I barely waved back before he was already gone.
I wish I hadn’t met him. Because if I didn’t, I could’ve died. But he seems nice enough. Maybe one day I’ll tell him that he saved someone from committing suicide with the help of others.
Kai’s POV
“Hey, you’re late again, Kris!” said Lay, glaring.
“I was helping out some girl that was getting beat up. Give me a break,” he muttered, going to get changed.
“Again? How many times has this happened? Six? And everyone time you help one of them, you said they would squeal and pass out ‘cause you were carrying them,” said Tao, laughing.
“This one didn’t.” Kris was a damn fast changer. “She’s one of Victoria’s friends. Probably doesn’t really care much about EXO. Didn’t know who I was.”
“Really? Was it Luna or one of the girls?” asked Chanyeol.
“No, she’s a new student. Name’s Sunhi.”
“Kai and I met her. She’s in our homeroom,” said Sehun quietly.
“Why’d she get beat up?”
“Probably because she fits Suho’s fake ideal type pretty close,” replied Kris, beginning to stretch.
We all spread rumors of our ideal types, only, we made them pretty fake. It helped in a way.
“Only a month's passed since school started, though,” commented Suho.
“Those girls work fast. Are we dancing or not?” asked Kris, standing up straight.
“We are! If everyone would just stop talking, we could learn this routine fast so you can all go home earlier today,” said Lay, muttering the last part. “Always complain that we stay too long.”
Chen and Xiumin just laughed at Lay’s outburst, causing Lay to glare at them, creating a silence.
Sunhi… There’s a part of me that says not to care. But there’s another part that’s just barely worried. I tried to shake it off the entire rehearsal, but I couldn’t, and Lay sighed half way through the practice, telling me to take a break.
Was this boring :/ ? I'm so sorry if it was T.T!
