~Kiseop’s POV~

I was in the kitchen and got the ingredients and utensils I needed. The first dish is to make is Pancit. It’s our favorite filipino food. First, I check the cubed chicken from yesterday. It’s starting off very well. I left there and moved on to the next step. I soaked the rice noodles in warm water for about thirty minutes and drained it completely. And also drained and discarded the marinade of the chicken.

Now with the skillet, I heat one tablespoon of oil on medium-high heat and brown the chicken, drained, again, and set aside. Now with the large pot, I heated two tablespoons of oil with the same heat as the first one, but saute three cloves of minced garlic and accent for thirty seconds.

That’s when I added the carrots and stir it fry for five minutes or less. Next was the cabbage, onions and one tablespoon of soy sauce. Then stir fry until the vegetables are tender. Also, added the chicken and still stir frying. Lastly, added the noodles with one-eighth cup of oil and one-fourth cup of soy sauce and mix very well. As I watch until it was cook tenderly and thoroughly, I dumped into a big bowl and added slices of green onions and teaspoon of calamansi.

I washed the dishes and moved onto the california rolls. Since I also made the sushi rice and even prepare the sushi ingredients,I just have to make the roll today. But I checked if it didn’t go spoiled. Luckily, it didn’t.

I grabbed the bamboo sushi-roll with a cutting board under it, horizontally from me. Secondly, place a sheet of plastic wrap on top of the bamboo mat and then added the roasted-seaweed (Nori) on top of it. Thirdly, spread a thin layer a cup of the rice, I made yesterday, and leaving an inch of uncovered nori at the ends. Fourthly, arrange strips of avocado and cucumber along the center of the rice; top with crab meat. Lastly, here is the tricky part, rolling. I took a breath in and out and begin rolling. I did very slowly and perfectly. But while I did it I gently squeeze it until it is firm and forms a roll. Also, I need to be extra, extra careful.

I made the roll and cut into eighths. But before I wet the knife so the rice wouldn’t stick. Then I place the sushi on a looking bamboo plate with some soy sauce on the side and chopstick.

Lastly, I fix the table. I fix the plates, got it ready. Placed the pancit on the right in the middle and next to it is the sushi with the soy sauce in between. Also, put a rose in the middle and turn of the lights. But opened the window for natural lights.

“Kiseop what is this,” Eun Sun ask. I smiled and turned around.

“Surprise, Jagiya,” I said, walking up to her into a hug.

“Oppa,” she started, “Did you do this?”

“Yes. All of it.” She walk out of my arms and looked at the table. She smiled when she saw the whole thing. And made me smile too. “Take a seat.” I pulled her seat out and pushed back once she had seated.

“Thank you,” she thanked, smiling.

“Welcome, Jagiya. Now, let’s eat,” I said.

“Kiseop.”

“Yes.”

“You forgot something.”

“What is it? Is the napkins,” I questioned, nervously.

“Yes but how about drinks,” she answered, giggling.

“Wine?”

“Kiseop,” she demanded.

“Just joking. I’ll get you some water with ice. Okay,” I asked.

“Okay.” I got her water and she took a sip. “Now, lets see your cooking skills.” She picked up her fork, twist the noodles, and put it in . She chewed while I can hear the vegetables.

“Like it?”

She swallowed and spoke, “Love it!”

“Really?” She nodded. Now, I picked up the sushi and feed it to her. She eat in one bite and made big likes dongho. I laughed and she tried chew and swallow. Then she laughed along with me. “You look cute.”

“Shut up. No, I don’t.”

“Yes, you do.” She stick out her tongue and we continue eating our food. We ate all of the sushi and half of the pancit. I put the pancit away and helped out Eun Sun with the dishes. “Why won’t you let me finish the rest and you relax?”

“Are you sure,” she asked. I nodded and she wiped her hands and went to the couch and turn on the tv.
