Lost

One path to Heaven

Sometime during the night, after crying too much, Jiyong had managed to make Seungri promise to not tell Seunghyun however mean it was to the other man. In the beginning the younger man was a bit angry, meaning it was unfair and everyone had the right to know. But Jiyong made a compromise with him; he would tell Seunghyun himself. That somehow settled him down and he managed to get him to worry less. His pain was lulled for now and when Seungri was reassured that it wasn’t hurting anymore he managed to say goodnight. Meanwhile he laid down on the couch again, Jiyong snuck back into the bedroom, under the sheets and back into Seunghyun’s comforting embrace. As if he was awake, his arms automatically cradled him closer when the angel snuggled next to him. A surprised gasp escaped his lips before he smiled into the warm chest, thinking about how lucky he was.

When Seunghyun woke a few hours later, he groaned and immediately tried going back to sleep, fatigue holding his body down from the long night. A few minutes passed before he registered the blonde mop of hair that poked his chin and he slowly started recovering his senses and surroundings. Jiyong shifted in his arms and stretched, the smile directed at him making impossible to not smile back. Suddenly he felt two thin arms slide up his torso to circle around his neck and the angel’s warm breath and lips on his skin. Jiyong hugged him tightly and hid his face in the crook of his neck, feeling safe and content just laying like that when Seunghyun embraced him back, a bit confused but compliant anyway.

Seunghyun honestly didn’t know if anything was wrong or not, but he decided to not ruin the moment by asking. It felt too amazing to hold the smaller blonde like this and the thought of separating from the angel frightened him. The room was quiet except for their slow breathing and the room was filled with sunlight piercing through the blinds.

It was clear now, through their bond that their emotions were all over the place. They could both feel it but neither questioned it. Seunghyun trusted the angel after all this time, finding it impossible to even think that he might be making a fool of him. Jiyong in turn felt too much for the other man, so much that the thought of living on without him would’ve made him cry instantly. So they didn’t say anything, they lay in silence for what seemed an eternity. However it was Jiyong who broke the silence in the end.

“They’re coming,” he simply said into Seunghyun’s neck, letting out a breath he didn’t realize he was holding. Yesterday he had been careful enough to set up a wide barrier which would make him feel when Park and his men crossed it. Because he could feel their malice stronger than anything it wasn’t difficult to pick up on who they were even this far out on the country. Slowly Seunghyun pushed them both up in a sitting position, Jiyong still clinging to his neck. They separated slowly and the angel smiled at him, trying to reassure him that their plan would work perfectly. In the end Seunghyun gave in with a peck on his lips and they stood to get dressed and wake Seungri.

It was impossible to ignore the meaningful look Seungri gave him after he had rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, but Jiyong just smiled back and ushered him to get properly dressed. The angel could feel Park rapidly moving towards the house and he needed to speed things up. He guessed they had about fifteen minutes until they came barging through the door and he wanted the two men out of danger by then.

“Please, Seunghyun, Seungri, go stay inside the bedroom before they can see you,” Jiyong held both their hands and looked at them seriously, knowing this was another kind of danger completely different from a demon he could easily banish.

“Are you sure about this?” The question was written on both their faces but Seunghyun was the one who voiced it out loud.

“Yes, don’t worry, it will be over quickly.” He nodded and followed them to the bedroom. When he left the room without looking back, Seunghyun hurried to the door and closed it almost all the way, leaving a tiny crack he could see through to know what was going on. Conveniently, Jiyong placed himself right before him so he could only see the angel and his slightly uncharacteristic serious expression.

Then the wait started. The angel closed his eyes and listened. The sounds of a car approaching the house, doors opening and slow, confident footsteps filled his ear. He stayed where he was, steeling himself for what was to come. A few more moments of silence passed before someone knocked on the door. Jiyong opened his blue eyes and looked straight at it, ready to surprise them when they entered.

“Seungri-yah, open the ing door!” Someone shouted from outside, the knocking turning into banging on the wood. As expected the door was shortly after kicked in and splinters fell on the floor as the lock was broken. Two men of medium height entered followed by a man about Jiyong’s size with long brown hair. They looked around the living room, annoyed expression on their faces.

“Who are you?” Only the smaller man had noticed Jiyong and the two other men, who carried their own gun, startled upon noticing his presence in the room. Of course, Jiyong was unable to answer them, leaving him to only glare at them defiantly.

“Hello?” The shorter man waved a hand at him, stepping closer. “Can you understand me?” he spit, sighing dramatically when there was still no answer from the blonde.

“Well, if you won’t answer then you can pass this message to Seungri,” he sneered and started walking in circles, showing off his confident demeanor. He spoke loudly, knowing fully well that Seungri still was in the house. “If he doesn’t come out of his hiding place right now, I’ll definitely find him right now and personally make him beg me to kill him.” The man’s voice escalated by the minute, anger evident. Jiyong winced slightly at the words.

“Love, Park.” He squared his shoulders and motioned for his two men to point their gun at Jiyong. The sudden action made him take a step backwards, slightly startled. Inside the bedroom Seunghyun was almost biting his own fist to resist running out there and save the angel. But he knew he didn’t stand a chance against three weapons, he just had to trust that the angel was much stronger than them altogether.

