Willpower

One path to Heaven

Seungri had escaped the two boys a little later, excusing himself by saying he had to meet someone. It left the two boys in an awkward atmosphere, or at least that was what Jiyong thought. He could feel the tension in the air and it was gnawing at his bones. The feeling made him want to run away but he knew that would be ridiculous, it wasn’t like the other man was dangerous. The angel observed the taller frame silently brewing coffee in the kitchen from afar. He had to smile a little; Seunghyun had promised him that he would try to drink less beer and apparently coffee helped him clench that thirst.

The whole ride home had been silent between the two of them. Only Seungri’s chatting was loud enough to cover the awkwardness between them. Jiyong was still afraid of talking to Seunghyun using his voice and Seunghyun planned on using every method possible to make him do it. Steam rose from his cup as he took a sip, cringing slightly but enjoying the liquid nonetheless. While he drank he stared at the blonde, maybe a little too intently. Should I force it out of him maybe, pin him down on the sofa and torture him until he can’t stand it anymore? He shook his head at the too tempting thought and grimaced.

As Seunghyun went through various expressions Jiyong wondered if he was mad. He did avoid the man after all; he had all the right reasons to be angry at him. The way he was staring at him made him avoid his look and fix his eyes on an interesting spot on his pants. The taller man noticed a small blush on the angel’s face and grinned. Slowly he brought the cup with him over to the couch and sat down next to the angel, his face expressionless. Jiyong tensed but didn’t look up. He sighed slightly before he the television and leaned back into the pillows.

Suddenly Jiyong felt him grab his hand and he startled, looking at their intertwined hands with wide eyes. Familiar warmth shot through his body and he tried sitting still without trembling. He could feel his self-control slipping and tried focusing on the TV only, observing the pair of men locked in a fist fight. On the other hand Seunghyun was having a blast, humoring himself by drawing different reactions from the blonde. When he squeezed the hand he would bite his lower lip, when he rubbed his thumb over his knuckles Jiyong would inhale sharply and when he played with his fingers, the angel would relax again. Soon they were in comfortable silence again, both looking at the screen in front of them.

Jiyong felt like jelly and only wanted to melt into the couch when the other hand caressed his palm slowly. Goosebumps appeared on his arm and Seunghyun had to keep himself from laughing.

“Guess I found a sensitive spot, huh?” He teased. The angel blushed and shook his head, frowning at his hand as if it was betraying him. He didn’t want to admit how good it felt but it seemed like his body was betraying him and Seunghyun picked it up pretty quickly. Carefully he tried pulling his hand back but it was stuck in a firm grip that was intent on teasing him further. He gave the other a pleading look that could melt anyone’s heart but it didn’t have any effect on him.

The truth was that Jiyong could pull away if he really wanted to but Seunghyun was raking his fingers up and down his arms and all his willpower just disintegrated in a second. If this continued any longer Jiyong might have just offered his whole body willingly but he opted to leaning on his shoulder instead, body sparkling with electricity as Seunghyun massaged his fingers again. Soon enough their limbs were tangled together and Jiyong had his back against his chest in a comfortable embrace. About thirty minutes later he could feel soft, steady breathing in his hair and he knew the other man had fallen asleep despite the coffee he just had.

“Jiyong, do you want to come with me to work?” The angel was interrupted from his gleeful cheer at the television. Some guy had caught the murderer and Jiyong was rooting for him all along. Seunghyun mused while watching his different expressions in front of the screen.

Eagerly the angel nodded and scrambled for the remote, trying to switch off the TV but only managing to change the channel. He earned a raised eyebrow before the other man walked over and snatched the remote from him. No matter how many times Seunghyun tried to teach him the ways of the TV it didn’t seem to stick in his brain, so he’d just given up. It was kind of endearing to watch so he let it go.

Seunghyun grabbed his keys and walked to the door, the angel following him obediently. He ushered him to the car which he was a little reluctant in entering without him and locked the door. It looked like Jiyong was still a little afraid of the car and he couldn’t help but smirk. The angel huffed, slightly embarrassed but didn’t enter nonetheless, not before Seunghyun did.

When they arrived at the office the blonde was in awe at how big it was. Surely it was much bigger than the supermarket they visited and he almost fell backwards while craning his neck to see the end of the skyscraper. Seunghyun decided to humor him for a minute and let him stare wide eyed at everything while they walked slowly through the corridors.

