It had been raining all day, you had no choice but to stay indoors. You didn’t mind the rain, but you couldn’t afford to get sick with holiday season coming up. Your job required you to work more often as well as longer hours, it but it also meant more money.

You hated it a bit since you liked playing in the rain, but it couldn’t be helped since you had priorities. You sat longingly on your couch, while your television droned on. You had it on some news station so the weatherman just kept talking about how the storm would continue for the next several days.

Your apartment had an underpass into the subway station, so you didn’t even have to worry about getting wet while going to work. Today was a good day for a hot bowl of soup, you decided that would be your lunch and took out some pots and other things in your kitchen.

It didn’t take long to make and you were sitting by your couch, spoon and chopsticks in hand and flipping the channels. You felt the warmth spread through your body, not realizing your toes had been feeling cold.

You finished your meal in peace, standing up to put your bowl away when you saw it. You blinked, unsure if you had actually seen it, rushing to the window.

It took you all of two seconds to grab an umbrella and rush downstairs. You swore you saw someone falling from the sky, maybe they jumped or whatever. But if no one else saw it, then you would have to report it to the police.

The elevator seemed slower than usual, you couldn’t figure it out. But you bounced on your heels impatiently as you waited for it to go down all seven floors from your apartment. As soon as the doors opened, you burst outside, no one was around to see you frantically running to the spot where someone would’ve landed.
