Hey guys!

I know it has been forever since I updated. :( I was accepted into a graduate program and it didn’t leave any time for me to do anything but study. And unfortunately, I had to put a pause on my writing. However, I missed it so much that I decided to make some time every single day and write a little bit, because writing makes me happy and I also owe it to my readers. So, I am very sorry for the delay, but I hope you understand and continue to follow my story! I hope you have been well since the last time I updated, and I look forward to seeing more comments on the story! :)

Taehyung leaned over the railing of the bridge, blowing smoke in the air. His introspection was interrupted with a hand swatting his cigarette away.

“Seriously Tae, we talked about this.”

Taehyung turned to face Jungkook, whose hair was quite wet and dripping water down his face.

“Didn’t know it was raining somewhere in the city.”

Jungkook sighed and sat down, and Taehyung joined him.

“I was at the pool,” Jungkook said, “and you sounded stressed. So, I ran over as soon as I could.”

“Thank you. It’s nothing really. I just needed to vent a bit.”

“Go on ahead.”

Taehyung looked at Jungkook and sighed. “I am sorry for smoking, it was only one cigarette, I promise. And not even that, because you smacked it away.”

“Thank goodness I did. You never smoke. What happened?”

Taehyung sighed again. “Hyung found out about Kelly.”

Jungkook breathed sharply. “I am gonna assume that didn’t go well.”

Taehyung shook his head and rubbed his shoe into the grave.

“You do understand where he’s coming from, don’t you Tae?”

“I do. I just…Kelly is willing to stand up against her abusive dad, and I am too scared of my brother who actually loves me…I feel like a coward.”

“I think it’s because hyung loves you so much that you find it harder to disobey him.”

“I want to be there for Kelly, Jungkook. I can’t abandon her now.”

Jungkook sighed. “You should try talking to Baekhyun. And Kelly. I support being there for her, but at the same time you can’t put your own life in danger.”

Taehyung stood up and began to pace. “I hate living like this, at the mercy of someone like Callahan!”

“It is unfortunate, but what can you do? You saw what he did to you Tae! We were scared you wouldn’t make it!”

“But I survived, didn’t I? And instead of scaring me, it just makes me want to defy him even more!”

Jungkook stood up too. “Taehyung, the only reason you survived was because of Baekhyun, who worked day and night so you could stay in the best hospital in the city. I don’t remember ever seeing him sleep. He was the reason you survived, so don’t make this into some display of your own bravery!”

Taehyung turned around to scowl at Jungkook. “So I should just run away like a wimp and leave Kelly alone?! She trusted me, and I should break that trust? Is that what you suggest, Jungkook?”

Jungkook glared back, and then looked away. “Do whatever you want. But family comes first, and Baekhyun has put too much at stake for you. His entire life has been about making you happy, so maybe you should prioritize him over anything else. But who am I to tell you how to live your life.”

Taehyung stepped in front of Jungkook. “What is up with you? Who are you?! You’re my ing best friend! Why are you being so distant?!”

“I don’t know, Tae,” Jungkook said quietly, “when was the last time we spent any time together? Seems like the only reason you call me these days is if you have some problem going on. I don’t mind it, but is that the only reason you need me for?”

“Jungkook, I don’t understand. It has been a couple days, but so much has been going on…”

“I have my regional swimming finals in a week, Tae. Why do you think I spend so much time at the pool?”

“Oh…yes. I…I would remember and come cheer for you…”

“And it hasn’t been a couple days Taehyung. It has been at least a month.”

“I didn’t think our friendship needed these displays of affection to survive, Jungkook.”

“It doesn’t,” Jungkook said, as he picked up his backpack. “All I am trying to say is, Baekhyun and I have always been there, so don’t take us for granted. I wasn’t going to talk to you about this, but you disrespecting Baekhyun hyung made me think, that maybe you are forgetting who your main priorities are. We would never forget that you are ours.”

With that, Jungkook swung his backpack over his shoulder and begun to walk away, leaving a speechless Taehyung behind.

Suga stood in front of apartment 1207 and took a deep breath. He had decided to wing this because the more he rehearsed the more stupid he thought he sounded. To calm his nerves, he went over the main points of the conversation in his head.

1. Hi I am Suga

2. I am not a salesperson

3. Are you Jiyong?

4. You have a half sister, lol

5. Idk if you’d be interested in connecting with family or something

6. Oh btw you can’t tell Hoseok, your half-sister’s older brother that I told you any of this, lol

Feeling a little more confident, Suga rang the bell.

A couple seconds later, he heard footsteps, and the sound of someone unlocking the door. A thin, worried looking woman opened the door.

“Yes?”

Suga took a deep breath. “Could I meet with Jiyong, please?”

The woman closed her eyes and sighed. “Why?”

“Um, I needed to talk to him about…uh, something. It’s a bit private.”

The woman didn’t look convinced. “He isn’t doing so well. I am his mother, you can tell me.”

Minhyuk’s first wife, Suga thought.

“Miss Kwon,” Suga began, “this is with regards to Minhyuk Lee’s second marriage. Would you be okay talking about it, and keeping it confidential too?”

The woman’s eyes narrowed. “I want nothing to do with that man. I don’t know what he’s been up to since we divorced 17 years ago.”

Suga took another deep breath. “Actually Miss Kwon, he is dead. But he left Jiyong a half-sister.”
