001: A New Town
Like Stars In the Sky
A New Town...
Change, one word, a thousand different roads it could lead down. There is usually a reason someone seeks change, maybe to better themselves, or as a way to run away from the past. In all honesty, Nam Doyeon wasn't sure what her and her family were doing it for. Maybe just a change of scenery, that sounded nice, or maybe to run away from the pitiful glances that also hid a look of judgement behind them. Her reasons deferred from her younger brother and her father, each of them had something they wanted to run away from--maybe a better saying would be move past...but when she thought of it, wasn't she running? People usually don't move to a whole other town for no reason.
If she just wanted a change of scenery, she would have moved a city over. But instead she was out in some random town with trees and lakes everywhere. Doyeon's eyes scanned the houses in her neighborhood, the town wasn't extremely small, it was quaint and different from her last. He had been making frequent trips to their new house, in order to prepare and fix anything that needed to be fixed. From what Doyeon had gathered, the house had belonged to an older couple, and after his wife had to move into a nursing home, the husband had decided to follow her there. Thus leaving the house up for sale.
Though she didn't say anything, she hoped that that room would be hers.
"We're here." Nam Chanwon, or Mr. Nam, said as he turned the car off. They all wordlessly climbed out of the car, when there was no car glass in the way of the view, it was easier to take in just how pretty the house was. "What do you two think?" Mr. Nam asked as he happily looked at the looks on his kids faces. Doyeon looked to her younger brother, Taehyun, trying to make him speak first. Luckily it worked. "It looks nice," a smile took over his face, "now, which rooms mine?" Mr. Nam laughed, "Grab a couple boxes and I'll show you."
Both kids scrambled to grab a few of their boxes so they could see their rooms. When they got inside of the house, it was even prettier. Most of the walls were eggshell white, except for a backsplash wall that was a sailor blue. The whole place had the
