One week later...San Francisco International Airport
Lee Ha Eun looks out the window to see the bright sunny weather of the Bay Area. When she left California a year ago to take the job offered by Choi Industries, she promised herself to return often, not only because of the life she had to leave behind but mainly her family that she misses so much.
Six years ago, she and her sisters left Seoul to forge a new life in California. Ha Eun and her fraternal twin sister, Min Seo were offered scholarships at Stanford to pursue law and medicine respectively. Even with the stipends from the university, it was very tough for the sisters, financially. Back in Seoul, their unnie, Seo Yeon, supported them with part time jobs while she finished her teaching degree. When they settled in the Bay Area, Seo Yeon continued to support them as an elementary school teacher. The twins took jobs, too, to help their unnie, especially when Jin Ki arrived.
As the aisles were cleared of other passengers, Ha Eun stood up and got her hand carry luggage from the overhead compartment. She pulled out her tote and stuffed bear she bought for Jin Ki. After she cleared immigration, she moved towards the baggage claim area to get her check-in luggage. She exits the area and moved towards the arrival hall.
"Imoooooooo!", a child voice squealed as she approaches. Ha Eun grins to see Jin Ki carrying a welcome sign almost as big as him. Beside him is her unnie, Seo Yeon, smiling and waving at her.
"Jin Ki-yah! Is that you? How big you have grown! Imo does not recognize you anymore!", Ha Eun kneels down to Jin Ki's level to get a hug and kiss from the 5-year old boy. He jumps around after Ha Eun hands him the teddy bear she was holding.
"How was your flight, Eun-yah?", Seo Yeon inquired, opening her arms to give her younger sister a hug.
"It was alright, Unnie. It was long but the food was not so bad. I am just happy I was able to get that last minute flight."
