“Oppa,” Maggie called out as she limped into Taemin’s shared room. The maknae stood up from his seat to help her. She had probably abandoned her crutches in the living room. He guided her toward his bed and helped her sit down. Maggie knew they wouldn’t have Key translating for them, so this was going to be even harder. Maggie patted the space next to her to tell Taemin to sit down. He complied. Maggie grabbed Taemin’s hand and looked up into his eyes.
“Oppa, I’m sorry,” she started.
Taemin looked confused. “Why? What’s wrong?”
“I’m going back to Hawaii for college,”Maggie explained.
Taemin was still confused. Maggie looked around the room. Maybe there was something to help her translate. She spotted Taemin’s laptop and smiled. She carefully got off the bed and retrieved the laptop. Going onto the university’s website, Maggie passed the laptop to Taemin. She pointed to herself and then to the image of the campus. Taemin seemed to understand. He frowned and set his laptop to the side.
“Why?” he asked. Maggie knew neither of them was fluent enough in each other’s language to discuss her reasons. She reached into her jacket pocket and pulled out a small envelope. She gave the letter to Taemin and he opened it. He frowned to see that it was all in English. He started to get up to go to get Key, but Maggie stopped him. She had a feeling Key didn’t want to be bothered at the moment. She placed the letter back into the envelope and set it aside. She pulled Taemin to her and made him lie down. She lay down next to him and snuggled into his chest.
“I’m sorry, oppa.”
Taemin could hear her voice breaking. He wrapped his arms around her in comfort. “Don’t cry. It’s okay.” The two of them eventually fell asleep in each other’s arms.
Taemin woke up the next day and carefully untangled himself from Maggie. He got out of bed, picked up the letter, and went to find Key. Taemin found his umma making breakfast in the living room.
“Key-umma, can you translate something for me?”
Key looked up from the stove and said, “Sure, Taeminnie.”
He adjusted the stove’s setting and sat down at the dining table. Taemin sat opposite of Key. He gave him the letter, and Key started to translate.
Dear Taemin-oppa,
When you read this letter, then I will have already told you that I want to go to college back home. This is hard for me Taemin-oppa. I am only a fan, and I’m nobody special. I am incredibly happy to have met you, to have met everyone. It really is a dream come true for me. The fact that you and I have feelings for one another just makes this dream so much better. But, oppa, do we really like each other? I know you think my question is ridiculous, but it’s not. Think about it oppa. Sure, people with mutual feelings dating would make sense and I have no problems with that. The part that makes me hesitate is staying here in Korea to see if what we have between us will work out. Everyone says that only time will tell if two people are meant for each other, and I believe that oppa. I just don’t have that kind of time right now. I would love to stay here to get to know you better and spend more time with you, but I can’t. This is an important time for me oppa. I am starting college. I am going to get the education I need for a future career. I cannot uproot my life in Hawaii and attend college here for you. That is too big of a decision and we haven’t known each other that long. What if we don’t work out? Then what am I going to do in Korea? Oppa, if I stay, it will be for you, but if we break up, then why am I here? I will be so lonely here and I will be here without a purpose. I cannot deal with that oppa. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.
I want to see if we will last and if what we feel for each other will grow, just like you do. Can we do it even if we’re separated? A long-distance relationship is also a lot to ask of you, but can we try? It will only be for a couple of years and I will come back to visit during breaks. Can we please try?
~Maggie
Key looked up from the letter and looked at his son. He was frowning and Key sighed. “Taemin-ah.”
Taemin cut him off. “I don’t want her to go…but I have to let her go, don’t I?”
Key nodded. “This is hard for her too, Taemin-ah. It’s not like you won’t be able to talk to her though. This is important to her, Taemin. She wants to try. She wants to know that it’ll be worth it to leave Hawaii, her home, for you someday.”
Taemin looked up, startled.
Key smiled. “She’ll stay, Taeminnie. Not now, but she will. Just prove to her it’s worth it.”
Taemin was quiet for a while before he sighed. “I know she’s right…but, I’m going to miss her so much.”
Key patted his son’s shoulder. “And she’ll miss you. You two can do this.”
Weeeee! Two chapters in one day! Seriously, this a new record for me ^o^ ...sad isn't it? lol. Anyway moving on! As you can see, this chapter was Taemin x Maggie centered. I am almost finished with JongKey in this story (ToT) so I am working on wrapping up Taemin x Maggie. I know that it seems I am ending JongKey lamely and with much to be desired, but don't worry. There is 1-2 more chapters before the epilogue and the epilogue will finally tie up the two couples.
OKAY! Away from the sad and serios stuff! The letter was a b**ch to write...It was hard to convey what Maggie was feeling. I hope some of you can understand it anyway >x<
Also, did anyone notice the innuendo about JongKey in there? XD I may not be able to write this kind of scene, but I can imply it as many times as I want :P OH! That reminds me, the last scene of chapter 26, yeah, if I could write a rated scene, I would've lol, but you know what they're gonna do ;D
...oh sh*t. I need a title. D*mn it...okay give me two minutes.
