...................................................................................................................................................................................

Jackie was chasing KyungSoo through the house when Jimin rang the bell.

“I swear I’ll cut you Do KyungSoo!” Jackie screamed.

KyungSoo responded with loud laughter and leaped over the recliner in the living room. Jackie attempted to jump over it too but it was difficult in the stupid skirt Yoojung (her brother’s girlfriend and that idiot KyungSoo’s mother had made her wear). Huffing, she stomped over to the main door and slammed it open. Jimin looked positively scared on the other end.

Before he could say anything, Jackie was back to chasing KyungSoo. She left the door open so Jimin could come in. He walked in and stepped aside, unwilling to be in the line of fire in yet another war between Jackie and KyungSoo.

“Jackie, I promise I had no idea that you needed that external hard drive…”

“Kyungsoo!!! Why do you think I would buy it if I didn’t need it?!”

“I can try getting the virus cleaned…”

Jackie threw a book on advanced statistics on his head. It missed him by just an inch.

“God, Jackie,” Kyungsoo huffed as he stepped back, “I’ll buy you another one!”

“Do you know how expensive these hard drives are? And for heavens sake stop mooching off my stuff, get your own hard drive to download pirated stuff on!”

“I wasn’t downloading any pirated !” Kyungsoo yelled back, ducking as a magazine zoomed past his head. “It was… it was… never mind. It was something completely legal. I had no idea my idiot friend’s computer had viruses on it.”

“You destroyed a 80 dollar hard drive, you better pay me back!”

Kyungsoo ran around and used a petrified Jimin as a shield. “Okay, okay, let me buy you food and we are even, okay?”

“I don’t want your stupid 5 dollar burgers! I need 80 dollars in cash!” Jackie threw a cushion which hit Jimin squarely on his face.

“Ow!” he yelled, but Jackie ignored him as she reached around him to grab Kyungsoo.

“Jackie! Alright, I’ll pay you back once I get my paycheck for the month, okay?!” Kyungsoo screeched as he hid behind Jimin.

Jimin was also trying his best to escape. “Jackie, he promised you. Now give it a break….”

Huffing Jackie backed away. Throwing a glare angry enough to burn grass, she stomped away into her room. Kyungsoo took a deep breath and collapsed into a sofa.

“She’s scary,” he muttered, shaking his head.

“You almost got me killed,” Jimin hissed, dropping down next to him.

“My apologies, didn’t mean to cause you injury.”

“Yeah right,” Jimin muttered, “that’s why you used me as a shield.”

“Survival instincts man,” Kyungsoo replied, running his hand through his wild hair. “She almost killed me, over a 80 dollar hard drive.”

“That’s a lot of money, man,” Jimin said, chuckling.

Kyungsoo pouted. “I see you’ve picked Jackie over me.”

“No, more like 80 dollars over viruses.”

“Whatever Jimin. Why are you here though?”

“Wow. Can’t visit my friends anymore?” Jimin teased.

“You should have picked a better time. You saw me in a moment of weakness, Jiminnie.”

“No judgment hyung,” Jimin laughed. “I’ll try to help Jackie calm down.”

Jimin walked toward Jackie’s room and knocked on her door.

“What?” Jackie yelled from inside.

“It’s me, Jimin.”

“Aish.” Jackie walked to the door and opened it. “Jiminnie, sorry you had to see that.”

“It’s okay, kinda used to it by this time,” Jimin chuckled. Jackie stepped aside to let him in.

“I am poor Jimin,” Jackie muttered, “freaking Kyungsoo putting viruses on my 80 dollar hard drive. God knows what he was doing with it…”

“Kyungsoo has been a bit secretive about it. I think Hoseok hyung knows about it? Might grill him about it later.”

“Oh dear. Anything Kyungsoo’s secretive about, has to be shady. Anyway, how’s Mia?”

Jimin smiled. “She’s doing well. That girl is so positive about everything. Poor Hoseok is always working his off, she’s a good influence for him.”

“She’s such a sweetheart,” Jackie smiled. “I should invite her over some time. Bake or something for her.”

Jackie raised her eyebrows when Jimin didn’t say anything and just smiled.

“What?” she asked, leaning forward. Her brown eyes sparkled as the sunlight hit them.

“It’s strange seeing you behave… what’s the word. Tenderly.” Jimin laughed. “Like the way you talked about Mia. You’re usually screeching or something. I can’t even imagine you baking.” He laughed again.

“I don’t screech!” Jackie replied, indignant. But even then she couldn’t help but grin. “And tender’s such a weird word. Makes me think of chicken.”

“Fine. Do you prefer yelling to screeching? I can think of other synonyms too- shrieking, shouting, bawling…”

Jackie punched Jimin playfully. “I am gonna make you do all of that if you don’t stop showing off your vocabulary, Jiminnie.”

“Ooo I am scared,” Jimin teased, holding Jackie’s fists in his hands. “You have such small hands,” Jimin said, grinning.

“I can still hurt you Park Jimin,” Jackie smirked.

“You make me feel bad for Kyungsoo sometimes,” Jimin said, chuckling. “How does he sleep knowing you’re in the room right next to him?”

“I am not as violent as you guys make me seem,” Jackie grumbled, but unable to stop herself from smiling. “Now leave my hands Park Jimin.”

“Do I have to?” Jimin asked, his eyes glittering with mischief.

Jackie didn’t say anything right away. A few moments later she slowly wriggled her hands out of Jimin’s grasp whose cheeks slowly reddened.

“I guess I have to,” he murmured, looking away.

“Nothing personal, Jiminnie,” Jackie whispered, blushing herself. “Now, do you want to call Hoseok-ah and Mia over? We can make cupcakes.”

Jimin nodded, getting up. “I’ll go pick them up,” he said, and walked out the door. Jackie smiled sadly, her fingers playing with the bracelet on her other hand, and her mind swimming with the image of a smiling guy with strawberry-blonde hair.

I am pumped for the rest of the story!!
I just love how you gave us tiny snippets of each of the character's lives and their personalities without giving away too much. I am particularly looking forward to Jongin's part.