“Please Jiyong, act normal and not too surprised at… everything.” He sighed, slightly worried that he might do something stupid. The exaggerated nod he got in return didn’t comfort him much but he pushed his worry away and entered an elevator. The moment it started to move, the blonde latched onto his arm, face going paler than ever just like when they were in the car. Not surprisingly he was the first who bolted out of the elevator the moment it stopped at their floor. Luckily he quickly changed from scared to curious again and Seunghyun felt old while observing his mood diversities.

Jiyong looked at the rows of white walls and the hardworking people behind them, clicking away on what looked like mini TV’s. He wanted to try one too but restrained himself and made a mental note to ask the other man later.

“Seunghyun, I’m glad you’re here!” A cheerful voice appeared, startling them both. “Can you take this down to marketing?” It was a tall man, about the same height as Seunghyun but a little broader. He had brown hair that was short in the back but long at the front and it was styled perfectly. Seeing the two men in suits next to each other gave Jiyong mixed feelings. They both looked really good but he was mostly focused on Seunghyun and how the suit was perfectly tailored for him.

“Hey, who’s this? Your friend? He’s cute.”

“Shut up, Dongwook.” Seunghyun glared at him before pulling Jiyong closer. “Jiyong this is Choi Dongwook, my boss.” The man stretched his hand out and he shook it in return, smiling brightly. He wanted nothing more than to be on the good side of Seunghyun’s friends and it seemed easy to talk to this man. They shook hands for a moment before he spoke again.

“Jiyong is it? Are you taking care of Seunghyun?” The angels smile dropped for a second, surprise showing on his face before he quickly held it in. Did this man know about angels? He decided to push the thought away, it was probably just him being friendly. He nodded with a smile to answer, letting go of his hand and stepping back.

“As if, I’m taking care of him.” Seunghyun scoffed and grabbed the documents in Dongwook’s hands. “He’s mute so be nice to him. I’ll go down with these papers, watch Jiyong for a minute will you?” He walked away and Jiyong waved after him, feeling something drop in his chest.

“He’s treating me like this even though I’m his boss, strange right?” Dongwook clicked his tongue before chuckling lightly and leading Jiyong into the office and to a vacant space. “I only keep the people that can do their job properly and Seunghyun is one of them. However lately I’ve been disappointed in his attitude.” He frowned and Jiyong listened intently, wanting to find a way to convince him otherwise. “Usually I fire people without thinking twice but he’s a good friend so I’m giving him one more chance, I just hope he’ll take it.”

The last words made something stir inside Jiyong and he quickly grabbed Dongwook’s hand and squeezed it firmly, trying to convey that yes, Seunghyun would gladly accept the second chance and he would do his best. Because the angel had faith in him and knew that he wouldn’t disappoint. The other man became silent for a minute before he stood up with a smile and pulled Jiyong along.

“Let’s go to my office while we wait.” Dongwook’s office was separated from the others in a bigger room, still as white as everything else but more personal. He went to lean on the desk while Jiyong studied the room with his eyes, still in awe. When the other man cleared his throat he snapped out of it and focused on him again. He approached him with a gentle smile and sat down on the chair in front of the desk.

“I know you can’t talk but can you write for me? I want to know more about you.” Jiyong was bewildered now. He couldn’t write properly in their language, just some words that probably wouldn’t make any sense to him. Even so he politely accepted the pen and paper he received with a shaky smile which Dongwook returned.

“Alright then,” he smiled. “Where are you from? What made you visit Seunghyun?” The blonde had to think for a minute, wondering what to write. Something told him that drawing wouldn’t quite work the same way as it did with Seunghyun. Luckily he managed to write America and Dongwook changed the subject.

“Oh you can’t write, really? I don’t know much English so I guess drawing is fine.” He chuckled lightly, filling Jiyong with some confidence as well. He smiled back and failed to notice how Dongwook had moved closer and closer until Seunghyun walked through the door a while later and the other man shot back like an arrow.

When Jiyong’s blinding smile hit his vision he melted inside and resisted the urge to pounce on him. However when he saw Dongwook fidgeting he narrowed his eyes and eyed him suspiciously before trudging over and pulling the angel up. He saw the scattered papers on the desk and the familiar drawings Jiyong usually made and a pang of jealousy shot through him.

“You’ve been talking I see,” Seunghyun muttered.

“Yeah, Jiyong is very likeable. Bring him again some time.” Dongwook grinned and winked at Jiyong who blushed slightly. Seunghyun scoffed again and walked outside with the angel in tow. They settled at his small work space and Jiyong curiously looked through his papers, unable to understand anything.

