Chapter 23- Confidential Secrets

“Mr Yoon? CEO Kim is ready to see you.” The receptionist called out, directing Jeonghan where he was to go. Something must have happened…there’s no other reason why he would call me to his office. What did Mingyu do this time?

“Good afternoon Sir.” Jeonghan greeted, bowing at the man seated in his office chair.

“Nice to see you again Yoon. How’s things between you and that little doctor of yours?” Mr Kim smirked, offering for Jeonghan to sit in front of his desk.

“I-It’s fine Sir, t-thank you for asking.” Jeonghan gulped, his hands fidgeting as he sat before this man, who withheld incredulous powers.

“Now Yoon. I don’t think you’ve done what I’ve asked you to. That’s not how business works.” A frown made its way onto Mr Kim’s face, as he stared down at the obviously shaken male before him.

“S-Sir, please let me explain myself.” Jeonghan stuttered, pulling his chair nearer to the desk.

“You keep my son away from those pesky idiots he attracts, and I’ll pay for your little doctor’s scholarship. Wasn’t that the deal?” Mr Kim raised a brow, seeming to challenge Jeonghan to speak against him.

“Y-Yes Sir. B-But…” Before Jeonghan could finish his sentence, the man waved his hands.

“You didn’t keep your side of the deal. So why should I keep mine? I should probably end that scholarship he has, but it’s such a waste isn’t it? He’s already on his 4th year, about to graduate next year. Imagine the shock he would receive, knowing that he’ll be kicked out of Med school despite the amazing grades he has. Oh and let’s not forget the managerial post your father is holding in my company. We’re thinking of retrenching a few useless staff this year, to you know cut budget. Your father’s the sole breadwinner isn’t he? Aigoo…what’s going to happen to your family…especially your brother who has severe autism…” Mr Kim shook his head, but the smile on his face was ridiculing Jeonghan.

“S-Sir! You can’t do that! Please! J-Joshua is really betting everything and his life in Med school and my family! Please! You can’t do this. We really need the money. Sir please! I’ll do anything!” Jeonghan got onto his knees, begging the man for mercy. I need to do anything and everything to keep Joshua’s scholarship. He’s worked so hard to make it this far. It’s just one more year…and Jeongmin’s condition…we definitely need the money. Dad can’t lose his job.

“Forget it. I’ve gotten things under control already anyways. I couldn’t possibly rely on a useless weakling like you. All you need to do now is keep pests away from Mingyu. I heard there’s one now? What’s his name?” Mr Kim scoffed, crossing his arms.

“I’m sorry Sir…who are you talking about?” Jeonghan asked. He had been busy juggling with his internship and schoolwork, keeping an eye on Mingyu had been left at the back of his head a long time ago.

“Yoon, what exactly have you been doing? I heard he has a boyfriend!” Mr Kim hollered, throwing what seemed like photos at Jeonghan. The younger male picked up the pictures with his hands, shaking as he looked through them. Oh. My. God. Isn’t this Jeon Wonwoo?! What the hell are they doing together? There were pictures of them holding hands, eating at a restaurant with Seokmin and Soonyoung and many more. Jeonghan didn’t even want to know how Mingyu’s father had these pictures. The main point was, he didn’t even know when, how and what happened.

“Who. Is. This.” Mr Kim growled, his fists clenched.

“J-Jeon Wonwoo Sir.” Jeonghan answered, avoiding the man’s aggressive gaze that was set upon him.

“Jeon Wonwoo huh…well keep your eyes on this little bastard until I give you further instructions. Don’t disappoint me again. Now get out.” Mr Kim instructed, turning his gaze onto his computer, expecting Jeonghan to see himself out of the room.

“Yes Sir.” Jeonghan bit on his lower lip, walking out of the room anxiously. Only when he was out of the building did his nerves calm down, heart pumping at a slower rate. What is he even going to do with that kid…I don’t want to think about it…But I’ve warned him…

“Granny, I’m telling you there’s no way I’m going back there when he’s there.” Wonwoo grunted over the phone as he laid on Jun’s bed, limbs dangling off the edges. He was done with his classes for the day and he was pondering on what he could do when he received a call.

“Tonight? Are you sure he won’t be there?” Wonwoo scrunched his brows together. I can’t stand the look of that man for another second.

“Fine…Wait. Can I bring someone? No, it’s not Hansol. Bringing Hansol home was probably the worst decision I made my entire life.” Wonwoo laughed, flipping over to lay on his tummy. I should bring him along with me…It’s time to officially introduce him to granny isn’t it…? She’ll love him…

“You’ll see…it’s a surprise. Yeah yeah…see you tonight~ Love you too!” Wonwoo sent a kiss over the phone, shaking his head at how cringe worthy he could get with his granny. There was no way he could return all the love she showered him with for the loss of his parents’. She was the only who truly gave him life, bringing him thus far as a person.

“Are you cheating on me?!” Wonwoo spun his head around, looking over his shoulder to find the owner of that beautiful voice. The only one besides granny, who could break that strong cold façade, bringing the warm and loving Wonwoo out.

