Gerald and Kim still hadn’t recovered from their simple kiss. They don’t know how long they stayed there just looking at each other. Gerald snuck in another quick kiss before he jumped in the back of the SUV with Kim. He pulled her back with him so that they were leaning against the last row of seats. He wrapped the blanket around the both of them. He opened the can of Pringles and passed it to Kim.

Gerald: Your Pringles.

Kim: Thank you.

Kim began to chomp on some Pringles.

Kim: So Gerald… tell me… how many girlfriends have you had prior?

Gerald: Do you want to go down this road?

Kim: I think so. Curiosity more than anything? Plus… don’t you think this will tell me how you are as a boyfriend?

Gerald: Are you considering me boyfriend material? (smiling at her)

Kim: Are you?

Gerald: I’m forever material. What about you? Are you girlfriend material?

Kim: What do you think?

Gerald: I think you are forever material as well. Makes us perfect for each other don’t you think?

Kim: Well I just don’t want to jump into a relationship just because I have chemistry with someone.

Gerald: Don’t you think it’s a start?

Kim: It is but so many people also end up in one night stands because of supposed chemistry.

Gerald: True. Is that what you are looking for? (wiggling his eyebrows)

Kim: (with much attitude) Uh… I don’t think so. So don’t get any ideas.

Gerald: I’m not unless you are offering but I’m not looking for a one night stand.

Kim: Ever had one.

Gerald: No.

Kim: Just no.

Gerald: Just no. That’s not the way I roll. What about you? Ever had a one night stand?

Kim: I haven’t even had a three night stand or more.

Gerald: (looking surprised)  Not even with Enchong.

Kim: Definitely not with Enchong, despite him trying. He used to give me this bull about being blue balled. Like I cared. I just knew it wasn’t right.

Gerald: Are you telling me you are a…?

Kim: A . Yes. And proud of it. It’s my strong traditional Filipino values. I believe in waiting until you are married.

Gerald: I can definitely respect that. (looking at her)

Kim: Thank you. So back to my question. Tell me about your past girlfriends. Number?

Gerald: 3

Kim: You broke it off?

Gerald: Nope. Dumped all 3 times.

Kim: Seriously?  I don’t believe you!

Gerald: Believe me.

Kim: I wonder what you did.

Gerald: What I did?!! Why do you think it was my fault?

Kim: I don’t know. Women have to stick together, don’t you think?

Gerald: Not when it is wrong.

Kim: It’s all perspective.

Gerald: True. They do say that there is 3 sides to a story.

Kim: Three sides?

Gerald: Yes. Your’s. The other person’s. And then there is the Truth.

Kim: I like that. So what is your perspective?

Gerald: Right now?

Kim: Yes.

Gerald: This has been a great day so far. Major potential.

Kim: (laughing)  Does this feel like speed dating?

Gerald: In a sense… yes. But the timing still feels right.

Kim: Hmmm…. So back to my questions. Ever been in love?

Gerald: I’ll tell you after tonight.

Kim: You are full of bull. (smiling at him)

Gerald: Not bull. Honest. (smiling right back at her)

Kim: Longest relationship?

Gerald: 6 months.

Kim: 6 months. Is that short or too long?

Gerald: According to the girl, too long. (laughing)

Kim: (chuckling)  Poor girl. She had to endure you for 6 months. Why did she end it?

Gerald: I never had time for her. Playing basketball, school. At first, she thought it was cool having a boyfriend who played varsity basketball. Team captain at that. But when she realized that it meant long hours of practice and no time after because I needed to make sure my grades were up. She got tired of it so she broke it off with me. Then she hated it when other girls paid attention to me.

Kim: Did you end up with another girlfriend after that?

Gerald: No. No time. I graduated from high school and flew out here to go to college.

Kim: Hmmmm…

Gerald: Are you analyzing me?

Kim:  A little bit.

Gerald: And?

Kim: You are focused. You have your priorities straight.

Gerald: I think I like what you are saying.

Kim: Remember I’m just analyzing, not complimenting.

Gerald: Ha! Ha! Don’t make me laugh. You like that about me, don’t you?

Kim: Don’t flatter yourself.

Gerald was laughing and began poking Kim in her sides and discovered that she was ticklish. Kim screamed and tried to escape him, laughing and pushing his hands away.

Gerald: Where are you going? Come here.

Gerald then grabbed Kim around the waist and pulled her on top of his lap. Kim could not stop laughing.

Kim: No fair.

Gerald: All is fair in love and war.

Kim: Ha!

Gerald: So now your turn.

Kim: Huh?

Gerald: Your turn to answer questions. Number of boyfriends.

Kim: Two.

Gerald: How old were you when you had your first boyfriend?

Kim: 16.

Gerald: First kiss.

Kim: 16.

Gerald: Why did you guys break up?

Kim: He kissed me.

Gerald: (laughing) You broke up with him because he kissed you.

Kim: Yeah. (playfully punching him)  Quit laughing.

Gerald: Seriously?

Kim: Hey. I was a prude.

Gerald: Don’t tell me you believed that if you kissed a boy, you would get pregnant.

Kim: (playfully punching him)  Hey! I said I was a prude not stupid.

Gerald busted up laughing. Kim looked at him pouting but then couldn’t help crack a smile and then joined him.

Kim: Be nice.

Gerald: I am being nice. Why are you so much fun?

Kim: At the expense of me.

Gerald: I am not laughing at you. I’m laughing at the situation.

Kim: Humph! (crossing her arms in front of her)

Gerald uncrossed her arms and placed her arms around his neck.

Kim: Humph!

Gerald leaned down and kissed her nose.

Gerald: Are you comfortable?

Kim: (shyly)  Yes.

Gerald: Are you getting all shy with me now?

Kim: I am shy!

Gerald: Bull! You were feisty from the first time I laid eyes on you. That’s what caught me however let’s not ignore the fact that you are absolutely beautiful.

Kim: Quit the sweet talk.

Gerald: There’s my feisty girl. (smiling) But don’t ignore the fact that you are beautiful in more ways than one. Okay.

Kim: Thank you.

Gerald: Much better. Now where was I?

Kim: You were somewhere?

Gerald: Ah… yes. So have you fallen in love?

Kim: I thought I was. What do you think made me stay with Enchong?

Gerald: Stupidity. The notion of romance. Comfort.

Kim: I think it was stupidity. I’ll accept that one.

Gerald: Sometimes love or what we believe is love makes us do things that are not us.

Kim: I hear you. Like me sitting on your lap with my arms around your neck, overlooking the beautiful San Francisco skyline.

Gerald: (smiling) Do you think this is love?

Kim: I don’t know but I do know that this is unlike me.

Gerald: It is unlike me as well. All I know is that I don’t want the night to end.

Kim: Well… (looking at her watch)  it’s a brand new day since it is past midnight. So the night has ended.

Gerald: I don’t know if I could just take you home and drop you off.

Kim: Then why are we talking about it. I’m not ready to go home either.

They smiled at each other.