“Here, play with this.” He handed him his laptop and busied himself in paperwork instead. He couldn’t help but laugh when the angel poked his shoulder timidly and asked for help. With an exaggerated roll of his eyes he helped Jiyong start a game which luckily kept him occupied for a couple of hours.  Whenever he heard the silent laugh next to him he smiled to himself, warmth bubbling in his chest. Since they were covered by a tall, white wall he concluded it was safe enough to tease Jiyong a bit. Quickly he leant forward and planted a kiss on his cheek, waiting for a reaction.

Surprisingly the blonde didn’t react, he just smiled, completely immersed in the game. He frowned and did it again, seeing this time Jiyong stiffened quickly which satisfied him. The angel valiantly tried to continue playing but it was harder than before now that Seunghyun had lowered himself to his neck and pressed butterfly kisses all over his skin. It felt good, he had to close his eyes and let the sensation wash through him. Unconsciously he tilted his head to the side, giving the other man more skin to explore. The angel was breathing heavily and Seunghyun for the first time felt a little relieved that Jiyong was mute, preventing his moans from spilling through the office.

“Please Jiyong, can’t you talk to me?” The dark voice was spoken into his neck before his lips brushed along his skin and up to his ear, breathing warm air that sent shivers down the angel’s neck. Even so he couldn’t bring himself to pull away because he simply didn’t want to. “I want to hear your voice so bad.” When it seemed like the blonde had been tortured enough he pulled away and returned to his paperwork, leaving Jiyong flustered and out of breath. The places where Seunghyun had touched him were burning and he was fighting an inner battle with himself. His body was screaming for him to just give in to his request but the more rational part of his conscious was still in charge.

Nothing more happened after that, Jiyong quickly immersed himself in the game again while trying not to think too much and Seunghyun tried to finish his work quickly. Dongwook sauntered over with a coke that he gave to the angel. He politely accepted but offered it to Seunghyun after he had left. He felt a little bad but he just couldn’t drink soft drinks, it was too difficult and distasteful. The other man however downed it quickly and glared at Dongwook’s office door, a sour taste in his mouth. Seunghyun was positive the man was hitting on Jiyong; he would never be that nice to anyone unless he was trying to get them in bed with him. He knew Dongwook as the man who fooled around with everyone as a good friend and a playful boss but he never crossed the line by becoming too close with them. He certainly would never pull a stranger into his office or offer him beverage.

Jiyong watched him crush the can and gulped, wondering if something had upset him. He pulled the can out of his grasp, preventing him from hurting his hand and smiled at him curiously.

“Stay away from Dongwook,” Seunghyun said promptly and started packing his belongings. “He’s bad for you.” Truth was he didn’t have any reason to ask the angel to steer clear from him. Even so he wouldn’t let Jiyong fall for a man like that. A man that wasn’t him.

The blonde didn’t understand, was Dongwook a bad man? He might have been since Seunghyun was saying he was but he couldn’t just avoid the man because of that. If he wanted to be on good terms with his friends it would be silly to avoid him.

“Jiyong!” Dongwook called after him before they entered the elevator. Jiyong turned around briskly while Seunghyun went inside. “Here’s my card, call me if you need anything.” He winked and the angel nodded eagerly before waving goodbye with a grin. He quickly put the card in his front pocket before the other man noticed.

“What, what did he want?” Seunghyun frowned. Jiyong simply waved his hand, trying to convey that he wanted to bid him farewell. He didn’t like lying to the man but based on the words he spoke earlier he would probably be upset if he knew Jiyong accepted the card from him.

The angel grabbed his hand and squeezed firmly as if to apologize for what he did. He stared straight forward with a determined expression and tried to convince himself that it was for the better. What he didn’t notice was Seunghyun’s startled expression that faded after a few seconds before curiosity hit him.

“Is something the matter?” He wondered if he had a reason to be concerned or if this was the usual naïve Jiyong holding his hand. Either way he shifted slightly, feeling warm at the contact and resisted the craving he had to touch the blonde every second of the day. Their shoulders bumped together playfully and he could feel the smaller frame lean on him. Jiyong shook his head firmly and looked at him, wondering how he would be able to keep the secret from him. Being unable to speak was suddenly a great advantage to him.

However he did have one big problem now.

How was he supposed to be able to read the note?

To be continued...