“Baby? What’re you doing here?” Wonwoo leapt out of the bed, his pupils widening and dilating at the sight of his current favourite man in the world.

“Jeon Wonwoo. Who were you talking to over the phone huh? Were you avoiding me this entire week because you met someone new? Why are you smiling like that? Feeling guilty now? Didn’t expect me to turn up did you?” Mingyu spat acerbically, staring at Wonwoo with fury burning in his eyes.

“Baby. What’re you even talking about?” Wonwoo laughed, pulling the younger closer to him, settling on the bed.

“You dare laugh at me you cheater!” Mingyu said through gritted teeth.

“I-I was on the phone with granny you silly fool!” Wonwoo laughed, falling over as he placed his forehead on Mingyu’s knees.

“Oh. My. God.” Mingyu squeezed his eyes shut, cringing internally at how stupid he must have looked as he internalized Wonwoo’s words. Kim Mingyu…why did you even do that?! You’re such an embarrassment.

“AHAHAHAHA BABY DID YOU ACTUALLY THINK I WAS CHEATING ON YOU?” Wonwoo gasped for his breath, his face turning red from all the laughing.

“Stop. Oh my god…this is so embarrassing…” Mingyu buried his face in his hands, shaking his head furiously.

“Baby…you’re so adorable…” Wonwoo let out the last few laughs, getting up from his previous position.

“I’m sorry…” Mingyu pouted as Wonwoo pried his hands away, his face flushing with a slight tinge of pink.

“Why would I cheat on you with an 80 year old lady? Babe that’s just ridiculous!” Wonwoo sighed, smiling as he observed the tinges of pink fading slightly from Mingyu’s cheeks.

“How would I know you were on the phone with granny…” Mingyu whined as he swung his legs off the bed, ready to escape from the room. He knew Wonwoo was going to start another one of his teasing sessions, and he wanted to get out before the older caught on.

“Listen to me. I’ll never cheat on you alright? I’m not one of those jerks…I’ve invested some feelings into this relationship myself, so don’t think otherwise.” Wonwoo caught Mingyu’s wrist in time, turning the younger around. Look at him…always running away when he’s flustered. What am I going to do with you…

“I know…I was just…scared…” Mingyu kept his gaze on the ground, wishing for it to engulf his embarrassed self.

“Anyways…how did you get here huh? Did you learn to break in or something?” Wonwoo raised a brow, a small smirk appearing as he lifted Mingyu’s head by his chin.

“Break in?! I didn’t! I asked Jun hyung for the passcode.” Mingyu retorted immediately, his lips pulled down in a small frown.

“Jun? What the…how did you guys get that close…” Wonwoo mumbled to himself, raising a brow. The last time…Jun was on the verge of killing me for being with him? And now you’re telling me they’re friends?

“I have my ways…I wanted to give you a surprise…but it failed so badly…” Mingyu pouted once more. It earned him a snicker from the older, to which he returned with a glare.

“I was truly surprised. That you thought I was cheating on you. But I have another surprise. Wanna know what it is?” Wonwoo wiggled his brows. He’s probably going to be super excited about visiting granny huh?

“Is that a good surprise, or bad? From your looks, it doesn’t seem like a pleasant one.” Mingyu asked, looking at Wonwoo suspiciously.

“Yah! What do you mean…Fine. You can stay here with Jun and Minghao while I bring Hansol somewhere then.” Wonwoo shrugged his shoulders, standing up as he prepared to leave the room.

“W-What? Where are you going?” Mingyu hurriedly tugged on the older’s wrist, holding him back.

“But you said it wasn’t a pleasant one, so I thought you didn’t want to come along?” Wonwoo teased.

“N-No…I didn’t say that I didn’t want to go…” Mingyu mumbled.

“You’ll find out once we get there. So do you want to go?” Wonwoo raised a brow, holding out one of his hands.

“Fine. But only because I trust you.” Mingyu slipped his hand into Wonwoo’s, their fingers interlocking. It felt so warm and comfortable, to finally be able to hold Wonwoo’s hand after a week of separation. If only this could last forever.

“Isn’t this your house…? What’re we doing here?” Mingyu asked, tilting his head slightly as he gave Wonwoo a questioning look.

“Granny called me earlier on, saying that she wanted to talk to me about something. So I thought of introducing you to granny officially as my boyfriend. You're the surprise I'm bringing for her.” Wonwoo nodded his head as he explained himself. I bet he’s going to start freaking out about his clothes not being formal enough, and then he’ll proceed to scold me for not telling him earlier. “Jeon Wonwoo! Why didn’t you tell me?” And he’ll probably freak out about not bringing anything over to our house. Typical Mingyu’s moments.

“Jeon Wonwoo! You should have told me earlier! I look like now…can we go back to the dorms to change? Please?” Mingyu ruffled his hair, annoyed at the sudden bomb thrown at him.

“Knew it…” Wonwoo whispered to himself. We’ve only been together for weeks, but I already know the kinds of things he says. Such a predictable kid.

“And we didn’t even buy anything?! What would granny think of me? Come on Wonnie! We need to at least get her fruits. I’m going to look so rude…” Mingyu stomped
