Foreword

Characters

Yoo Seol:

“I’m sorry, mother. But, I must be a mother of Goryeo, for him.”

Seol is literally the lively, free-willed, charismatic and intelligent Anne Boleyn of Goryeo who won the heart of Wang Ju and Wang Chi. In the future, she becomes the second queen of Gyeongjong, Queen Heon-Eui. She has a powerful ability her mother has; making everyone love her. Her name indicates her fair skin white as “snow” and has a nickname “Baek Seol”, based one “Snow White” by Baek-Ah.

Wang Ju:

“Before becoming a father of Goryeo, I’m a person who has a heart of man.”

Gwangjong’s eldest son and the Crown Prince who enjoys sneaking out of the palace, disguise himself as a commoner to study the life outside the palace. He takes his charm and appearance after his father, yet his intelligence and manipulation takes from his mother, Queen Daemok. In the future, he becomes the 5th king of Goryeo, Gyeongjong. He claims that he does not fit to be king as he wasn’t strong or ruthless as his father, but he wants to have more power to provide Seol freedom she deserves.

Wang Chi:

“From now on, I am no longer nephew of a king, nor a child of failure excuse of my father. I will give this wretched land the king it deserves.”

Wang Wook’s second child and the crown prince’s cousin. Trained to become a king, he is very mature and clever one who could see the darkness inside the palace walls. Internally and intensely despises his father and aunt, he is determined to give the wretched kingdom of Goryeo the rightful king it deserves. In the future, he becomes the 6th king of Goryeo, Seongjong. However, he is just a boy in love with Seol, who was destined to nurture and love the future king. Unlike Ju who wants to set her free, Chi wants to claim her for his own. In some way, he strongly resembles his aunt, Queen Daemok, especially his ambitions for the throne and obsession for a person he will never claim as his.

Hwangbo Soo:

Wang Wook’s daughter and Seol’s best friend. She was named after deceased Hae Soo, the one her father loves many years ago. Hwangbo Soo gets along with Seol as a sworn sisters and they help one another to protect themselves from any harm. In the end they both become queens. She doesn’t love Ju and possesses ambitions, but not greedy as late Dowager Queen Yoo and Queen Daemok. Thanks to Seol’s support, she have become a powerful queen.

Wang So/Gwangjong:

“Just for once, I want to be a father to a daughter, husband to a gone but unforgotten wife.”

Ju’s father and the 4th king of Goryeo and Seol’s uncle, known as the most powerful king of all in the history of Goryeo. He is very distant and cold to the queen and her children, yet he unconditionally favors and dotes on Seol, pampering/spoiling her with gifts and affection he never gives to his children. But in reality, he is her biological father. Despite his wise reformation and cruel purge he created, he secretly and wistfully wishes that, just for once, he could be her father.

Hwangbo Yeon-Hwa/Queen Daemok:

“This kingdom, must belong to my son.”

The crown prince Ju’s mother. She wants her son to become a king. However, she is inwardly afraid of Gwangjong's paranoid demeanor ever since he created the bloody purge, killing most of the officials and members of powerful clans. She passed away when Ju was a little boy.

Wang Jung:

“We do the wrong thing for a right reasons. Besides, she needs two fathers now.”

Seol’s father. He is the one who taught her martial arts to help her defend herself and provides her freedom during her childhood. He is quite amazed, yet irritated when the king spoils Seol on her every birthday and is seen bickering with him. But when Seol went off somewhere for more than five minutes they both search for her. He and Baek-Ah mutters how she and Soo resembles to one another.

Hae Soo:

“Even if you cannot see me, I will always watch over you.”

The mysterious woman mentioned by the majority of the characters. She is actually Seol’s biological mother. Furthermore, Seol’s appearance strongly resembles her; skin white as snow, lips red as a rose and hair black as night. In some occasion, Seol meets her mother in her dream.

Wang Wook:

“I always held on to the hope…that the one who would kill me…would be you…”

Wang Chi’s father. Despite his calm and regal exterior, he is actually manipulative and cold man who uses his sister as a hostage to Gwangjong. But he fears that someday his son, Chi, will make a same mistake he made many years ago.

Cheon Chu-Jeon:

“You possess rare willpower, sister. Never lose it.”

Seol’s half-brother. He is overly-attached to his sister in a point of respecting and idolizing her bold and graceful aura. Just like his father, he is good with martial arts and swordsmanship.

A-Ji:

“I don’t care if she becomes queen or not. I want her to be happy.”

Seol’s half-brother. Youthful and cheerful as his father, he also enjoys martial arts but is secretive with her when he discovers that Ju is in love with Seol and he tries to hook them up, along with princesses who likes Seol as their sister.

Wang A-Ji/A-Ran:

"Remember this, absence will make men's heart grow fonder."

Crown Prince Ju's younger sister and first-born princess. She gets along with Seol and develops romantic feelings for her half-brother, Cheon Chu-Jeon, and tries her best to get his attention. Later, she marries to Cheon Chu-Jeon, arranged by her father Gwangjong.

Bo-Hwa/ Lady Bo-Hwagung:

"Ladies do not START fight, but they can FINISH them."

The second-born princess and Ju's younger sister. She sees Seol as her older sister and tries to hook her up with Ju. Obedient to her father's every whim, in future she ended up married off to the noble family who she never met, or been spoken to. She believes Seol has a quality as a queen.

Moon-Duk:

"I love Seol as much as I love my sister, but I do not know what she feels when she's with him."

Crown Prince Ju's younger sister and the youngest princess. She highly supports Ju and Seol, but aware of Chi's long-term infatuations for her fearing what will he do to Seol and other royal family because she knew about Chi's unspoken ambitions.

Chapter 40: Aww...you made this series come to such an awesome ending. I am going to miss this series. I hope you start writing Snow White and Seven Uncles soon. I can't wait for more amusing protectiveness of all the princes. Wang Yo is so cool with his rules. Eun has not changed at all.

Chapter 39: Aww...they have their own little family, how sweet! Three kids and one on the way... It is absolutely the best ending to Wang Ju and Seol's love story. Can't wait for the next Snow White series to start!

Chapter 38: Whoa! Ju faked his own death (and illness) and gave up the thrown and his power for the love of his life, Seol, so that they could truly love each other freely. If that's not true romance & love, then I don't know what is? I can't wait to read how Seol & Ju will hopefully live a happy life from here on out :)

Chapter 33: Does Hwangbo mean evil in Korean because it seems like that clan seems to have quite a history of evil seeds & continuing none the less. Chi is like the epitome of evil, who plots to poison & kill their own father & grandmother? Oh I know a psycho! Also who treats their own sisters like their just something to be controlled & given away like candy? Oh I know a psycho!

Chapter 32: Seol is truly the mother of a nation, for only a mother would make you think & reflect. Hopefully, Seol & Ju still have a chance at becoming parents to their own child(ren) in the future.