Jiyong could sense Park becoming angrier by the second but he was unprepared for the moment he snapped, clicking his tongue and personally pulling out his gun. He stepped forward quickly and fired a shot that went straight through Jiyong’s side.

The blonde stumbled backwards, eyes wide and with a shocked expression he looked down to see the blood running down his hip. Jiyong startled at the weird sensation of his own blood running down his legs and dripping to the floor. It left him stunned for a minute, a hand moving to feel the wound.

Unfortunately Seunghyun had screamed his name the moment it happened, easily giving away their hiding place and the two men quickly moved to pull them out of there, guns aimed at their foreheads.

“Jiyong!” Seunghyun shouted again as he worried about the wound. Jiyong couldn’t die, he couldn’t disappear, at least not this way. “You motherer!” He yelled at Park who only rolled his eyes before turning his attention towards Seungri.

“You’ve been causing me trouble, I thought we had a deal?” He nudged Seungri’s chin with the tip of his gun, glaring at him all the while. Seungri looked away, refusing to answer. Jiyong came to his senses then, seeing whatever happened in his side vision. The wound didn’t hurt, he didn’t feel pain but he could feel his body going numb and that would be a problem. He took a deep breath and started healing his damaged body. It was easy and he could breathe again when the bullet popped out of his wound and it closed itself.

“What the ?!” One of the men shrieked at him, diverting everyone’s attention towards the angel. “Freak! The wound closed itself!” Jiyong straightened himself as the man panicked, his gun shaking but still pointing directly at him. His hysteria didn’t shake the blonde though, he remained calm even when another bullet graced his neck, cutting his skin lightly. It was only when he looked over at Seunghyun and noticed the terrified look on his face that he decided it was enough. As if the angel moved in slow motion, he furrowed his brows, raised his palm and swiped it from left to right and with that one move he ended the whole thing. Seunghyun felt the grip on his neck loosen as the man fell down in front of him, followed quickly by the other two.

“W-what-” Seungri stuttered, breaking the stunned silence after a minute. He kneeled next to Park and studied his body. “They’re sleeping?” Seunghyun moved slowly as if not to wake them and made his way over to the blonde, holding his hand since he didn’t feel quite safe just yet. Jiyong noticed his hand trembling slightly and he looked up at the other man. Concerned about his nervousness he squeezed his hand again to gain his attention.

“Seunghyun, are you okay?” It definitely worked because the trembling stopped and the taller turned towards him and lifted his fingers up to touch his neck gingerly. The wound had closed but the blood was still there.

“You had me worried for a second there,” he smiled bitterly at the angel who looked at him with confusion on his beautiful features.  The blonde was happy that he was worried, so happy that he couldn’t help but grin and embrace him on the spot. Relief washed over him and Seunghyun tilted his head backwards as he let out an audible sigh.

“Um, what did you do to them?” Seungri carefully asked from across the room, ignoring their casual display of affection.

“I erased their memories, they will be asleep until I let them wake,” his words were told by Seunghyun so the other man could hear his answer. Jiyong couldn’t kill anyone, not only because he didn’t want to but because his powers would not let him. He knew that if he ever harmed another human it wouldn’t take long before he himself disappeared from the face of the earth. The punishment was severe for angels who broke the rules.

Not much time passed before they were back in the car, driving towards home with Seungri in his own separate car. Seunghyun yawned widely and Jiyong found it cute and couldn’t help but chuckle. He was still plastered to his arm though, still not accustomed to the vehicle. Their younger friend had thanked him a hundred times, bowing respectfully and promising him a favor anytime. When Jiyong told him he already is doing him a favor by keeping their secret he nodded and accepted his words.

They had a long road ahead of them until they were home and although everything seemed alright for Seunghyun, Jiyong could feel the pain in his chest rising. It was occurring more frequently now and he knew that his body going numb was not only because of his bullet wound earlier. He knew that his fate was unavoidable but he couldn’t let it happen yet, he refused to let anything happen yet. The angel was determined to endure until the end and he wanted to tell Seunghyun when they were back home, where he was comfortable. Although it was a selfish thought, he knew Seunghyun would be hurt by his words. He knew he wouldn’t like it and it was highly possible that he would try to find another way to keep Jiyong around. That was the biggest reason why Jiyong avoided telling him for this long but now that he could sense his time coming to an end, he didn’t have a choice but to tell. After all, Seungri was right; he was being unfair to everyone by leaving. Even though they wouldn’t remember him, he still had to say it. Seunghyun, most of all people, deserved to know the truth.

When they reached home, unpacked their bags and snuggled into the bed because Seunghyun didn’t feel like doing anything but sleep now that he knew Seungri was safe and everything was going back to normal, they relaxed. Jiyong settled into the familiar position against his chest, loving the familiar, comforting scent of his love. He inhaled slowly and braced himself for the inevitable, sound escaping his mouth as merely a whisper.

“I have to tell you something in the morning.” It took Seunghyun a few seconds to respond, voice a bit hesitant as if he knew he wouldn’t like what he was going to say.

“Okay.” They became quiet after that. Jiyong listened to the other man’s heartbeat and breathing even out and it was like beautiful music to his ears. He stopped himself from crying but something else happened that he couldn’t prevent.

The angel, for the first time, fell asleep.
