“I thought you’d be happier now that the wedding’s finally happening.”

            “Kris, how many times do I have to ask you to knock before coming in?”

            “I did,” Kris replied, a little hurt, “You were just too dazed to hear it.”

            Junmyeon stayed silent. It was the truth. Sometimes, he could drown in his own emotions and memories so deep that it was like he had entered into a different world.

            “I’m sorry for snapping at you,” he said softly.

            “It’s okay,” Kris said gently, “I know there’s a lot on your mind right now.”

            He heard Kris sighed heavily from a distance away. The atmosphere between them was heavy. Junmyeon felt the tension between them. He waited for Kris to speak. Junmyeon didn’t have the courage to say anything more. It had been almost a week. Tomorrow would be their wedding day. Yet, Junmyeon didn’t feel happy like he’s supposed to be.             Suddenly, he heard Kris’s ringtone ringing. Kris picked it up. He spoke softly into the phone before handing it over to Junmyeon.

            “Here,” he placed the phone in Junmyeon’s hand, “It’s Chanyeol.”

            Junmyeon’s heart lurched and he almost forgot how to react. His hands trembled as he closed his fingers around the cellphone. He put it to his ear.

            “Hello?”

            “Hey, I…umm, just calling to let you know that I couldn’t attend your wedding tomorrow,” Chanyeol spoke softly, “Something came up. I’m really sorry.”

            “I…it’s okay, Chanyeol,” Junmyeon replied, “It’s no big deal.”

            “An early congratulations to you then,” he tried to laugh but it failed miserably.

            “Goodbye, Junmyeon.”

            “Goodbye…” Junmyeon’s heart sank, “Chanyeol.”

            The line went dead. Junmyeon handed the phone back to Kris.

            “He was just informing me that he couldn’t make it to our wedding tomorrow.”
